Rick asked what gunpowder is in the beginning, and when the video explained, he just talked over it at that point. Classic RICK! Good Job!
Yea.... they are entertaining but can also be entitled annoying know it all pricks. Just because they visited India few times and rick married a Bengali. They think they are experts.
I have been to the US too multiple times and half my family is living there. But can't imagine being as arrogant as them when I am reviewing something of theirs.
typical butthurt Indian
@@priyamvadaraman I don't know, I've been following them since the beginning and rick was not like this. Now Korbin has come a long way but I feel rick has become way more arrogant than before. However, I don't wanna be rude or anything, You never know what's going on in their personal lives. But I found that really frustrating from rick. That's about it.
Rick is truly an idiot
Idiyappam is in the movie JAYA JAYA JAYA JAYA HEY. Thats the one thing the guy always wants to eat.
I was about to comment this 😂
@@PineappleJus cuz they saw that film. Just to remind them
All these foods route course is south India... especially Tamilnadu... idiyappam with non veg combination is mouth watering and no match for that... thanks Rick & Korbin for giving attention on our traditional south Indian breakfast. Please try if you get some good opportunity. Tc
Dosa & Idli was invented in Udupi Karnataka, Right? I've heard somewhere... how it become Tamilnadu specific?
@@thetechreview369origin is frm TN
@@ahxmxdb I just googled it now... its showing Karnataka... It's just like MP, UP and Gujarati People cliams that Pohe/Poha is originated at their State... actually it originated from Maharashtra and went to MP, UP and gujrat during Maratha rule... Same scenario is possible here also... that it's originated in Karnataka and spread towards TN... But, I do like Dosa, Idli sambar, it's one of my fav breadfast all time...
Fun fact dosa idlis are not so a common food back in the day theyde be made only on special occasions like new years pongal etc with the invention of wet stone grinders they became a everyday dish in india. Also there's a whole market for just idlis in tamilnadu... Selling lakhs of idlis per day. There are idli steamers or pots that can make 250 idlis in a single cooking. Check out village cooking channel they have a nice video of idli.
Back in the day as in what time? Didn't your household have manual stone grinders before electric ones? At least I've seen it in my home since childhood..
@@shannum23 yeah we had stone grinders. But it wasn't eaten as frequent as it is roday
@@shannum23Manual stone grinders! Do u have any idea? U should try manual grinding. Woman dont stone grind manually very often in a week. Because they were working too, in farm fields and in factories. I am south indian 45 yrs old. My mom and grand parents said, that it was only millets food most of the year. Rice and rice items like idli/ dosas were made only for festivals. Only after LPG gas cylinders, grinders and blenders came in the market, we started making idlis and dosas. And only after refrigerator became common, we are able to store batter and use it.
@@UserIndia6616 I have used it. Our situation may be different but we used it almost on a daily basis to make curries as well, until electric stone grinder arrived. But again ours was classic joint family so it was easier to divide tasks.
@@UserIndia6616 I might add that we maintained paddy fields as well for rice. It was typical and normal in my village but I agree that after mixer grinders and refrigeration it would make sense that idlis and dosas became more regular.
South Indian dishes are really awesome 👌
15:24 exact reactions of South indians when North Indians create such outrageous dosas😂... South Indian dosas have varieties too not ridiculous as ice cream dosa, pizza dosa, cheese dosa etc
As a North Indian I can tell u that most of us also get outraged and disgusted by all those abominations being sold in name of fusion or experimental food. These dishes are only marketing gimmicks to attract customers to the shops under the disguise of giving them something new.
Nothing beats a fresh & crispy dosa served with sambar & nariyal chutney, & most of us love plain white idlis.
I am not south Indian and idea of chocolate dosa is offensive to me
@@swatisaini6447 chocolate dosa is a crime. I mean we do have sweet dosas where we just use sugar as topping. But chocolate seriously
@@salempasangasp not bigger crime than maggi dosa 🤢
@@swatisaini6447 🤣
He is a Tamil guy...so mostly Tamil dishes
The names may be different in Tamil but the dishes are made in other South Indian states too.
South indian food in delhi is not south indian food!..i did live in delhi for few yrs ...the spice is different from what we have in Andhrapradesh..so i can say that its good adaptation..but having these in south india is completely different experience
I reckon in South India these things are made as a daily consumption item like we have roti & rice in north India, & therefore it is ensured the dishes are made with a more balanced flavor profile & healthier mix of ingredients.
Most outlets in North India (specially in & around Delhi) add extra spices, oil & all that fancy stuff so that the dish has more punchier flavors, as these are perhaps once in a week or once in a month kind of dishes for most people. Also, the ingredients and the making process are probably not as authentic as it needs to be to get that same flavor.
@@anantsharma6365 yeah could be..i agree with you..
@@anantsharma6365 Don't forget the main ingredient - Amul butter!
Except panniyaram, all the dishes are basically breakfast dishes.
You should visit Bangalore or Chennai to get best South Indian breakfast items.
Kerala too. I haven't seen Idiyappam that often in Chennai or Banglore. In fact Uthappam, Idiyappam etc are more common in Kerala than other places.
@@satyachivukul9703am living in hyderabad for past five years. Idli and dosas are made using rava. Why can't you guys make proper idli and dosa with out adding rava.
@@satyachivukul9703 i dont have to go to chennai to eat that. I make very good ones at home in hyderabad. Please recommend hyderabad for biryani and not dosa/idli.
Paniyaaram is very common Morning/ Evening Snacks in Madurai (TamilNadu) even now ….
You’ll find it in every alternative streets 😂
@@kavibharathy5690👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼👍🏼
We use the same batter for everything 😂.. and it still tastes delicious
Generally dosas are prepared in 2 shapes . Circle fold and triangle with stuff in the centre.😍😍😍
Idlis n variety of doses r staple breakfast for our south indians.with 1 batter we can do half a dozen varieties or evn more .its sooo easy for us.every weekend we prepare batter for the whole week🎉
This is like my whole week's menu on the table😂
Please have all these foods in south India... never miss it friends
I saw his video before... and what was missing was sambhar recipe and various chutney that are served with steamed items thats the flavour.....
The channel that made this video is targeting an American audience. Also, the chef now lives in the US. Hence, Cilantro instead of Coriander.
It's sad that we have to specify "south" indian to get enough representation.
But naan, butter chicken and every other north indian dishes are "just indian "
Kerala is the best place for exploring great South Indian flavours......Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.....👍😊
We have three dosa penam (pan) one idli patra, one ponganala(paniyaram) penam in our home
I like Rick's anecdotes 😅
Korbin, If they're making chocolate dosa and pizza dosa, avoid it at all cost 😅
Every Sunday is dosa or idli day in our house with chutney gunpowder and potato palya
Idle dosa special from Tamil Nadu but everyone eats it in India
My favourite paniyaram😋😋
Mostly in Tamil Nadu with sambar and chutney
Fermentation depends upon outside temperature if is let's say summer of outside temp of 36 degree then 6 to seven hours before steaming or cooking is perfect that brand fresh new batter
second time after normal fridge ( not ice box) 4 hours ensure the batter is room temp inside batter normal not being cold is perfect batter.
The same batter is also used for masal dosa just add sakt anf a little sugar half a tea spoon for 6 dosas mmix it well with batter also add little water say quarter to half cup to make it smooth paste not watery just between tomato sause thickness
Sugar gives crispy flavour feel
Important if the batter smells of fermentation make dosa only
I am commenting for the second time. We can learn an information about the price of idli and vada in 60s by reacting to this comedy of Nagesh., tamil legend comedy actor.
Scene: Nagesh (server sundaram) comedy scene.
Wonderful breakfast dishes🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wait Korbin made idli? Where is the video of that 😃
Apart from iddiyappam, everything he mentioned is eaten in North India also
Chole bature is eaten in south India too. What are the odds?
@@user-rg3cc1jm5w true ,actually because of the students and IT sector, now north Indian food is easily available in south
@@PJ-km7xs no way.... i thought North Indians Hated south Indians and are racist towards them?
@@user-rg3cc1jm5w not really, it is just because of some people. It goes both ways actually if you look into the history. Things are changing now.. hope for the best.
@@PJ-km7xs lol Racism is never A two way street, example, the british were racist towards South Asians and oppressed them but can we say the opposite happened as well? The oppressors dont get to play victim card here, its like BBC asking to stop Aid because india has a space mission. Laughable.
Gunpowder chutney is not the appropriate name to it but it's been in a practice for decades now..its made up red chillies, dals, seasom seeds, asefoteda..
Did you know about egg dosas, it is very good food to eat 🤪😛
Moms are great
I am from north of india yet i eat a lot of idli
Bal aapam is missing
All of them are South Indian.
Pizza dosa is nice thou
Give me onion rawa masala dosa & onion uttapam anytime! ❤
All are from south India. But we odiya people do it in another style much before.
2:45 He put salt before fermentation, I dont think its good practice..
Edit : He mentioned it later
Mom jokes does not suit with Indian Sensibilities.
Small suggestion: Why dont you guys try to avoid them in Indian Reaction videos.
😎 cool
Pizza 🍕 dosa is gluten free not heavy
All are south indian dishes
Yes, that is the heading
These are healthy
Only few patients are not allowed.
All of them are south indian...
South Indian has many other breakfast food
If you have to taste the actual south Indian food, u should taste it in South India...not in other parts
