    Good problem for doing math in orderly way, d r and t makes a good way thru medium variables.
    The car running out of gas and hills and detours relate to each depending how you label each even in iffy word questions

    if a car is moving in a zig zag path in a straight line .. with constant speed .. can we say it is in uniform motion.

    i believe your wording in the question leaves ambiguity. I think the correct answer is 1800 miles. As each train has traveled 900 miles, so the TRAINS have traveled 1800 miles.

      Thanks for the comment, I suppose a better wording on my part would have been to say, "What is the distance from the train station to the trains, when the second train catches up to the first." I see your logic, both trains have traveled 900 miles each, so they have both put 900 miles on their odometers, totaling 1800 miles.
