He's said it on more than one interview. He wanted people to understand where he WAS and WHY in comparison to where he is NOW. When he made the change. He talks all about in articles and interviews so we don't have to speculate and give misinformation.

LC is PERFECT exactly the way it is! Adding rap and slowing the beat down is a completely different song - not the sound he wanted. SMFP2 is an absolute banger! His FACE EP is a masterpiece! So proud of our boy!!!! Jimin drank during the pandemic, sure…most (or many) of us drank more; but he was going through a plethora of emotions from depression because they couldn’t perform, being deep in negativity about himself as an artist - and who he is to dealing with the hatred he’s dealt with for years from haters! He wanted to be set free from all of that! But no, he’s not an alcoholic.
