Going to have Cioppino for Christmas Eve dinner, standing rib roast for Christmas Day and this for the day after Christmas. We love Lidia and have several of her cookbooks and made it a point to dine at her restaurants when in New York. Just missed meeting her at Felidia as her son’s 50th birthday celebration was the day before.

LIDIA Hello, gee I had eaten barley , from a child, my MATERNAL GRAND MOTHER had a VERY large canister set, about 16 or more prices & one of them was BARLEY, RYE, WHEAT, AS GRAINS the last time I saw that set was when I came to USA IN 1959, still looking for one like it, never found one like it , ILL try your meal, CIAO, 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇺🇸🇺🇸

Barley risotto?! I think she means orzotto.
I think you're right. Can't understand how a great chef like her would make a mistake like that.
Keeping it simple for her American audience. Most know what a risotto is, but probably not a orzotto. I’m assuming it’s just like a risotto but made with an orzo pasta? I like to cook and am familiar with orzo pasta, but I’m not sure the majority of Americans are. I guess she could have educated us about it, but sometimes RUclips videos are more profitable when concise.

Barley is a grain, orzo is pasta. Not orzotto for sure.
Have you ever watched the series Two Greedy Italians, in one of the episodes Gennaro Contaldo prepares orzotto: pearl barley with spinach & minced pork. You can watch it right here on RUclips.
Her aggressive voice is extremely unpleasant. Also, I don’t know how many Italians would make these kinds of recipes at home. I, for one, Would never eat this. Too old fashioned!
