- This breakfast burger on the griddle is an easy flat top grill burger to make any time of day. Sometimes called a hangover burger, the awesome griddle burger recipe has everything you want in a big breakfast piled high on a hamburger bun! For breakfast or dinner, this breakfast burger won’t disappoint!

Start by mixing your ground beef with ground hot breakfast sausage and forming the mixture into balls like you would for smash burgers. Cook some bacon on the griddle, and then make some crispy hash browns. Smash your sausage beef burgers down on the flat top grill, but not too thin… For this burger, I didn’t want paper thin and lacy meat like a normal smash burger. Toast some buns in the leftover bacon grease, and finish up by cooking an over easy egg.

I first had one of these, minus the hashbrowns, in Dec 2022 while in Vegas!! It's about the only way I eat a burger now!! Made it for my hubs and grandkids and they love it as well!! So easy and so delicious!!

I made this a few weeks ago. I tweaked it a bit by putting the bacon between the burger patties and the hashbrowns, and I cooked the egg to over medium so that I could keep more of that yummy, runny yoke on the hash browns, rather than watching it all run down the side of the burger. This was an awesome treat that I made for my Mrs and myself at brunch time. We skipped lunch and we didn't eat dinner until after 8pm that day because this burger was so filling and it was just outstanding! Thanks for sharing your expertise, Neil!
WOW...yeah sounds good to me...I know the feeling about the eating...I never thought that I could not eat 3 times a day and now when filming so much it very common...depending on what I cook I will only eat 1 time then just a fruit snack for dinner or a few cups of popcorn while winding down. Then the next day I wont eat till early lunch

I do this but I use an everything bagel, or I use an English muffin and a half. Set up like a bigmac, turns out really good.

Wow looks great! Just like all your videos. You even got me to pick up a Pit Boss Sierra. Easy clean up was a key factor. I noticed you’re using your metal spatula on the ceramic top. I’ve been skeptical. How do you like it on that griddle? Any foreseeable issues?
This is definitely a hot button topic... And my answer would be that you have to use metal utensils AT YOUR OWN RISK. The actual Pit Boss Ultimate griddle manual says "non-metallic utensils". I know of a handful of Ultimate griddle owners that have been using metal utensils on their griddles for a while and they've said that there hasn't been any damage... but like I said, you have to use at your own risk - I'm sure that Pit Boss probably won't replace your griddle top for you if you damage it with metal utensils. Also, there's a difference in the types of metal spatulas... my preferred spatula has rounded ends and does NOT have the sharp beveled edges all around. That's the spatula that I like for my other griddles as well. I would never use a square ended, beveled edge spatula on mine. Also, you'll notice that I still use a wooden scraper/spatula to actually scrape down the griddle surface (NOT a metal bench scraper like I use on my other griddles). There’s also the difference in being a more seasoned/experienced griddle user… I feel confident using metal on mine because I’ve been using griddles for over a decade (both commercial and residential flat tops) - so I know not to dig into the surface, how to use the utensils to not cause damage, etc… Hope that helps!

NO not better flavor just takes the heat well and olive oil does not..plus its a great oil to season with...and it's healthier than most

I do something similar. I use the hash browns as a "club bun" between the patties. Stole the idea from a local place that used a pancake.

@@TheFlatTopKing It was carls jr/Hardys, a normal beef patty, bacon, scrambled egg, Cheese, Hash brown coins, and Ketchup on a hamburger bun. Its decent but they clearly use really low grade beef.

Next time, you need to try a glazed donut for your bun. You got Krispy Kremes down your way, right? Split it in half. I've not tried it yet, but maybe a split cinnamon roll, pancakes. I saw your discussion using waffles. Ya ever heard of chaffles? It's a keto thing. Cheese and egg mixed and made in a waffle maker. You could also add your hashbrowns into the mix.😉👍😎

I learned a trick when I was working down in New Iberia, LA. from a friend. She cooked on a gridle and had a 1/2" thick black iron grill press her father made for her. The trick was, keep the press on the hottest spot on the gridle. OR, on a separate gas stove eye. Point being, sear from BOTH sides at the same time when doing smash burgers, etc. She could feed the whole crew in minutes. And it was fantastic! Thin, JUCIE, umamishly Maillardy. I think it was because the meat was seared on both sides at once and didn't allow as much moisture to escape as conventionally.
interesting for sure...definitely understand the idea...I would think it would be hard to replicate because of the lack of heat transfer from a griddle...but would love to taste it..
@@TheFlatTopKing If the press sat on the griddle's hot spot from start up , wouldn't it reach the same temp as the deck? 0r, just keep it on a hot-plate till used and return it. ??? Just a thought.
@@inmyopinion6836 I would think the transfer of heat would dissipate extremely quick. It would be hard to get the heat back with out taking forever. You may get away with doing one patty at a time. But I think it would a time nightmare.
@@TheFlatTopKing I watched her and it only took a couple of seconds per patty then it went back on the heat. It WAS a fat 1/2" thick That held a lot of punch. A quick sear seamed to seal a lot of the surface. It did seem to make a difference

I was drooling over every aspect of this burger. I really wish we could get the bright orange American cheese here in Australia. I LOVE it! Then, you added that bacon. What is it with you US folk that you insist on cremating bacon? It's meant to be cooked, but soft, not like a slab of cardboard. When it's like that, the burnt taste takes over everything.
I am certainly going to try this burger (probably without the sausage as we don't have that here), but with soft bacon, not cremated.
Well like everything Jane its about personal preference...I dont like soft bacon and my wife actually prefers it like bacon dust...way past what I like...just make it the way you like it...

Very few times....not a huge fan...i actually use them more for things other than eggs than i do eggs

@@brandoncole6021 i think they cook fast underneath because of the bulk. Then when u take the ring off the uncooked eggs flow down. Now you dont have round eggs with out over cooking the bottom
