Some parrots seem to mimic while others seem to have an actual grasp of the words' meanings. Gizmo is definitely singing to himself for fun, and actually has conversations that make sense! Amazing.

Scientific research into animal intelligence places certain birds "which includes crows and ravens too" as being at least as intelligent as a 6 year old human. They can be VERY smart and self aware. We know so little about the real depth of ability in animals. Bees will play with balls for fun, WILD MICE love wheels, and anyone who has watched Discovery has seen our captive ape and elephant observations.

@@WhatWillYouFind yeah I actually thought it was literally just mimicing words until basically now. I've even commented on another video about that I smell bs but no, this parrot know at least a few words and the actual meaning of them and how to use them. Very very awesome

@@WhatWillYouFind Maybe not as smart as a 6-year-old human. 2-year-old humans can talk completely fluent, describing their emotions and surroundings with incredible detail and cohesion. Even the smartest of animals can't come close to it. People give too much credit for these animals for doing the most simple things like repeating sentences or stealing food.

    • @not58me
      @not58me 11 месяцев назад +29

@@---1001--- inteligence is not linear like that, though. Just because they can't speak as well as 6 year olds does not mean they aren't as smart as 6 year olds. Their brain functions in a completely different way than human brain, so its hard to compare it like that.

It's so amazing to hear, as my grandparents had a grey and he sometimes sounded like grandma, or grandpa and just like any grey at the same time, just like Gizmo. The only difference being that Robert spoke German instead of English. 😆
Even the stupid whistling sounds were so much the same. Whistling melodies that we didn't teach him...but I doubt that they're genuine parrot sounds. The wild ones surely don't sit around in the Kongo and whistle somewhat like humans. So the pet greys sometimes just make stuff up that sounds like us, whistling and babbling. 😂

The African Grey are the only parrots that can mimic different people's voices... Mine is 36 years old, it was My wife's, She died in 2003 from Cancer. It took years before it would let Me handle it & still won't Step Up on my hand. They are Very intelligent & require attention. Mine does Not like to be taken off it's cage. It is also shy, doesn't like Some men.. ? The woman I got mine from hand fed them from the time they hatched, But She died just after this one hatched & Her husband had to take over the feeding, etc. I'm sure it was hard for the grieving husband to take over all the care it takes to feed & the attention they need !
Parrots can live up to 100 yrs. They require a lot of attention, they WILL chew anything they can get their beak on, such as electrical cords, your furniture, etc. They are like a 2 yr. Old, getting into everything, They can also Learn amazing things ! Such as, people's names, colors, what items are made of... Plastic, metal, cotton, rocks, they can make up names for things... Mine eats VegAll sometimes & has cooked, soft corn in it, the 3D brand seeds I feed it has hard corn in it... The parrot started calling the hard corn ....
"Rock Corn" !! Because it is hard as a rock..! It STILL calls Me in My Wife's Voice after 20 years..! They is no telling what they may start saying, My Wife dropped a glass once and said, "SHIT".... To this day, That's it's favorite Word... It even sings it,... "Shit, shit, shit-shit-shit-SHeeIT ^"...! AND,
      Barney Fife's whistle... LOUD...!
We didn't know if it was a Male or Female until it was about 7 years old when it laid it's first eggs ..!
** Buying one is a life long commitment, if They don't get enough attention They may start
Feather Plucking, Self Mutilation , which is Sad, & probably won't stop.. They make good pets, BUT BE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THEY REQUIRE A LOT OF ATTENTION & THEIR LONG LIFE SPAN. I suggest a Cocktail first, they are good talkers, they will fly around the house to find you, they can live into their teens...!

That "beep!" made me laugh so much. I used to be a vet tech and my coworker rescued parrots. This African Grey lost his owner due to illness and she was trying to help him socialize so he could find a new home.
For some reason our fire alarm at the clinic kept "malfunctioning" and making the low battery beep. After changing the battery twice we called out the fire department and they said nothing was wrong after testing it.
The African Grey's perch was under the fire alarm. He learned to perfectly mimic it because the staff would come in the room to check on the fire alarm and inevitably he got attention.
He is in a good forever home now. Hopefully not mimicking fire alarms.

When Gizmo did the water and said that no one else could tell, it makes a lot of sense. The sound was so accurate, it scares me. 😋😆👏

OH, my word! That was truly amazing! I've heard talking birds before, but this little guy was just amazing! But I have to give credit where credit is due. This lady who trained Giz spent so much time and work with him, Not to mention love, she equally deserves praise!
