I think it's the material, for the actor who was annoying. I think she's getting typecast into bratty teenager roles. I thought she was very good in Stranger Things, even if the show was a genre hybrid without a ton of character depth. The character from The Whale was written to be incredibly grating, but I think the point was that her character was responding to intense childhood trauma. I used to be a case manager working with unhoused youth, and they often had difficult/grating personalities that stemmed from a lot of trauma. I think the film industry is terrible at writing adolescent characters who *aren't* typecast as either bratty teenager tropes or "wild child" rebels who do a lot of drugs and have wild sexual encounters. I feel like we almost never see real teenagers, who may resemble these tropes but not to this degree. That's why I avoid movies with teenager protagonists. The last great film I saw with teenage protagonists was Stand By Me, the Stephen King adaptation. That was made decades ago.
I’m so happy for this review because I was disappointed and I wanted to know if anyone else had the same reaction. Glad it wasn’t as series, this movie took enough of my time 😂
Thank you gents for another fun review, U2 make my day! I haven't heard the expression "turned it and burned it" since my college days as a server at many a restaurant... turnin' and burnin' those tables to make them tips!! 🏃🏻🎉 Chi-Chi's Mexican Restaurant and Casa Lupita were my faves! 🪇🌯Ole'🌮🍹
This reminds me of a book I read years ago about a father who was trying to get his teenaged daughter out of a cult that practiced self-cannibalism. The father had to prove himself by chopping off one of his fingers, frying it a pan, and eating it. I can't remember the name of the book, but that scene has never left me.
Sadie Sink seems like a great girl and she's beautiful. But her character in The Whale was pretty much a version of her character in Stranger Things, which was a version of her character in Netflix's horror trilogy Fear Street. She needs range.
She has only been in one series and three movies so far, but she will have plenty of time to show her range. This year, a musical called Odessa is going to be released, and she acts in it. The plot looks interesting.
Been following you for a while, but always intrigued by the Latinisation of Eric Bana’s Slavic derived surname. Is there a joke I missed out on a previous review? 😂
I’m kind of surprised y’all haven’t seen Stranger Things. I think you said you haven’t seen Game of Thrones, either.. GoT may not be for you but if you ever have time to watch it, I think you would like ST. Hopefully they don’t f*ck up the final season of the show.
I read the book , didn't see the movie, but I don't see anything about joining a cult and helping his daughter. This is about a father who is obsessed a hostess and keeps looking for her. Maybe I read the wrong book, but this what I got out of it.
Nicks sparkly Batman shirt is the camiseta that I nessecita. 🦇✨✨✨
It’s giving me nerd-Selena-with-a-bedazzler vibes in all the best ways!
Wonder where he got it
I need that shirt 😅
Nick’s spontaneous vocal inflections juxtaposed next to Joseph’s comparatively dulcet tone is my favorite thing about this duo.
I’m in awe of Nick’s brain. He never forgets a damn thing. How does he retain so much film information?
Im sorry but your unimpressed expressions right next to the guy burning alive in the background for the thumbnail😂😂😂
Not the Banya 🫣😃
The unfunny comic!

Last watched Eric Bana in Dirty John, can't recall the last movie I watched him in. Looked it up -- The Time Travellers Wife 2009.
Yes he was so good in that. Perfect mix of cringe and creepy😎

Eric Bana is a good actor…why is he always in garbage movies…? Also… is Nick wearing a child’s pajama top..?
The last great movie he was in was Munich and that was 19 years ago.

I used to call him Eric Banaña, so I guess I'm just shortening it.

Ok. Gonna need a review of Three and the Golden Glove. Both films sound way more interesting
WTF. They just kill themselves 🤯
The movie was crazy. It’s scary because It shows how many people can be easily manipulated
Please please do a video review of Longlegs!!
We need to talk about that...
😮🎉

CrissCross Applesauce! 🔀🍎
Dark high priestess stuff
The ending the worst thing I've ever seen

Where was y’all able to see it ? there’s no showtimes available in my area
It’s available for rental now
Dang
So it's not a Tarkovsky remake?
I really loved this film. Cults are fascinating, and this one was beautifully shot. I get easily bored, but I didn't check my phone once ❤

Eric Banya 👨🏻
Where did Nick get that shirt, please? 🤗
Random fact: he bought it at Norwood Young’s estate sale. www.estatesales.net/CA/Los-Angeles/90020/227094
@@fishjellyfilmreviews Awesome! Thanks.
Mazzy dies? Or shes like a final girl?
