Interpretations of Music: Lessons for Life
with Benjamin Zander
Dave Jamrog Audio/Video
This was one of the most beautiful pieces of music I ever heard.
This singer made me burst into tears with this Wanderer by Schubert. And what an amazing professor. The pianist follows both of them with great ability. Franz Schubert must have found the land he was looking for so desperately.
Before you might listened to music but after Benjamin Zender’s master classes you will feel the very soul of it. That’s what I think, that’s how I feel. Splendid!
Was für eine berührende Interpretation junger Mann! Ich habe in den Jahrzehnten meines Lebens schon viel Schubert gehört von den großen deutschen Schubert-Interpreten. Ich bin wahnsinnig beeindruckt von ihrer Begabung!
Oh god...I had to sing this in college. I was not a vocal major, and my teacher raked me over the coals: diction, phrasing, color, etc. Then we got to the music!! It was one of the best Master classes I took. It was also in the midst of really discovering Mahler, and why/where his music was coming from.
what a voice and what a sublime beauty he has; what a pleasure hear him working with Mr. Zander, who's always unarrivable
Wonderful pianist
Beautiful, amazing interpretation, voice and diction
The singer does the pianissimo beautifully!
Wauw so good!! All those changes in voices and tempo's. Sure a verry verry Great voice. And then that great piano makes it all perfect for me!
Amazing performance by amazing people
Bravo!beautiful!
Superb once again!😊
1. Your breath should be much deeper and rounder so you can bring timbre of scuro. Try to keep the expanded feel (after inhalation) of below rib cage without any tightening or rigidity. You must have the coordinated openness to the mouth so you will have the sound beam to produce resonance from your mouth and head.
2. You should learn true German diction. Open "i" is different from closed "e". Muted "e" should be much softer. When two words are combined as one word, the accent on second word is unstressed. Of course, closed "o" in "wo" is closed vowel, your "o" is too open. Also please study "umlaut".
can somebody do something about their pronunciation, including BZ's
Madame Dina also subs in for Kate McKinnon on SNL.
Why does he have a Köln accent?
Does he? I didn't notice it and I live near Cologne (in Aachen). At least the "ch" in "ich" was too correct for a true Kölsche Jung.
I am German with German as my mother tongue and speak pure High German. I can't recognize a Cologne dialect. In a few places he makes small mistakes with the "sp" and thus sounds slightly Dutch in these places. But that's all I hear.
He looks like Eddie Redmayne
German seems to be very difficult for the singers. Haven't heard yet anyone pronounce the "s"-lauts correctly ;)
