+J Simo Don't know about knees, but your back will definitely hurt after this.I'd rather do the work the other guy is doing, bringing the bricks to the guy laying them.
I did a huge amount of block paving back in the 80s when of course I was alot fitter. With 2 of us laying we used to achieve 80 to 100 metres a day. Its all good if the blocks and sand are to hand when needed. We had a guy who used to just cut in. And we would jump in when not laying or screeding sand. It really keeps you fit. This guy knows his stuff. Keeping that orientation is alot harder than it looks. If you get it wrong you could spend an hour or more with a shovel lining the blocks back up. We also used to put blocks end down in the gaps ready for cutting. It also helps to keep the gaps true. 👍👍Bloody good job.
I remember one time I was laying a court yard. I was the cut man and I layed brick. Luckily this day I didn't cut and I was just laying. The foreman wanted to cut this particular day cuz it was a lot of pipes in the blue print. As I was laying and he was cutting he accidentally cut one of the pipes and water got all in the sand. Mannnnn it was a headache trying to repair that. We got the job done before the deadline thank God lol
Funny how these comments are full of apparently expert pavers who can lay better and faster than this guy, and yet every block paved drive I have ever seen looks like it was laid by a blind paraplegic with Parkinson's. I now realise it's because all the good guys are sitting at home slagging everyone else off.
i do this for a living yes i can see where his error's are lol so yea i kinda am an expert im a foreman and he's doing a decent job he keeps having to push in his line the string line is your guide you mess a bit here at the end of the driveway it will ne a nightmare
Spencer Wilton mate this one time I got paid 20 million pounds to lay a path through the middle of Manchester cos I'm actually that fast that it would take all others 20 years and it took me 2 weeks eye Good contract that. Most I did was 6776 80mm block pavers in one day at a Telfords barratts job. Uphill and sometimes loading out to myself because the Labourer didn't have the strength to push a pack on the brick trolley up the incline. Looks like me n this guy could blockpave the UK in just under a week :D
Stuart Davis plus the sand doesn't even look very wacked and they're not using walking boards, but all that aside it's the prep work, digging off, laying crushed concrete or type1 if it's an adopted road, making sure the falls are right so you don't end up with puddling that matters, not just throwing down some little 50mm blocks, that's the easy bit! lol!
I know this man he’s name is Victor, he retired from laying block paving at 32, without a doubt the fastest blocker I’ve ever seen do it, he laid & cut in 215 square meters 22 packs of block paving in one day, this man is a legend in the paving game.
Nice job I get a little dyslexic doing this type of work especially when you're using like four different kinds of pavers even huge ones I lose track of the pattern
After 2 metres he was already half an inch moving away from the string line so at that rate he would be well out by the time he gets half way... He should lay off a straight edge instead of a line. I bet the brick looked all over the place when he finished, it's ok doing it quick but it needs to look good too lol
it helps to know what your doing in something like this.the ground must be flat and level.mums the word, flat and level.respect for our cousins accros the sea.

the sand should be levelled and screed to proper levels before so you just put the wacker plate on them after with the brushing in sand there is no need to tap and level them
Need to know how you are making bricks stay in place. Just bought bricks to do patio in this pattern. My husband believes that there has to be a space between bricks. I do not want a space. the big question is what are you putting on top to keep them in place. I have two pallets of bricks. You are an awesome paver but would like to see the whole job. Thanks for any advice you can give. This is a first time for us but my husband has plenty of building experience just not with bricks.
Brandon O'Shields Not a brickie, or a paver, but i am sure the bricks/ blocks usuually have 2 protruding groves down each side which creates the small space between bricks. The space is to put (usually) kiln dried sand down to complete it and you can also seal it with patio/ driveway sealer too. Hope that helps.
+Brandon O'Shields Late answer, but you use sand, a lot of sand on the bricks, sweep it over with a broom so sand goes in between the bricks. You also want to sweep sand over later on after rainy days and such to refill, until they are totally stable.

People get confused as to why sometimes you get tradesman that are quick but efficient. But then there are efficient tradesman that take their time. and then there are tradesman that are quick but leave the site ‘unfinished’. hourly rate is excusable when you are this good. you pay for the quality of the end product and if time is of the essence this man should be awarded the same if. Why is there a single loose paver left for the stacks to be set on. So they know where to set the next stack at?
If you dont leave one they have to drop the stack on the pavers which would ruin it.
