    “How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
    Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
    Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
    Welcome to the Young Nails family!

    I sell cuticle oil pens and my clients really like them. I place them right where my client will see them and they’re a nice little add-on that takes minimal effort.

    I think it is necessary to have retail in your salon. I will definitely be offering this once I open my own space. I think cuticle oil, card grabbers and nail brushes to clean under the nails are important.

    Once I obtain a steady clientele, I would probably offer oils and lotions for the hands, a few products for facial care

    This is amazing. I’ve been thinking to bring in skin care products from this company that I love and it’s really good to hear some advice on the topic before going forward. Also, Tracy, amazing idea of creating little baskets for clients to purchase. I love this idea. Xx 💋

    I would like to offer cuticle oil as retail. Especially since clients should be using it anyways. 😉

    Retail = INCOME! You should always retail products and use them in your salon be it a hair or nail establishment. It is extra income and you can do it in a way that isnt PUSHY! Pushy sales do not sell but when a product "should be required for home maintenance" like cuticle oil -- it is a WIN for both! Teach the client: why you should use it, How you should use it and how often. Lets just say that your cuticle oil is bought by you for $5.00.... you sell it for $10.... you made a $5.00 profit. I worked in a salon and then in my own and I retailed. I offered my stylists a 10% commision on every sale. Take the cuticle oil for instance: Your still getting it for $5. Selling for $10.... Stylist Comm is a $1..... You still made $4. Profit. Now $1.00 doesnt sound that appealing for some but sell 30 oils in a month, plus any other retail as we sold hair products and those stylists were making $135. to $275. extra per month.

    There was a salon I used to go to that had the best smelling lotion but they didn’t sell it. I was always bummed but my tech would give me some in a little dish to take home sometimes.

    I sell cuticle oil, scrub (clients also use these after a service) and I sell lotion and lipbalm.

    So I work at a salon and spa and we do sell nail products like polishes, oils, lotions, etc. I love that we offer it and want to sell it but I never have any encouragement to sell them because of how our commission works.. any advice on how to get more people to buy products? I loved the idea of free samples of the oil but anything else?

      So there’s no incentive at all for techs to retail? Is that what’s happening?

    • @charitydurie-gordon7021
      @charitydurie-gordon7021 4 года назад

      Well right now it’s just me there, it’s a hair salon and spa so there used to be two of us but now it’s just me. Pretty much the owner mostly focuses on the hair stylists than us

      @@charitydurie-gordon7021 when I worked in a salon that offered commission on selling retail. It didn't matter what products my clients bought, I received the commission.
