Great video - easy to follow instructions! My husband and I used this to do 8 jars in Summer Porch Yellow for our grandaughter's 1-year birthday party! We used the Ball jars (more sanding for the lettering but thought it added more variation and lets more light shine thru if using in the daylight). Thanks for including the reference list of items needed and where to find them. I had some time so was able to find some items cheaper on the Walmart site and Target pickup.
I'm an Annie Sloan and chalk paint addict and have been painting furniture ,jars, mirrors ,frames etc for 11 years as a business, so just my opinion. I know the jars are sometimes hard to sand and you do have to go in a circle motion sanding them at times. Like I mentioned a real used or worn sanding block that's pretty flat works great to give you a smooth finish and control so it doesn't look scraped. But if that's what you like the of course enjoy, everyone likes their own thing. Good luck :)
You are amazing with diy projects! Watching your videos gets me so excited for a house! I am over the apartment life lol. I hope you do that Q&A soon! Also maybe an inspired tutorial? I'd love to see you do a Lana Del Rey look with big hair and a nice wing!
I am about to paint my first mason jar...! It belonged to my grand mother, she canned A LOT! The the top edge of the jar is cracked, and I am afraid to use it for food. (I do not can, but I do use them for food storage) This morning I thought, paint it! I have painted milk bottles and other jars, but never a mason jar. I love the look, but just haven't done that yet. I guess I feel, because they were grandma's jars, that I shouldn't paint them. Since this one is cracked, I will try it and at least I can use it in my decor. We had a TON, and I mean a TON of mason jars that were my grand mothers. We sold a lot of them at a garage sale, which now, I wish I had held onto them. I still have many of them though. Some of them are very old with the glass lids and the thin wire that holds the lid in place. Those I do not use for food. lol Some are blue, some are a pale aqua. Most are clear. All different brands. My grandma passed away in 2015, she was 96 or 97, she didn't have a birth certificate, I guess it was lost in a fire. She lived alone in a big ole house right up until the last few years of her life when she had to go into a nursing home. Anyway . . sorry for the story... I am going to paint my little jar today! Thanks for this video!
I made these for a baby shower and they were so beautiful. I was disappointed that the paint bubbled and peeled off when the jars got wet. I even did the wax coating but still had this happen. Perhaps these are better for dried flowers.
Thanks Wendy! I wish i get to find your channel long before, but anyway, your teaching is amazing and perfect I just subscribed you and can't wait to start making this project,
Hi Wendy! This is unrelated to your video but have you ever tried Clinique Take off the Day Cleansing Balm? From your past videos, it seems like you might have similar skin to mine (very acne prone, sensitive, breaks out easily), and I would love to know if you have tried this product? I just bought it on online but am still hesitant to use it because I'm afraid of getting more acne... however most reviews I have watched here on youtube and read say it is safe. I would still like to know if you have tried it though. I value your opinion! And if not, perhaps you might think of trying it? I'm curious to know if it would work for you.
I tried to paint my mason jars with Apple Barrel Acrylic and waited overnight between coats but it rubs off when I start to paint over it. Will this paint not do this?
Hi Wendy, I LOVE this idea, and it is perfect for some upcoming projects. I was wondering, could you use rice lights for a luminary look? Thanks for sharing this idea.
These are so chic and cute, especially for Spring! Also love hydrangeas and those look fab in these jars. Thanks for this tutorial, definitely makes me want to go down to Michaels asap! Future crafting trip together? :)

Thank you so much super helpful video! What is the best way you have found to ship the jars? I am worried about crushing my flowers
You should do videos about what else you can do with the matte paints!
I love these! Thanks for sharing!

can you use normal acrylic paint? and do you suggest a matte sealer?
DIY Home Decor ♡ Chalk Painted Mason Jars for Spr…: ruclips.net/video/wdpIsPsLqpw/видео.html
I’m watching now May of 2023. 8 years later from your post. TY
are they waterproof ?
Love it
very nice tutorial.
I would say yes. I have chalk painted furniture and if I did not apply the wax the paint would rub/peel off.
Very nice thank you for sharing
Does the paint come off when washing the jars (by hand)??
Hi Wendy!
This is unrelated to your video but have you ever tried Clinique Take off the Day Cleansing Balm?
From your past videos, it seems like you might have similar skin to mine (very acne prone, sensitive, breaks out easily), and I would love to know if you have tried this product? How long do you need to let them dry before applying second coat?
Does the wax you used protect the paint from coming off? I'm making one of these today for a "keep the change" jar, thank you for the video!
Love the finish products. I have a question, is the home decor wax used to prevent the paint from falling?
Chipping, dirt every thing really just seals the paint and gives it a good looking finish the chalk paint drys really flat the wax adds a little shine
very nice
very nice.
amazing
Luv it !!!!!
Awesome video! Great instruction! Are jars dishwasher safe after applying chalk paint/wax?
windy .. you are simply awesome... .is it possible to buy this .. do you sell them too.
Is it necessary to wax the jars of can you just leave them unwaxed. Using for fresh flower .
No it is not necessary. It does help protect the paint and gives a nice smooth finish though
Does the paint chip off if you don't seal it
Very pretty !!!!! How much you spend for the whole project.
thank you! Total project cost = $25 including paints :)
yayyyy i love when you do DIY's and these are just too cute!! xo from my beauty channel to your's
cute
Hi other than wax what else can i use to water proof the paint
Can the chalk paints be swapped for acrylic?
Beautiful!! Good tutorial. Thank you. New subbie.
OMG I love this!!!!!!!!! your so creative!!!!
These are so chic and cute, especially for Spring! Also love hydrangeas and those look fab in these jars. Thanks for this tutorial, definitely makes me want to go down to Michaels asap! Future crafting trip together? :)
thank you love! Cass1222 anytime! :)
Hello, I have a question. No primer needed before painting?
Thank you.
Arte e Projeto nope no primer needed :) that's the beauty of chalk paint!
Cute!!!!!!🌼❤️🌸🌷❤️❤️🌸❤️😀❤️🌷🌸❤️
just wondering, what does the wax do
How do you avoid brush strokes on glass ?
