I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting and strange foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly MY point of view, but is not meant to offend any person or culture.
People in america may think these foods are weird or nasty but remember, yall eat processed foods fill with chemicals and additives with names you can't even pronounce
well, even to the koreans its a bit weird. its just weirder for westerners.

I always imagine that back in the day, one hungry Korean old folk accidentally caught an octopus in his net, didn't know how to cook an octopus...so he just chopped it and stuffed the tentacles into his mouth. Then, it went viral on the next day.
I imagine it as some emperor wanting to punish his enemies by trying to choke them to death by feeding them live octopuses. Some enemy survive and become heros.

Helen Short LOL. You do know most animals were cut up while still alive too, right? You act like animals were born dead. The only difference is when they were cut up. Fresh versus old. Basically, you don't want to know where your food came from and you just want to be sheltered as fuck.

Honestly the Korean pig foot isn’t much different than Mexican’s version of pig Pata which is either slow cooked/braised with spices & season or my favorite pickled which goes perfectly with beer. Both versions are super tender & since I was a child & always copying my father I grew up eating Pickled pig pata. Never had this Korean version but I’m sure I’ll love it just the same with some beer or wine of course

Im curious how the octopus tastes raw. If it's cooked it can be a rubber band. Wonder if it's tender when it's raw.

It doesn't taste like anything. You mostly rely on the sesame oil that the chef dumps on there for flavor.
It's actually not very rubbery raw. Has a slight taste, nothing weird, just fresh and it goes well with the sesame oil seasoning.

I really admire you. My sheltered life has rendered me virtually incapable of eating food that I have seen while it was alive. Oddly enough, I have no problem eating fish that I or someone I was fishing with caught. That is probably because I actually went fishing a few times as a child.
In my opinion, we are seriously messing our children up By sheltering them as much as we do these days.
My philosophy on food, unless it's bugs, cats or dogs, I'll try anything at least once, sometimes twice.
