Love that Chris is also contributing to this series. I hope there will be more! Excellent and hilarious explanations, as well as a fantastic space themed intro.
I enjoyed Transformers the Deck Building Game solo after some tweaking. It's a very tight game that doesn't offer up crazy combos and I actually like that. While the theme doesn't shine through all the time there are moments where it really does. Like Optimus' ability to Transform before an ambush with +1 power is straight out of the movie. Little moments like that and some truly gruelling scenarios make the game fun. I really wish they would have done more with some of the expansions though.
Most deckbuilders the engine is same anyways with tweaks but if you don’t play or own a lot of deckbuilders and like Transformers theme, the Transformers deckbuilder is amazing, the art and gameplay. Yes there is a lot of rules to get through but once you do it is fun. Playing on hardmode makes it tough especially resources are scarce and you try to take out Megatron. Also a lot of the cards and schemes remind you of the G1 show.
@@ronthal Just being a bigger game doesn't mean I'm going to score it higher. Weather Machine is the more impressive design for sure! But I had less fun with it.
I think you're so off on the Transformers deck building game. I love it and have a blast with it every time because of the differences! It's an amazing game! I highly recommend it, especially if you're a Transformers fan. 😀
Pretty nice to see Soda Smugglers get a low score. Their parent company, Bitewing Games, bombards the boardgames subreddit with ads for their games masquerading as blog posts or lists. So blatant and unashamed.
Eh. I think this is a bit too dismissive and cruel. I think their posts are generally interesting things like top 10 lists and such that are the kinds of things most people enjoy in subreddits like that. If not, they wouldn’t get so many upvotes. Is it obviously marketing? Sure. Is it content that I enjoy? Yeah. Also I should add that, while I agree with Chris that Soda is the worst of the trilogy, nearly everyone I play it with really enjoys it. And I’ve shown it to a lot of people. I’d maybe give it a 6.5 but it’s very useful to have around for a very fast and streamlined game to bust out with mixed audiences.
I like the Transformers game, but I acknowledge that the rulebook isn’t so great and that the theme is a huge part of the fun. For Transformers fans only.
Is it fair to say that there are fewer bad big box games than card games? Is it that it requires more investment so better playtested? Or something else?
Sorry Chris you are way off here. Noli is a great con game with real time dice rolling and blind auctions and a lot of laughs. Fast playing to. Soda smugglers is a hand downs far superior version of Sheriff of Nottingham. It actually ends before the game becomes utterly boring oposed to Sheriff which runs for about 3 times the length
6:50 "You're trying to race to the end of the roller coaster first" 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for taking one for the team, Chris!

Oh no! I saw a play through of Noli on Quackalope, and they seemed to really enjoy it. Gonna have to do some more research on this one now...
Man, things have changes in a year, haven't they?
Thank you for these videos, I really like to know why they never got a full review
7:16 My favourite moment in this video! Add this one on a loop for the blooper reel!

What was your tweak/tweaking?
Wow when I first saw the cover for Noli I was like another Euro with classy artwork. Wow that game sounds insane haha
The infamous "don't do nothing" rule! 😂
Love your videos Chris, even when I don’t agree with all your opinions! And you have a great sense of humor! 😊

So the Weather Machine should have been on this list. Puts the 4 you gave to that game into perspective...
Nope. WM review was "You may enjoy this game even though I didn't," while this is "please do not buy these games."
Yeah I sort of agree with you. Soda Smugglers 5/10. Weather Machine 4/10. Doesn't make any sense to me.

something makes me think that Noli was designed to be a parody game of Euros....(which is something I've always wanted to design)
The Cones of Dunshire is also a pretty good one!
Not sure what it says about me, but I love these videos.
+100 for the VelociPastor reference!
Good stuff!
Pity about Noli. I really like the artwork.

Armadillo does look like a cute little game, if I found a copy of it for 10$ I’d probably buy it.
Sucks about Noli. I love the way it looks.

I've been paying back my student loans in dry pasta--is that not how it works?
You have to check with your discord lender if they're a pasta lender or a risotto lender.
Yeah I was excited for Transformers but didn’t like it at all. Much prefer the GI Joe Deck Building Game.
Same. Really like the GIJoe DBG.
@eriklindqvist9923 From what I hear GI Joe is much better.
"Most Italian rule I've read in a rulebook"
What I hear is that you haven't read the rulebook to the Campaign for North Africa.
My technicality is I haven't personally read the Campaign for North Africa rulebook. I love getting by on a technicality.
Shame about Noli, it looked really nice.
Could not disagree more on Transformers but there is no accounting for taste :P
Yay Chris! I hope you enjoyed your time in Maryland! 🦀🏇🐚
At least it looks pretty.
thanks, but I didn't have to play these games anyway :)
No! Bad Game!

Picnic looks terrible
This guy is the most negative reviewer in the Dice Tower.
I don't aim to be overly negative, but I also am not trying to lead people to buy games I genuinely don't think are good.
I was shocked the channel let Nothing Personal appear on the list. 🥷
