Hello Paddy. I am watching this video again as I just received my own A Wright Barlow. It’s the basic rosewood budget version. I must say that I am very impressed. Thank you for the tip. An excellent value it is. Fit and finish on mine is near perfect. And it came adequately sharp. The pull on mine is very robust. Probably at least a 9. It is exquisitely painful to open. But that will not deter me from using. It will be getting a lot of pocket time. God bless. Thank ya much. ✝️✌🏼🏌🏻‍♂️

Paddy yes I agree with you but if I’m honest you can’t beat old fashioned hand made tools I love the Barlow knives a lot always carving great stuff out of branches rough rider is my favourite maker as my funds are very limited stay safe 🐾🦊🇬🇧🍀

I have never been much of a Barlow fan but that may change, that is one of the nicest Barlows I have seen, if you compare it to the Bokers at double the price, the A.Wright blows them out of the water. Much nicer looking in my opinion and it's British.

Hope you weren't damaged by those knives Paddy - they both have awesome blades!
I own both of those knives and agree 100% with you. The TEW is a solid work knife but has rough edges and benefits from a bit of extra finishing on the handle. However the AW, for a few £'s extra is a wonderful knife - well worth buying.

I can say having bought a few earlier this year straight from the UK; I did pretty good. The price of shipping can vary in cost by a little from different Shops; but, you are getting a knife made the old fashion way. That is one way to look at it; that makes the extra trouble worth the time if you are buying them from the US. You may have to wait longer if you buy from some Shops wanting certain models; it just takes longer. I think the best bargain knives are the Stag cover ones. They cost a little more but, a lot less than American models do; that is if you like Stag antler covers. These knives sell quick since someone started showing them off on RUclips that is for sure. So did the Ganzo G729 knives from the last video someone made too. They came and went like the wind; I wonder how that happened? There all gone on Amazon. I got one today and it is pretty big and real sharp; I didn’t expect it was so big for the price. There are none even mention on Ganzo website. All these Ganzo are gonzo now! 🍀🥔🔪✨😱🤣😂

I have a Eye Witness barlow that I REALLY like. It's a no nonsense knife with a personality. It's pure function and the snap to the half stop to open and back to closed is so forceful and definite, it made me jump the first time I looked at it. I'm a big fan of Sheffield knives, so I just ordered this A Wright with a horn handle and the fancy schmancy hand made Eye Witness barlow with the horn handle. I think you have one of those too. Thanks for the tips!

You're about right with the waiting times for a "custom" senator I purchased from arthur wright I asked them to put a tackler blade on it instead of the lambfoot I waited just under 2 months. 👍

I sincerely hope you were badly wounded by one of both Barlow's there. Really something that could have happened to me. Very nice Christmas gift. The wood like wonderfull and the finish on the blade and bolsters is beautyfull. I really would like to see the mid-range knife next to see why it is a mid-range. Thank you for the review Paddy.

On my one, the blade is curved. Looks like they bent the blade to centre it. Doesn’t effect the usage but a bit strange. I also own the 2.blade version and the main blade has the nail nick on the wrong side so you have to open the pen blade to open the main one. This is not a one off, I have heard of other people with the same problem. Good knives but with big issues. Taylor’s eye wittiness are a lot better quality. Thanks for the review and stay lucky mate.
