Mercer Frey is, in my opinion, the single best antagonist in the game. And he isn't in it for absolute power or immortality or the destruction of the world. His goals are small enough that he doesn't get blinded by them like so many of the other antagonists.
@@HappyBeezerStudios The main thing is that he isn't some major supernatural threat, he's just an incredibly skilled and intelligent thief with a lot of patience. lets not forget that an aldmeri victory may also mean the end of the world itself, in that context compromising with the mongrel dogs of the empire to preserve the existence of the dunmer may be the only option.
The thing is, Skyrim can be defended with half a brain that Ulfric has. Not to mention, realistically the moot should vote for the dragonborn, why? The dragonborn has led almost every major battle of the war. The troops would be loyal all the same, and it cuts Ulfric down to a position he can't really rebel when his loyal troops would probably readily accept the dragonborn. Plus, the ways into Skyrim are terrible. Mountainous everywhere, one road from Cryodiil? Warfare with sword and shield was very different, they'd merely have to avalanche in the roads in, destroy the Thalmor's support wagons, and watch them starve in the cold snow.
I think defending Skyrim from the Thalmor wouldn’t be as hard as you’re making it out to be. As other comments have stated it’s in a very defensible position surrounded by mountains. Plus we’ve seen that it can be done through the example of the Redguards in Hammerfell. However, the loss of Skyrim will most likely result in the Empire being too weak to resist the Thalmor. The massive loss of Nord recruits and supplies from Skyrim would severely weaken the Legion if it came to a second Great War.
@@GenBrony you're assuming the Aldmeri Dominion would opt for standard warfare. They're a race of Elves talented in magic. My biggest issue with the Companions quest is that the Silver Hand are just glorified bandits with Silver weapons. In my opinion, the Vigilants of Stendar should’ve been the antagonists for the Companions. At least their “faction” had motivation for elimination of werewolves, since they’re technically Daedric thanks to Hircine. Additionally, you could’ve had the options of joining the Vigilants after finding out that the Companions were werewolves, and fighting on their side to eliminate them from Whiterun.
I once saw an khajiit necromancer. He was an alfiq, house cat sized necromancer who lives under the colovian fur helm of his zombie, and tries to pass off off as a normal person
The most ironic part about the Thieves Guild questline in Skyrim is that the Grey Fox originally found the Thieves Guild and built it's entire foundation upon the Grey Cowl that was originally stolen from Nocturnal herself. He never actually worshiped the Daedra himself. The whole Nightingale thing in Skyrim with worshiping Nocturnal contradicts what originally happened in the Thieves Guild questline in Oblivion. So with that in mind, you can't really blame why Mercer Frey decided to betray the guild. The Thieves Guild in Oblivion was all about the Robinhood-like philosophy of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. The Thieves Guild in Skyrim is a mafia-like organized crime syndicate who has no problem taking bribes to keep people like Maven Black-Briar in power in the city in Riften meanwhile the Jarl is completely irrelevant. There's good evidence to support this like that one mission where you break into Mercer's house in Riften where you can find Chillrend (a weapon that's also in Oblivion) and a stone bust of the Grey Fox himself. So with this in mind, you can say that Mercer was a big admirer of the Grey Fox and was only following in his footsteps. Then the irony gets even worse after you kill Mercer and retrieve the Skeleton key off his corpse. Im sure that 99% of players never actually complete the questline because the trade-off for turning in the skeleton key isn't nearly as good as the key itself. Nocturnal must suck as a god if her artifacts create a massive loophole that she can't even control herself.
I always return the Skeleton Key. First, because I want to complete the Quest regardless of the price. Second, because I like being invisible. Third, because screwing around with a Daedra after you've pledged your soul to him is a problem. And actually, I like this Thieves' Guild better than this one from Oblivion. Robin Hood? I side with the empire even though the siege on whiterun is cooler when you side with the stormcloaks balgruuf is probably the only jarl I have genuine respect for
Balgruuf has enough sense to put on armor during the siege of Whiterun, unlike Ulfric when you siege Windhelm, Ulfric's like "Oh I know like two shouts, I don't need armor when the goddamned dragonborn is coming for me"

This one should have been left on the farm and should not have been trusted with such an important decision.
@@alekz8580Who let you out of your pen? Who is your owner?
Next Skyrim character concept. Argonian necromancer, thank you Lord Dagoth!👍
You are welcome!
Why would a farm tool need more farm tools?
@@Gultist We call that a tractor in Solstheim.
I am convinced this is the real Dagoth Ur who has leaked from the dream and discovered the internet
Oh daddy Dagoth, you have to at least respect Ysgrammor for slaughtering hundreds of elves. Which indeed takes a man of great power to accomplish.
What a grand and intoxicating video lord da’goth
“Their antagonist is some Draugh’r named Olaf one eye. Last time i checked he had two eyes. But Nord N’Wahs are really creative with their names .”
Petulant Oculatus
“Baxilt-Gah” - Argonian Necromancer
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Apparently in lore the kingdom of Argonia has a large number of necromancer, enough to summon an army of skeletons in the crater that was Vivec.
Amazing!
*_"Come, Nerevar, come."_*
*_*Cyberpunk meme activates*_*
So that's why an Ash Zombie got caught by my security Fabricants.
Yes
Still waiting on Lord Dagoth to give us his opinions on the Creation Club weapons. I mean, of course we all now that they are mostly terrible, but hearing his godly jokes and insults about them is very entertaining. I'm especially interested on his thoughts about Stendars Warhammer.
The weapons in saints & seducers are pretty alright
Chrysamere is pretty good
Hence why I said "mostly", there are some that are nice, some that are more niche, but most are just wall hangers.
There is one farm tool (argonian) necromancies I think, in the quest for the galdur amulet, you go thru a crypt to get a piece for y’all.
Dagoth ur ranks elder scrolls classes?
Not a bad idea
I did the Thieves Guild questline for the first time yesterday (no its not my first Skyrim playthrough) and i have o say Mercer was an awesome villain and the build up leading to the confrontation with him was insane.
"I mean Galmar Stone-Fist. He just sounds like Grandpa Max."
I can't unhear it now.
Dagoth Ur speaks the truth. I never encountered a farmtool in any TES game beeing a necromancer 🤔
thank you lord dagoth this sermon was the exact amount of time it took me to eat a bowl of ramen
God i fucking love this series
Thank you!
I love how you keep calling the Penitus Oculatus the Petulant Oculatus haha.
For the first time EVER in the history of Skyrim, I actually bothered to playthrough the Dawnguard DLC and freed Serana for my first time. She is now my new waifu. Hands off.
Dagoth Ur should review the Conquest of Skyrim mod one day. That mod honors the sixth house and the tribe unmourned.
There is a farm tool necromancer in Skyrim who tries to kill the dragonborn in the cave where you find the burning soul trap axe.
6:05 I've never seen a farm tool necromancer but I have spoken to a talking sword.
Petulant Oculatus. Praise the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned!
Welcome Dagoth❤
You say "send an ash zombie to my house" like it's a threat, Lord Dagoth. We call that "morning excersize" in this house. So please, continue to send them. It amuses the children of the hamlet when their heads get powderized by my warhammer.
Is that a divine synth I can hear?... It must be Sharmattin' time!
👁️👄👁️
I have been blessed by a fragment of the Heart of Lorkhan. Praise beith to the Sixth House on this fine day.
If Galmar was actually Grandpa Max I would do my first stormcloak run if skyrim in 11 years.
Same voice actor
@@ZakeandZach My brother, I'll never be able to fight for the empire from now on. I can't hurt Grandpa Max.
@@dantereinhardt6911 The moment I heard Galmar's voice in 2011 I was immediately like GRANDPA MAX IN SKYRIM?!
@@ZakeandZach Hahahahahahaha, if I had known I'd probably have joined the stormcloaks. Unfortunately I wasn't raised with the english version of Ben 10, so it would have been hard to recognize it.
Reezal-Jul is an argonian necromancer in Rivenspire in ESO.
I am planning on playing through ESO
Petulent Occulatus, as per the wishes of Lord Dagoth. May Morrowind be ported into the Skyrim engine soon.
My dagoth is ready
I call them petulant oculatus so as to honour the sixth and the tribe unmourned by writing such on the parchment
They are indeed the Petulant Oculatus, my Lord.
What a grand and intoxicating God tier burn you bestow upon us.
Don't worry Dagoth, we will be sure to honour the Sixth House and the tribe Unmourned.
Come, come 🫴💦
Petulant Oculatus, in honor of the sixth house and the tribe unmourned
I know the Thalmor really needed more presence in Skyrim, but I wish Morokei was the primary antagonist of The College - because the Dragon Priests were also underutilized. Viking lich priest kings? Fucking metal.
I almost forgot: Petulant Oculatus I hope I honored the 6th house and Tribe Unmourned
Petulant Oculatus!
Petulant Oculatus
We honor the sixth house and the tribe unmourned.
Wow, Dagoth really fucking tripped up with Volkihar
It would to see Dagoth play CK3 and as the clan that worship the Six House.
Argonan Necromancer: Hides Among Shadows. My ESO OC xD
Reminder. The Empire is doomed no matter what. All their provinces are experiencing tragedy and the Emperor gets assassinated.
If the Thalmor is to be defeated, a Dragonborn powered independent Skyrim needs to exist.
College: Again, no option to outright kill Ancano like any smart good guy would do.
Petulant Oculatus,
Honor to the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned.
I would have said colonel Campbell, but uncle Max works too
I do know of a Kajiit with considerable power - he goes by the name Maiq.
but is he a necromancer? Or does he just romance the neck?
@@ZakeandZach "Necromancer" is far too crude of a term to describe Maiq's power.
@@ailius1520 Farm tools have no power here
I once witnessed a farm tool performing necromancy on rats. What a grand and intoxicating innocence farm tools should not play with their peers.
I side with the empire even though the siege on whiterun is cooler when you side with the stormcloaks balgruuf is probably the only jarl I have genuine respect for
Balgruuf has enough sense to put on armor during the siege of Whiterun, unlike Ulfric when you siege Windhelm, Ulfric's like "Oh I know like two shouts, I don't need armor when the goddamned dragonborn is coming for me"
Petulant Occulatus. That's a good one.
Petulent Oculotis had me laughing
Glad you enjoyed it
Well at least lord Dagoth can see that joining the Legion is ridiculous....didn't have to diss my high king like that tho 🤣
Lord dagoth can you rank vampire clans from daggerfall all the way up to eso as eso has some badass vampires also it has mother lamae bal's line
I've recently seen an Argonian necromancer, it was me.
Petulant Occulotus! Praise to Dagoth Ur of the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned!
Petulent Occulatus wouldn't have stood a chance agaisnt the Morag Tong
I am honoring the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned by writing Petulant Oculatus on the parchment below bless you Lord Dagoth
i am 100% sure the silverhand are just renamed bandits. It'd explain why the Skinner can be different races. And this is also obvious because if you aren't part of the companions, but you so much as pass by their base in the north the guys on the outside will attack you on sight. Just like bandits would.
Wait. Ash zombie... THAT WAS YOU!?
But ulfric hates the dunmer and forces them to live in the gray quarter of windhelm
Wait what, you become the new head of the Volkihar when siding with the vampires? I always thought it was lazy writing, having you fight against Harkon even though he has shown now attempt at treason. I was also disappointed at not being able to talk with him about it anymore either. I thought the DLC would simply be over after killing Harkon. :y
You get to destroy the Dawnguard
Reeza Jul from eso is a necromancer farm tool
I hereby honor the sixth house and the tribe unmourned by writing Petulant Oculatus lord Dagoth
Hey at least the ash zombies keep Umbra quiet just wondering why is there a huge hole in their face kind of defeats the intimidating factor of you ask me
Petulant Oculatus, for the honor of the Sixth House and the Tribe Unmourned.
