  • Happy 2020! I have had the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L since it was initially launched on Kickstarter. In this video I unbox and compare the V1 & V2 Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L and discuss what the new features are between the two models. You will have to decide for yourself if the updates made are worth the upgrade.

Just a heads up, you can remove the waist straps in the V1 bag. You just need to pull the straps out of the metal loop near the side pockets.

I rarely thumbs up videos but that was a really thorough comparison. Thanks so much! Convinced me to splurge on V2 w the strap info

Damn! The video quality is AWESSOOMMEE.
Love how you get into each of the small details of the bag.
Still debating if I should upgrade to the V2. I'm not a photographer myself though but I use it as a EDC bag and occasional overnight.

Keith Peng thank you so much. I’m always looking for ways to improve the quality. As far as upgrading, they are very similar. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Think Tank Urban Access soon to try out if I prefer the quicker internal access.

had both v1 and v2, and for some reason I just preferred the v1. Looks like v1 top flap opens bigger but looks a tad messy whereas v2 cleaned up the extra fabric for the top flap but by doing so it made the opening smaller slightly.

Thanks for the comment! I agree some of the design changes I don’t necessarily agree with. My only real problems with the v1 were the shoulder straps and how difficult it is to get to items you’ve placed in the center of the flex fold dividers. They chose to address one of those with the v2. I had a hard time debating if I wanted to upgrade or not.

I just got the V1 30L. I added an extra shelf. I enjoy having the extra space. Im moving up from the 20L.

I was deciding between this or the vinta backpack but after seeing how clean the all black looks on the V2 I’m gonna have to go with it (also think theres a lot more space with the PD backpack)

Great vid man. I have v2 in blue and love this bag. Definitely have some issues with the dividers and my usage but I really dig this bag.

I really like the plastic hooks on the V2. The metal ones on the V1 are SO difficult to remove and attach.

I want to get one but on the fence between the 20l and 30l. Right now I have a D7500 but switching over to mirrorless soon. Any thoughts?

I hate the straps on V1, so disappointed with it because it HURTS so much after a day of wearing. I'm on the fence on getting the V2 just to replace the V1. I'm considering other options

How are you liking the backpack after a month? I'm debating on getting it, but curious about the comfort. I'll be using as an EDC but also wearing it around Disney world for vacation so 10 hours or so a day in the park for a week. Curious if it would be comfortable enough

If he has still tags on ver 1 you will probably not going to get much real feedback how it's working on real use :-D

Reviewed this bag from the point of view a professional TV producer. Wasn’t for me at all. Not only does it make a poor camera bag (in a larger production setting - if you’re a wedding photographer it could work) but the lack of outside organization pockets means you have more steps to get to things compared to other bags, so it was a fail for me as an everyday bag.
The biggest problem is that the shoulder straps and harness system are poorly designed (a common complaint). When you wear the bag, you’ll notice it keeps on wanting to pull away from your back even if you pull the shoulder straps as tight as you can. This not only throws off the weight distribution but it adds a lot of pressure to already-too-thin shoulder straps which is why so many people complain about the straps cutting in to them. As a backpack - something to carry weight on your back - this is poorly designed. They focused on inside the bag and not on creating something you could carry comfortably - and if a backpack doesn’t function well as a backpack, there’s a design issue.
I know the factory where these are made in Vietnam- they cost $18/unit to manufacture . As a comparison, Vanquest bags are made in the same factory and cost $80/unit to manufacture (5 times as much). Do a review on one of those bags and you’ll see a huge quality difference and something that actually carries comfortably

I have that on my list for sure! As soon as I get my hands on one I’ll put it against a few popular bags. But I agree, people that have that bag love it!
