This was the first engine I ever had. My gramp gave it to me after he passed away. I used to show it on the Rally field. Then I brought myself an Wolseley WD2 a few years later.
Keep all the bits bloc is probably ok , look out for another if poss swop crank , valves , that's what I would do, we had a cement mixer engine looked like this one , must be around , thanks for sharing interesting ,
That engine is seriously caput, like you said its still savable but for how much a mk12 cost you might aswell get a good condition one, plus you get some good spare parts like the flywheel, pully, cam ect. Great vid as always 👍
Sad part is, I can remember when you could go to the sales, and nobody wanted these things - Couple of quid apiece, if you were lucky. I bet you can't even find one now? I know what! Stick a JAP 55 in there!!
I reckon it's toast boy! might be worth hanging on to a few bits though, although it might make a base for one of those "upcycled" table-lamps you see at tat-fairs now.

yeah I think many engine keepers had one in the early days. 🤔
@@NorfolkMancave Yes. I also had a 2stroke one. Different model.
Credit to your patience Adam.
You have far more than us.
Great watch again.
Thanks for sharing the post mortem with us. Lol
You win some, you lose some. Good stuff. 👍
You can’t beat having the right tool for the job at hand lol, that spark plug was in there tighter than a 5 pence piece in my wife’s purse
I give you a lot of credit for sticking with this one! Loved watching it!

Yes its a sad reality but you cant win them all , as was said salvage what you can for a rainy day project .

yeah I will take a few bit off it mate. but honestly it's totally screwed. poor old thing. 😢
Otherwise known as the proverbial boat anker 🤣

Great video 🤠

lol.. a JAP 55. sound perfect but a tad to big me thinks.. gone are the days you can pick any engine up for a couple of quid. sad times. 😆 🤣

ow yeah. make a lamp from it 🤣🤣🤣🤣... umm that's got me thinking 😆 🤣
@@NorfolkMancave Or just dunk it in a big tub of evapo-rust and pray
As Chris from salvage rebuilds would say , thats been an engine too long !
lol 🤣🤣🤣. it sure has..
Still, to be applauded as an education in itself. Do you find WD40 as good as some of the vintage penetrating oils, PlusGas etc?
I really don't know to be honest. I used to use duck oil. but I ran out of that.
Interesting video.
Shame things are beyond repair but hopefully you can salvage some small spares - or maybe I'm being optimistic lol
ow I'm going to save the engine plates and put then on the replacement engine. but that's about it really.
Maybe a bit of heat?!
I think its past heat Matthew. lol..
@@NorfolkMancave I was thinking more on the smaller bolts, you jumping on that spark plug, I thought this isn't going to end well!!
