EXCELLENT VIDEO......practice .......practice.......practice......no different than playing any type of team sports, or, any sport for that matter. This was the single best teaching video on RUclips. He is patient and knowledgeable. Hats off.....you get a ten.🤠🖖
I've been watching airbrush videos non-stop for the last week and change in preparation for my kit to arrive. This is the best idea I have seen yet. I've been dreading going through roll after roll of paper towels and newsprint to practice and learn on. The picture frame idea is fantastic! The Windex in a sponge is great too. Thanks for posting this!
the best practice board I've ever seen putting mine together right now. Thanks for all the tips and when get throuht putting my board together will watch the rest of your videos.
I haven't done airbrush for 8 years since I was in high school. I just started picking it up again. I appreciate your informative video with tricks that I was never taught.
josh ...brother i dig what youre all about. you break it down , so any one can be taught. and you do it without that, complex or attitude! ive watched videos multiple times, and learned more from you in just one viewing ! so thanks brother keep it up. ED DUTRA
I've spent hours looking at airbrushing tutorials and tips for beginners etc... I paint Gundam Models (Gunpla) and searched for tips for that first, but needed more knowledge for general airbrushing skills, finally found your video and this is amazing! Just what I needed! Thank you so much!
I'm an airbrush newbie, and this is such a fantastic video for newbs. I have a cheap frame with glass sitting here, and thanks to this, I know how to best utilize it. Thanks for a great vid!
Just started getting into airbrush and I've gone thru so many videos & they all pretty much show the same basic fundamentals but no tips like yours man to facilitate things for us newbies, freakin genius I just had to subscribe Thanx again
won catallac thank you! hope it goes good for you and if you have a question just ask!! I will always answer just might not be quick. you can email me for quicker response. its on my page
Apparently this is an old vid, but still helping people today😊, I've been running around trying to find stuff to practice on but the frame is N AWSOME idea!!! Gives me an a way to practice the same copy over and over again. Now i just gotta learn some skills😉
Excellent video. I've been in education for 20 years, and you do a great job of teaching with simple explanation and great demonstration. I love the windex sponge tip!
Thanks Josh, now I don't have to ask any 'newbie' questions, not that I would have anyway. But I pulled so much info from this video, very helpful and understandable. Good job and good work.
I had purchased the entire outfit but just haven't had the time to get going. I love that picture frame and glass set up. I am going to put that together next week. Thanks a bunch.
Great job, awesome tips on preventing the dry tip and using the framed glass is ideal for practicing and getting warmed up, I used to airbrush on fabric, t-shirts etc. trying to get back into it for using on paper, canvas etc. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this video. Just got my 1st airbrush for modeling. Never thought about testing on glass. Great idea. Gonna go to the thrift store and find some old frames with pictues to learn more about shading. Just paint right over the pictures. Doesn't matter what they are. Just a learning tool.
Good idea and great tips. I am definitely going to make a practice "board". I've been using an airbrush for my scale modeling, but I want to start trying to do some airbrush art and this will save me from wasting illustration boards while learning new techniques.
Just read 'Crafts-a-lot and your reply. Agree and empathy with both: A really powerful help. I will make a 'blackboard' of glass. Paints of older days were not so willing to adhere to glass and would pearl. I might get further than saving some 'precious work' by getting used to using the knife to wipe away my -masterpiece-' Just my sense of joviality. I used to do this on bikes but it's a long time ago and hardly talented - now I think to do a little more. Your practice sheet is just the ticket - Thanks for daring to give your input and, your did a great job with the brush (I just saw a guy ca 10min of doing an eye with a frenchcurve - he meant well, but the eye wouldn't convince and the route to the result, ja it's one way to go as you say. Glad for your time. Thanks
Great video man. I think you had such a great idea with the glass... That's great practice to experiment for non-absorbing surfaces to get confident with air pressure and reduction. I might also try the sponge thing... I do it with a piece of soaked paper towel and works fine, but that way looks even more secure. See u around.
Thanks so much for your video. The only way I am going to get good at airbrushing is to practice. Your idea of using glass is perfect because I don't have to go out and buy canvas all the time. Also, I can change the paper inside to all manor of designs.
Didn't think the paint would come off so easily with just a blade. Thanks for the video this will help me out a lot. Before I would have just used something like Simple Green window cleaner to take it off.
Thank you SO much for doing this video. I like to paint abstract oil/acrylic and was looking to try some designs out. Thank you for taking the time to do this, much appreciated!!
I look at so many videos to learn different techniques from people... but when it comes to showing a how to.. wow.. I really like the way you explained it... Thank you... by the way.... seems like you airbrush good....!
Crafts-A-Lot thank you! I hate talking to a camera or telling people how to do something. there are so many ways to do this, there are not many wrong answers. feels good to know people actually think I do a good job at it.
I cant thank you enough for that video, 41 years old and just starting to try and do this, im confident in my ability with most things in life but besides youtube videos on how to do the Art itself, this was extremely useful with a bonus of some quick great Art of yours with the Eye. It all gives me a headstart on a 4 term course i will begin soon hopefully. Your a good man taking the extra time out to help us Newbies, Much appreciated from this Aussie Bloke :)
AusPearlJammer thanks! I learned from watching RUclips videos so I figured I would give back and just video what I am doing along with some tips like this vid.
Josh I am about a year and a half into airbrushing and have watched a ton of videos in that time....but this is one of the coolest ideas I've seen yet for practice purpose......thanx man.....thats gonna help alot...even if you want to practice painting a certain picture before you actually apply it to whatever you are putting it on for good...
I've been practising in exact way yoiu advise here for a few weeks now. However, the glass surface with stencil underneath and wipe clean = genius advice. Next thing I am buying is a picture frame to do just this. Thank you! :-)
yo josh, just got into airbrushing and this is by far the best "ADVICE" out there...thanks for the "go practice" and not "this is how u do it" tutorial

Josh thank you so much for taking your time to show us how to get our skills up to par!!! Love the glass trick I bought a large sketch pad when it would have been better to us a glass. I see the little regulator really helps also. Again thanks for taking the time to explain and show us how to improve our skills.
It has been a long time since I have held an air brush. But I like the paint on the glass and the template behind it. Am going out and looking at a frame from a consignment shop. I like the thinner the paint and build up. I am buying a golf cart and going to put on some flames, an Ace of Spades, with a Ram in the middle. spread deck of cards. thanks for the good video.
without a doubt, this has been the single biggest piece of advice i have gotten from anyone. i spent the whole day doing different exercises, absolutely awesome!!!! thanks so much. BTW... what happened to the "thousand skulls" piece? That was one of my favs!!!

Dude, that is an awesome idea. The glass mimics any hard surface perfectly, well I guess not a primered surface. But definitely a high gloss surface like on cars,or helmets.Going to Wal Mart today, and get a nice sized picture frame. This is one of the best tips I have gotten yet.Thank yo,I've been using 4 ft. by 5ft.corrogated cardboard sheets (basically because I get them free at work),but the paint soaks in,or has fuzzy overspray, can't do layers or color blends very well. And you can't do fine detail practice strokes. It gives me trigger time but it's just not a good practice material. After watching your video,I know this glass technique is really going to help me to practice the strokes and effects I have had trouble with.Plus it will make me use more trigger control too.Great idea,I wish I came across this video months ago.Once again, thank you.

cant tell you how many videos ive watched, but this is by far the best and simplest explanation. never even seen those worksheets you are referring to, but gonna draw one out on backside of pane. thanxfor the time you spent on this vid
