Blackwells (in the UK) and Kennys Bookshop (in Ireland) are super good alternatives for Book Depository since they ship internationally! I've been using them for years (especially Blackwells) and they're great ❤ I think the prices might be a bit higher since the shipping is sometimes included in the price of the book, but it's always something small like 3-4$ more.

Okay a river enchanted duology is PERFECT!! As a Scottish person, it has been the only Scottish-inspired fantasy that I feel actually grasped the more historical culture of Scottish people and didn’t smear any part of the history/culture. It also didn’t oddly sexualise/sensationalise Scotland (and in particular Scottish men) the way that outlander did and thankfully it doesn’t try to be historical fiction at all which is honestly such a breath of fresh air. As a fantasy lover too, it’s definitely the best kind of fantasy in my opinion - focuses on the world and really brilliantly explores themes of belonging, family and community. I genuinely can’t recommend it enough !!

I've been in a very very bad headspace lately that I find it so hard to get out of from, resulting in me having panic attack and severe anxiety to the point I can no longer feel any emotion unless it's fear. Seeing that copy of The Song of Achilles makes me feel happy for a moment and somehow all the memories of me reading the book some times ago are coming back. Good memories.
I am also “reading” The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, I’m on chapter 14 and loving it so far. Actually I am listening to the audiobook… but I just need to say WOW! I want the edition you have so badly! It is Gorgeous! 😍

My first order from Blackwells was dispatched 2 days ago. I've got the tracking number and they use the same Argentine national mail that Bookdepository used. So, at least I know I won't have to pay extra for shipping and the post takes about 3 weeks to deliver since departure. Only problem Blackwells's got great price for pre-orders but books already released, it's almost double expensive than Bookdepository. So, I'll be using it for pre-orders or a book that I really really really want

The bear and the nightingale is one of my favorite book ever, you're gonna love it! I also have the whole serie but I'm anxiously waiting for winter to read the remaining 2 volumes!
I LOVED Emily Wilde; so much so I went out and bought one of the author's middle-grade novels. Wendell does remind me a lot of Howl, so I think you'll definitely like the dynamic between the characters

Speaking as a designer who has made fake sticker book cover designs before, I hate them too. They’re usually done because the author/publisher wants the sticker effect without paying more to separately print the cover and the stickers and then have someone put the stickers on the books. I will always offer alternatives but usually they’re set on the idea.
In regards to book depository closing: I recently found out that Waterstones (the biggest bookstore chain in the UK) ships to Switzerland, where I live! And since international websites often don’t ship here, it might work for others as well. Granted, the shipping isn’t free and might even be regarded as a bit pricy, but it’s better than nothing. 🙃

I have a rule. No books live on my bookshelf unless I have read them, live them, want to reread them and will lend them to people to make them read them.
I pretty much exclusively read through the library now and have less unread books on my shelf. It feels more intentional and it is way more environmental and cost effective.
No judgement or shade on other people book buying habits but this way has made me very happy.

my exact thoughts on Heart of the Sun Warrior!! I don't think I was ever more triggered by a main character's indecisiveness. Reading the last 100 pages of that book was PAINFUL ... still upset by how it ends and its 6 months after I read it.

Like a Love Story is one of my favorite books, I'm constantly recommending it to people. I highly recommend the audiobook for it as well!! Prepare to cry your eyes out though

So, I’m going to have to figure out how to send them gifts for their birthday and Christmas. Really annoying! But oh well, I’ll figure it out. The Bear and The Nightingale (the whole trilogy) is really beautiful! The first book was a solid 3.5★ but the writing kept me going and omg, I can never stop recommending it 😩💗

Stickers that can't be removed are evil. The ones I hate the most are the ones that say something along the line. Now a tv series or motion picture on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. I hate it more than movie covers of books. At least those you can avoid, but now apparently all covers that have a movie series or movie attached how those horrible unremovable stickers.
There is a special edition of the bear and the nightingale with Illumicrate still available in their shop! the book is absolutely gorgeous and they are doing the next two books at the end of the year/early next year (also i read the first book earlier this year and it was one of the best book i ever read, i highly recommend)

Woaa totally agree!! I like the first book in celestial kingdom duology but the second book really made me tired 😂 I love Graceling UK edition too and going to collect all the books in this edition. Emily Wilde was a little bit slower read for me since it's set in 1800(?). Half A Soul, Belladona and Very Irregular Society of Witches are still in my wishlist 😁
Im about 3/4 way through Half a Soul, and its going really well and has all the cozy vibes you could ask for. As for it being Fae and you not liking fae stories, its honesty not that strong in the plot thus far.... its definitely present but its not fae in the ACOTAR way ( like at all ), or neither in the cruel prince way, its more sprinkled in as subtle magic that has an impact on our main character and we dont know much about it yet..... i suspect thatll change in the last quarter of the book, but its going really well!
i loved belladonna! also the audiobook is really good. its all one narrator but idk the voice she does for Death (grim reaper) is just sooooo good.
