Excellent commentary on the technology and build quality. I agree. I have a new colt anaconda 4 inch and 6 inch, just ordered an 8 inch. Will be putting similar wood grips on the six and 8 inch and already did that to the 4 inch.
Hi Terry, beautiful guns you have there. I am always a fan of the colt python. I saw it in one of the Dirty Harry movies Magnum Force as a child. It was used by those four rogue cops in the movie. I have a couple of questions for you. When the colt pythons were reintroduced in 2020, wasn’t there a recall about a side plate screw coming loose causing timing issues? Second, has Colt started fixing the rear sight issue. I would love to get a python but only if they got rid of the bugs. You’re right $1500 is a steal for a classic handgun like that. Thanks.
I have a video comparing the old vs. New one. The side plate only happened to some of the very first few. It was such a minor thing that got blown out of proportion. That issue has been resolved. The sight thing has never been fixed. You ha e to just order the wilson combat site. It fixes everything. Check out the side by side comparison video. I would highly recommend getting one of the new ones
Have you ever heard of anyone say that the pythons and anacondas have Hollow under lugs? Ive heard it before. I dont know if they were talking about thw vintage ones or the new ones but i dont know if any of it is true either.
@RevolverTv the very first 5 years or so they were hollow. After that they made them solid. They came out in 1955 so a little ways into the 1960s they were hollow
Glad to see this video. I don't have a 44magnum revolver so I been studying most of them. Your video has convince me to buy the new Anaconda. Lots of good comments about it here and many other sites. Thank you.
@The Negociater they are the Altamont Grips Python Elite Grips. The saying that I put on them.are from my favorite movie Pulp Fiction. That was the waller Samuel L. Jackson had.
I got a question. I just picked up my 8" Anaconda last week and I already had the 6" Python and after comparing both next to each other it seems like my Python has a more mirror polish to it and the Anaconda is a more matte polish. Has anyone noticed this about there Anaconda?
What barrel lengths are these pistols? Where can these grips be purchased? Thanks! What barrel length do you recommend on the Python, 4.25” or 6”. I have 2.5, 4, & 6” S&Ws
@@TerryBenton I have both. I kept trying to see an external difference between both. It looks like the Python’s hammer is pointed more upward than the Anaconda.
@@TerryBenton It's a general difference. The guns are fine. It's just a detail for people who try to guess if It's a Python or an Anaconda they saw in a game or a movie
@@SpaceBethC131 right. I usually notice everything. I did not notice that. The old anaconda and python were light years apart when it came to the hammers. I actually compare them in another video
Issues: finish QC not good. Grainy SS to marginally polished, Triggers way overated (reset long, single action stiff, not like a good SW), Grips look cheap (both models), early models SS shockingly gouged out under grip), near frame, barrel recess is not sharp, looks like it came out of a mold instead of machined, double action ( like old snake guns) spongy. BUT ... Vent rib, no mm parts and wonder fitting, second ti none ..... But why do the job, if you dont do it right!
@robertwinkler4719 the QC has gotten under control. The double action on the new ones are amazing. Anaconda comes with rubber grips because of the 44 mag recoil. You are rigjt about the wood laminate grips. They are a really good gun for the orice you pay.the Anaconda is a million steps up from the old ones. The pythons are a slight step down fro. The old one is bit still better than anything else you can buy off the shelf today. Thanks for watching
Can that bar code be polished out of the frame without leaving a noticeable difference in the finish? My 460 and 500 Smiths have those hideous looking things. At least Colt never put a Hilary hole in the frame for the guns to be disabled with a key like S&W did. I bought a 2 1/2" Python a couple of weeks ago and its ten day waiting period will be over on Mon. or Tues.of next week,M.L. King day doesn't count in the 10 day countdown and neither do week ends! Thanks Washington Democrats!!!
Your videos on these two models are excellent and very detailed. Thank you.

Those babies are worth evey bit of their M.S.R.P
Yes they were. Thank you for watching
Umm he didn't do a safety check on the barrel.
@mrfarts5176 you can clearly see the barrel is empty....
Where did you get those anaconda grips??
A company called Boone Trading Company
Were did you get the white grips?
I got them from. A place called Boone Trading Company online
@@TerryBenton is there a certain name for that grip

They are really awesome
My python dates from 1979 and still has the bluing that makes grown men cry. Old school rules!
I also have Older revolvers and you are right. They command alot more prestige however there is nothing wrong with the new Colt revolvers
@@thenegociater3387 sadly not the original but a nice hogue monogrip in Cherry rosewood

I am sure colt will produce a few in blue so to make old men continue to cry. ;-)
Men don't cry Boi. If a human cries it mean they a B!tch.
Do you prefer the 4-inch or the 6-inch
@@bigv467 i like the 4 inch version of both of these. It is my favorite size revolver. It is just personal preference.
I just bought the anaconda, waiting for the 10th day
Did colt fix the issue with the rear sight on the newer production?
No. The sights on the new ones are terrible. They fir very loose. Order a Wilson Combat rear site
I fixed the crappy sights by putting a vice grip on the front and bending the sight and then hitting it back on with a hammer and its super tight now
Wow, that is a different approach. Thanks for watching

My anaconda actually has more shine to it. Go buy a can of neve dull a d wipe both of them down with it. They will.tuen out nice
probably the difference between stainless and polished nickel
Beautiful revolvers
Thank you
Can't wait for the new blue python coming out
I have not heard anything about them. I was sorta expecting that this year but they announced the 4 inch Anaconda.
@@TerryBenton I email Colt every month..nothing concrete on a date but they're coming
awesome iron's. Have both.
Thanks. Congratulations on having both
Another great common sense video thank you 👍
Yw. Thank you for watching
Own both, don’t like most colt guns but the snake series has some nice pieces
Yes they are really nice. Tha KS you for watching
I read, the anaconda will handle hotter loads than, Smith, or Taurus.
This is more than likely true due to its Beefy frame and large cylinder
Good video, sad about sights aside they are a true investment ,take the Python for all around,"make my day" go with Anaconda. Thanx P.S. Tx.

The anaconda is a 6 inch. The python is a 4.25 inch. The synthetic ivory grips are from a company out west. The python grips are Altamont
I own a Colt anaconda, 8 inch barrel, beautiful gun.
Very cool
also capable of taking buffalo bore Heavy .44 Magnum +P+ Ammo 340 gr. Hard Cast

It’s seem the Python has a higher hammer
I think they are about the same
