"Critics were divided on the merits of Schwarzkopf's voice, however, A New York Times tribute by Anthony Tommasini cited two reviews from the newspaper's archives: One claimed "she had a superior voice (a smooth, glamorous lyric soprano) and superior technical command," while another asserted her fame was "a triumph of intelligence and willpower over what was basically an unremarkable voice."... she gave her farewell performance in Brussels as the Marschallin in 1971, though she still continued to sing lieder recitals until 1978". Ich bin süchtig nach ihrer Stimme, seit vielen Jahren. Es gibt noch jemand, und das ist Franco Corelli. Nicht zu vergleichen? Grosser Irrtum. Beide singen mit Obertönen, jederzeit mühelos, es fliesst nur so aus ihnen heraus. Beide sind für mich wie ein Heilbad, in dem ich mich ungeheuer wohlfühle. Ja, ich kann in beide hinenschlüpfen und nachempfinden was sie tun, nämlich Mund aufmachen und "fliessen" lassen.

Man/You need a very, very, very close relationship to M O Z A R T when you will understand Schwarzkopf. When you dont posess these relationship all would be in vain.
