Roddy McDowall, I first saw him as a preteen in Planet of the Apes and have always appreciated his fine acting. A pleasure to see him acting as a child. Superb. Now this is one of my favorite Tyrone Power movies.❤ 🌬💀🏴☠️
These old movies still rock!! And a lot of them are time capsules. When it portrays modern life. Which is now old history. I love to see the old cars, and buildings, the clothes. ❤❤ Just love it.
What a great cast for this classic tale, and especially the most youthful Roddy McDowell and the luminous Elsa Lanchester. The cinematography, too, is superb. Thanks for sharing this excellent film. And, though we don't see this scene in the film, I like to imagine that Ben returned to the inn and gave Bristol Isabel, the "wench" who saved his life, if not the entire necklace taken back from the snake Isabel, at least a couple of pearls in gratitude.
First movie I ever saw Tyrone in years ago on the late show it was love at first sight n it never died the second movie of his was Mark of Zorro his smile could melt butter n it did my heart ❤️
Very "Don Quixote", but indeed a tale of its own. Made in a time when acting was still acting. Warms my heart to view such a magnificent effort from end to end. And as to the End, it began not with fencing as the chosen form of "battle" between our young hero and his tormentor, but a battle of skills as a pugilist. I positively salivated from the start the finale that could have but a single outcome. Power NEVER disappointed throughout his short career, and the other key players were well suited to their roles. Yes, I would have to say a definite keeper. Channel is Top Shelf. 🤗
I like all these films with q lot of adventure and great actors. That was cinema. I can't compare rhem with the today's productions. There's no similarity. Many thanks for all these choices.❤w
Take a look at Tyrone in movies before the war vs. after his service flying wounded soldiers out of Okinawa and Iwo Jima in an R5C. The razor’s edge he looks at least ten years older.
Well delivered by Tyrone Power: "... paid for their work, but keeping title to their spirits and their souls". That applies to top level on down of hierarchy.
Highly enjoyable. Power & Sanders have a great slug fest near the end & had another, with swords, that same year in THE BLACK SWAN. A sad irony occurred when both were rehearsing another physical confrontation in 1958‘s SOLOMON & SHEBA when Power had a heart attack & died on the way to the hospital. Anyway in this film Power had not just one but 2 beautiful ladies to play off of. One a brunette & the other a blond: Tierney & Farmer. This, however, proved to be Farmer‘s last major film role which was regrettable for various reasons, too involved to go into here.
Have not seen this one but the director, John Cromwell, made a terrific noir called Caged. He worked with many famous and beautiful actresses, here Gene Tierney,
TYRONE POWER, I WISH WOULD HAVE COMPLETED HIS ROLE IN SOLOMON AND SHEBA WITH GINA LOLOBRIGIGA BUT HE PASSED AWAY WHILE FILMING A SWORD FIGHTING SCENE AND THE MOVIE HAD TO BE PARTLY REDONE WITH YUL BRYNER IN THE TITLE ROLE

I've always loved Gene Tierney [from afar, as a fan]. She is my idea of a living goddess, the same sort of combination of loveliness of beauty & kindness as Susan Dey, Michelle Pfeiffer, Debby Harry & Barbara Eden are today❣
Tyrone Power was such a great actor .He died so young. All the actors in this movie were great too.Gone but never ever forgotten.

Good question. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
The 2nd movie Tierney & Powers starred. The other:The Razors Edge.
They also did “That Wonderful Urge”.
@jaengen I will now have the urge to checkout that movie=Thks.
The first film they were in together, The Razor's Edge was 5 years later.
