Hi Leo First of all, thank you for all your tutorials. But as long as you’re doing so much, can’t you use a more logical melody for your example, since we have to listen to it repeatedly. 😊
Great video about automation. Question: I’ve made MIDI tracks of 4 bars, and then copied and pasted them one and after each other. Must I apply track automation or region automation to automate a parameter over let’s say 16 bars? Hope you can help me out with this one. Thanks 🙏 in advance.
It depends on what you are trying to achieve, but before I reply can you expand on how many tracks? 4 bars for each track? Did the original tracks already had automation?
@@soundformore No. The track did not yet had any automation. I recorded (as example) a pad sound for the duration of 4 bars. After I did this, I’ve copied and pasted these 4 bars on the same channel one after each other. The rest of the song I also recorded 4 or 8 bars and copy/paste them. When I press the automation knob, then the Pencil knob at the bottom, I can see the complete length of the channel, but every 4 or 8 bars is separated from each other with no gaps. If I want to use my Apple Pencil 2 to brush in the automation, I must do it for each 4 to 8 bars resulting in an uneven spread of the automation and almost impossible to get it done right. If we take the pads I’ve mentioned, I want to apply filter automation on the first 32 bars of the song. If you need more info, please let me know.
So if I understand correctly you have multiple regions per track because of copy and paste; if so why don’t you join the regions into one and then apply automation to only a region?
You make it look easy but for some reason I can’t record any automation except when initially laying down the track. Touch and latch mode don’t record anything from my controller at all, even though I can hear the parameters change, nothing is recorded.
@@soundformore I’ve experimented more and I seem to be able to record parameters that there are sliders and knobs for within Logic. Logic synths respond to mod, pitch bend, and expression from my controller but those are not recorded in either touch or latch mode, track or region. I feel like there is a setting wrong or something but I can’t find it. I did find a video for a fix for this same or similar issue on Logic for Mac, but it involves deleting a file that contains settings information, and there is no user access to such a file on iPad, far as I know.
Depending on where you are you select the according option, for example inside the piano roll you select a point, tap on it again with the move tool and select delete, or select all points and then again same process to delete…
Thanks that's very useful
You are welcome

Hi, does it work for you without the external controller?

Can you automate effect plugins?
Internal plugins?
@@soundformore yes! So if you have reverb change the amount along the track for example
❤
👍
how can I delete automations?
