    “Hired help” is kinda disrespectful though. It’s giving Lauren Hill and Robert Glasper 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @Polostar79
      @Polostar79 7 месяцев назад +1

      That’s essentially what they are though. Guys like Marcus Miller, The Brothers Johnson, and Greg Phillinganes were hired help.

      If the producer tells you exactly what to play and you don't write what you're playing, you are exactly that. Hired help. I've done that several times on very big records

    If quincy is so great, how come he never came up with anything significant after working with Michael on Bad?
    Michael went on to release Dangerous and HIStory, while quincy got squat.
    It's just that people keep on praising quincy, when he's overrated in the context of Michael's work. They're making it as if Michael isn't great without quincy.
    News flash: quincy is just good. Michael was great.
    The boi named quincy was just lucky he got to produce Michael's Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad.

      Quincy was great before and after Michael. Don't do that

      MJ was great but in music that does not mean you always get great results on pure talent alone. Prior to working with Q, MJ and the Jackson’s worked with Gamble and Huff, who dominated the ‘70s as producers, basically creating the framework for the sound of disco. They didn’t get too many huge hits, tho the music was good.
      Even without MJs career, Quincy would still be the man who produced Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Leslie Gore, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and many others. He’d still be one of the first Black composers to score multiple films. He’d still be the man who wrote the theme for “Sanford and Son”. He’d still be the man who sent jazz albums gold and platinum and introduced the world to The Brothers Johnson.
      We gotta come up off this great man hero worship with Mj. MJ was a phenomenon, but if you’re on the musician/producer side you’re more interested in Q cause that’s what you do.
