" Come on Ring Those Bells " sung by Evie Tornquist. This song came out on her Christmas album in 1977. I purchased that album and listen to it repeatedly. This Christmas, after decades of having not heard this beautiful song, I played it while my daughter and I were preparing Christmas dinner. It was very evocative and reminiscent of many past Christmases in Christ for both of us, since I used to play this album for her at Christmas during her childhood years. In fact, we loved her album so much that we played it at other times of the year too. Thank you for the memory.

Thanks for your comment! I (James) grew up with that same album playing every Christmas, so it’s very nostalgic and meaningful to me too. Merry Christmas!😊

To the children...Our home church stopped singing many years ago, as the singing just continued to cover the talking time. Laodicea is the age we're in now and we're all rich and in need of nothing, being a young person myself my family is what has to constantly be checked in the church. My dad was a preacher and missonary for years but missed being real with his own family, missed talking about his actual issues at the dinner table. The next ministry covered it. Now my brothers children and wives are in disarray and there's is no talking and repenting. It is an apostate church, and the singing is suffocating the youth from talking. We must stop, Jesus is coming soon, there is no testimony without dealing with sin. What food and value is running through our hands? Learn to grow, raise and subdue the earth, music will come after, but to put it first, is only us kids wasting away on board battles, causing shame instead of strength to handle reality, to love oneanother and use our homes for service. I can't handle the smiles, that kills me as a child. I know what breakdown behind them, the veil has been rent.

Hmm. I'm sorry to hear that the group that you were a part of began to fall out of balance. I would just like to say that singing is a healthy activity in the church and is recommended in scripture. And since it is taught in the word of God it must therefore not be wrong in and of itself.
The early church sang songs and singing has continued throughout the history of the church.
I agree that the type of music and the meaning of the words can become distorted and can bring an unwanted spirit into a church. So I would agree that churches have to be careful about song selection and about the reason for the songs that are being sung.
Singing is supposed to be about praising God and about worshiping Him and about causing our spirits to rise up to Him in gratitude.
That much is true but t's also true that singing can become more important than Christ. But that applies to every part of a church. I have seen churches in which the preaching is more important than Christ. I have seen churches where the pastor is more important than Christ. I have seen churches where the fellowship is more important than Christ.
Having a balance in our churches is not about singing activities or any other particular activity. Balance comes by remaining in the Word and making certain that all sin is repented of.
Some churches believe that once you're saved you're always saved. There is much offense that goes on in a church by some people who have never truly been born again but think they were because they prayed a prayer -- or who began to adopt worldly activities and felt no need to repent of them, or turn away from them. There's plenty of scripture that tells us that it is necessary to repent of sin throughout our lives as we walk with Christ.
Repentance means to turn away from. Therefore we are always having to turn away from the way our flesh leads us away from Christ. Scripture tells us that the flesh within us is always at war with the Spirit, that means that our flesh is always an enemy of the Spirit.
Having a good balance is important then, to understand that we cannot place confidence in our flesh and that we must throw ourselves into and to have confidence only in the Spirit, in order to remain balanced.
But fyi .... throughout the history of the church, there have been individual church groups that have fallen out of balance because of a lack of true salvation, true repentance, or true seeking after God above all else and seeking out a good and faithful understanding of the Word of God. The reason for this is because of the fallibility of humans not the fallibility of God or of His Word.
I pray that you will find peace and that you will discover a church, if you have not already, that is well balanced in the Word, and where a good understanding of worship and singing and studying the Word, and following after Christ are all encouraged.
One last thing that I would like to say. The primary reason that various denominations were formed throughout history is so that there could be uniformity and assistance in helping correct where misunderstanding occurs. That does not mean that all denominations are perfect but it does explain why people found it necessary to form denominations around agreed upon doctrines and theology.
