@@zztzgza he was talking about this on his last whatnot stream and was trying to get them to change it to the one ring, it's almost certainly a decision by whatnot and not the prof
Can we get an alternate title for this video? "The professor goes over his past videos, which if you remember having watched, may trigger a midlife crisis from the realization of how much time has passed."
@@jevonp I feel like I've been watching for 10 or so years now, back when I was a wee lad that just finished college. The perception of time betrays us hahah.
If you want to feel like this in real life, read some socialist theory and start to be able to see shit coming from a mile away, and everyone calls you crazy.
I can't wait for the "The Top Times Tolarian Community College Was WRONG About Magic: The Gathering!" it will definitely get more views I mean who can resist the professor roasting himself. But I very much enjoyed this video non the less.
Oh my gosh - your voice! Anyway, thank you for the great MTG education you provide. It has really helped me learn so I can play with my kids 😊 As one former teacher to another, I am not surprised you were right!!! (Oh, and I would love to play Thurid, Mare of Destiny, from Foundations! Actually, my kids said I need to, but I figured that out on my own LOL.)
I'm super hyped to bring the Beginner Box for Foundations to the Christmas family meeting, where for the first time in history, Magic can be played by beginners just like you would play a boxed and ready tabletop game! So just like with Bloomburrow and Duskmourn i'm hyped for the Foundations set as a whole.
to sum up the cards I'm most excited for in Foundations in a word: ELVES. we now have 4 differently named elf lords in standard atm, and lathril will be fun to try out in 60-card formats!
Not only that, but it will most likely not get reprinted again. Check out utter dross like Island of Wak Wak. It will get kept in collections as a curiosity, a piece of Magic history, and if it gets unbanned then expect it to jump.
Hey Professor. I just spent 6 hours trying to get any Secret Lair from Marvel. Even though I waited I didn't get any. I tried to log on at 12:01 and got on at 12:25. I quickly chose the entire drop in foil and waited. My queue number never changed. When I finally was up, nothing was available. Thanks WOTC. I'm 63 yo and my birthday is in 5 days. My children gave me the money to get this Marvel drop for my birthday. Happy Birthday to me.
Prof, you don't need to prove yourself to anyone. People will cry about your calls no matter how many time you get right. I can appreciate how much care and consideration goes into your predictions, much like that of a weather man than that of the proclaimed attention seeker.
You did an essay years ago comparing Jace and Urza, and that honestly had better be the #1 top time you were right, because you were as decidedly right as Gideon is decidedly male.
15:00 the funny thing about the atraxa popularity is before those decks dropped, the most popular commander at the time was Oloro at around 1700 decks total. these decks skyrocketed the popularity of commander and soon after atraxa had like 4k and now 35K!!!!
I'd love a sequel video with the biggest mispredictions as well! And foundations seems really exciting! I'm looking to get Arahbo for my cat commander deck.
While I agree with basically everything you said, I have a small point of contention with where you set hammer time with power crept out of the format. In reality it was not modern horizons 3 that put the final nail in the coffin of hammer time, but modern horizons 2. The printing of solitude and prismatic ending quickly being followed by Leyline binding in DMU allowing any deck playing white to attack hammer time from multiple directions is what pushed it from the format... 😊
14:41 after Najeela, the deck that gave me the most memorable memories in commander format with my buddies was the K&T group hug. Hahaha sooooo Toxic but so kawai at the same time. This was bonkers 😅
I'm absolutely looking forward to brewing with Hare Apparent in Pauper, and making a Dionus, Elvish Archdruid PDH deck. Plus, if it gets cheap enough, I might finally pick up a Doubling Season!
I remember the Oath of the Gatewatch pre-release and pulling a stamped thought knot seer. Immediately I knew it was going to be OP. a potential turn 2 4/4 AND exile a card from your opponents hand is absolutely absurd.
Kinda seems that there's enough discourse around a card getting previewed that it can be easy to just say what is going to be good or not. However, modern day constructed formats might be more difficult to predict and the flood or new cards and the inclusion of Commander cards dominating all products might still make this a challenge.
(un)fortunately I'm young enough to only remember Once Upon A Time from this list, but I do remember that it was doubted on the eldraine preview. People didn't think that a 2 mana dig 5 spell was worth putting in your deck just for the sometimes upside.
Magic Foundations really tapped into the Manifest Dread mechanic with how the art on some of the cards is manifesting dread in me! Thank goodness Pokemon released TCG Pocket to scratch my pack opening itch
I haven't played paper magic since kamigawa neon dynasty ( my first and favorite set ), but this foundations set got me interested again. I fell off of magic because everyone was only playing commander and I never had a good time playing it at a card shop. But it seems like everyone is excited to play standard with this new set so I'm stoked to be able to go back to my lgs and play regular magic again
Commie Commander here Prof, I think the reason it's 50.00 is because it's showing it's true value when it's not used for anything but existing as art ;). This is a wonderful source for my future video series about accessibility.
I have to say, though I think Prof is right, the first ban announcement after Duskmourn has not hit yet so it might be premature to claim victory on that Leyline of Resonance call

I loke how as we go back we get to see the professor become an increasingly younger 45 year old man.
😂😂😂
Excited to see the top 5 misses follow up! It would be fun to look back on!
Trinket mage!!! I love your videos!
"This is day 567 of evaluating if the professor was right about newly released cards"
Who let trinket out of his content dungeon?
“I’ve even been right in reverse”
I’m going to start using this whenever I’m wrong 😂
Not me reading this literally 3 seconds before he says it.
Can we get an alternate title for this video? "The professor goes over his past videos, which if you remember having watched, may trigger a midlife crisis from the realization of how much time has passed."

Maaaany Magic the Gathering players ask the question
"Can Wizards stop the ever marching flow of Time?"
Does this mean there's going to be a video titled 'The Worst Times Tolarian Community College Was Wrong About Magic: The Gathering!'? o.O
You can just watch him in gameplay videos!
Please say yes Prof
The professor is never wrong! Quoting many episodes of it 😂
@@nomenaumdisponivel Yes Prof.
So, like a second Shuffle up and Play?
Prof has the curse of being able to see the future and still can't win a game in shuffle up and play I feel for you man
A modern day Cassandra... 😢
How many outcomes did you see?
14,000,605
How many did you win?
None of them, but I know that escape titans and companion is broken

If you’re in the comments remember the marvel secret lair drop is like 15 minutes away and it’s gonna sell out immediately
SECRET LAIR ALERT
Saw this comment and decided to head there, almost forgot to get my Wolverine!
I just want to personally thank you because I COMPLETELY forgot that was today.
Actual life saver
I will eat my face if I can't buy one.
I think jeweled lotus is still $50 because people think wotc will unban it via their tier system that they’re working on
Not only that, but it will most likely not get reprinted again. Check out utter dross like Island of Wak Wak. It will get kept in collections as a curiosity, a piece of Magic history, and if it gets unbanned then expect it to jump.
There's a deck that's actually using it too, but it still shouldn't be so pricey
Brian showing years of receipts on this one. Of course his best call is "buy singles" on repeat.
Love this for you prof, nothing better than being right, especially when people doubt you.
I’m so happy prof could congratulate prof for his good work, good job prof!
I stopped keeping up with new sets and commander gameplay, but I love this Magic history from you prof. I'd love to see more of it!

What I can say with all the showings from old videos, Prof. only ages like fine wine, not only from his opinions but from his looks too.
That thumbnail is me to myself every time i make a good play and say “good play” to myself
This video reminds me of the Some More News episode where they had a very similar concept. Beautifully done
"My atog, all gone" always makes me smile. But honestly you're right, artifact lands should have been banned, they're the actual problem
