In South Korea, their artists and bands work hard since childhood, BLACKPINK members auditioned as kids and god knows how hard they worked. I saw a clip with Lisa teaching a dance class and she is scary, I don’t wanna be on the wrong side of her lol.
That's mostly cause that's how her teacher was. Very strict, but also very good at pointing out what is being done wrong and displaying how to fix it. You barely hear Jisoo and Rosie harmonize and it's something I think they need more of. They both have unique and beautiful voices.

Great reaction. They actually debuted with both Boombayah and Whistle. Both are awesome and way different. The reason some of their songs adhere to a very similar formula is that they have had one producer since their debut, Teddy Park. Teddy is from the US and was a hardcore rapper in Korea before he became a producer. And that is why a lot of blackpink songs have a heart trap Edge.

What you should do is their LIVE JAPANESE stuff. Tokyo Dome specifically. Lisa raps strictly in English there. Jennie raps in a mix of Japanese and English. Rose and Jisoo sing in Japanese and English. But Lisa STRICTLY raps in all English.
I’m sure this will get buried, but one of the contributing factors to them getting big so quickly was the fact that they came from on of the top three companies at the time. Their starting point was really really high. They were the first girl group out of YG for YEARS. YG’s main girl group 2NE1 was dissolving and Blackpink were kind of stepping into that void. Big Bang was THE top group of the time and they were also from YG. Now YG is fallen super sharply because of a variety of reasons and I personally feel like they’re the equivalent of a building with a nice exterior, but the roof is collapsing in on itself and the inside is rotting away.

In South Korea, their artists and bands work hard since childhood, BLACKPINK members auditioned as kids and god knows how hard they worked. I saw a clip with Lisa teaching a dance class and she is scary, I don’t wanna be on the wrong side of her lol.
That's mostly cause that's how her teacher was. Very strict, but also very good at pointing out what is being done wrong and displaying how to fix it. There's a reason why she is so good at dancing and has her technicals down to a science. Jennie trained for 7 years which is the most of BP, but other idols like Jihyo from Twice trained for 10 years before debuting.

Jennie rapping and having Rosie maybe highlight the chorus with her vocals would be a great combo. I would love for them to explore pairing the girls up and highlighting their talents. You barely hear Jisoo and Rosie harmonize and it's something I think they need more of. They both have unique and beautiful voices.

The reason some of their songs adhere to a very similar formula is that they have had one producer since their debut, Teddy Park. Teddy is from the US and was a hardcore rapper in Korea before he became a producer. And that is why a lot of blackpink songs have a heart trap Edge.

I’m sure this will get buried, but one of the contributing factors to them getting big so quickly was the fact that they came from on of the top three companies at the time. Their starting point was really really high. They were the first girl group out of YG for YEARS. YG’s main girl group 2NE1 was dissolving and Blackpink were kind of stepping into that void. Big Bang was THE top group of the time and they were also from YG. Now YG is fallen super sharply because of a variety of reasons and I personally feel like they’re the equivalent of a building with a nice exterior, but the roof is collapsing in on itself and the inside is rotting away.

The labels and music companies in SK have it to a fine art on the prep and promotion of groups like this. There's a lot of groups that will have rotational sub units (check out Neo Culture Technology and Produce 101) Disney contracts have nothing on how the Korean talent agencies run their contracts.

BTS RAPLINE CYPHER SERIES: (how I understand it) - BTS’ Cypher Series as a whole respond just a bit to the B-Free Incident, but more so to all the constant hate and jealousy they got in their own country for being underdogs daring to shine brighter than current favorites from huge labels, and then later internationally for being too ‘different’.
The ‘Be-Free Incident’ was when two BTS Rappers - RM & SUGA - both former underground rappers, got ambushed at a promotional interview by a couple holier-than-thou Korean Hip Hop/Rap artists, the most infamous being ‘B-Free’. They deterred from scripted questions to diss RM & SUGA for leaving underground rap to be KPop Idols, ridiculed them as sellouts for going mainstream, called them girls for wearing makeup, and accused them of copying other artists.
