After the Yankees beat the Red Sox on June 14 they were in 1st place and comfortably ahead of the Red Sox by 14 games. The Red Sox won the last 2 games of that series and it proved to be a turning point for both teams. Now just 3 weeks later the Yankees find themselves 3 games outta 1st place only 4.5 games ahead of the Red Sox. That's a 9.5 game swing in only 21 days, that just isn't supposed to happen lol.
The Yankees have fallen off of a proverbial cliff since June 15th with a 4-12 record. The worst in MLB.
Is Aaron Boone ignorant? I stopped watching when he brought Clay "blew it again" Holmes in. I knew it was a done deal. A Boston comeback. The Yankees need to fire Boone and Cashman. Then bring up their young talent, and either win with them or call it a season.
I mean there's 162 games a year. All of this has happened with 80 more games to go. Yes it's not surprising but you might be a Genzer

I can’t believe this was my first game ever at Yankee Stadium. Watching a game slip away like that was heartbreaking but the atmosphere was like no other. Hopefully we get healthy and get the right additions before the deadline to make a push after all star break. LFG Yanks

You have to wait for the official MLB video that comes out 3-4 hours after the game, or the official Red Sox video. The recaps that come out right after the game are always chopped up.

Most worrisome part for Yankees, no light at the end of the tunnel. Soto probably walks in the winter, still will have DJ/Rodon/Stanton on horrible contracts for more years, and the farm has 2 players including one who is 23 in AA striking out 40% of the time lol they’re gonna have to blow it up soon
Tbh this team failing miserably is objectively good the game is baseball. Can’t buy a World Series and can’t buy your way out of a terrible farm system
They’ll just steal the Sox up and coming players like they always do and overpay for aging power hitters in free agency. Frustratingly this will still keep them relevant as it always does.

Yankees are playing like a losing team. Poor base running, poor hustle, terrible pitch selection and poor body language
Valdez is so shaky on defense but his bat is solid when he's going good. I can see them moving him to a corner outfield spot but there's no room for that in Boston right now. I see them sticking with the platoon route for now, but it's not a comfortable feeling when he's in the field.
Holmes never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

I don't know what happened to the Yankees. Since June, the Yankees' performance has plummeted. The pitchers have become pitching machines, and the batters can't score effectively. The evil empire can only become a legend and can never be reproduced.
