Hi Ivan another fabulous video. I've noticed that on some of the potato reveals some of the really small potatoes are being cast aside. A friend of mine from the USA has gave me a recipe for what she called tatter candy. She keeps all of her really small ones in a bag in the freezer until thanks giving or Christmas and serves them with dinner. She just par boils them for a few mins and then in a pan with a bit oil, garlic and rosemary frys them off and they are amazing. I've kept all my tiny little pea sized ones too and I plan on using her recipe on boxing day, just a thought to get use out of everything that has grown. After every potatoes harvest I've done I've just added to the bag in the freezer. Just an idea for you try 🙂🙂

A nice haul there Ivan. I do like the Sarpo range of spuds but I've read (in a few places) that they are slowly losing their blight resistance as the blight "mutates". A bit like the "Crush" range of tomatoes.

Great yielding potato is the Sarpo but I wasn't a fan of the actual taste, so havent grown them again. I've had a 42L container with the tops cut off a few days ago ready to harvest. Think todays the day after seeing this, may as well try a cpl carrots n parsnip or 2 from the raised bed while I'm at it. 👍

I always like to compare planting weight with harvest weight to see if I can hit the 10 multiple. If you got 6.59 lbs than those two would have to weigh less than 10.54 ounces combined. I have two average Sarpos here...15 ounces. Two smalls, 7 oz. Any idea what your starting weight was? Anyway, you probably got a higher multiple than I got here on the Maine coast (6.2)!

@@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk don't know if you remember but I was the person that made a home-made spray to rid my runner beans etc of aphids and ants and this must have stopped the pollinators too as you suggested, and yes after stopping doing this they were soon back and I am getting many beans now 😄

Will a 30 litre container be okay to grow Maris Piper potatoes in and what compost would you recommend Ivan?
