- It’s time to go shopping for Brendon’s 22nd birthday.
It has been quite the weekend for my son Brendon every memorial day weekend we go canoeing and usually his birthday lands on memorial day or it’s either before or after. So this year he planned on asking his girlfriend Madisyn to marry him him. And of course, she said yes, and then two days later, we celebrated his 22nd birthday.
They are super excited about their engagement and have already started making plans. I feel like this is how my next couple years are going to be weddings and grandbabies.
We normally decorate at night when the birthday boy or girl goes to bed, but life has been so busy with engagements, graduation, and traveling that we did not get it done, and this is the first time ever that I have not decorated at night. So me and Izzy got up got the house cleaned up because we had family coming in that afternoon and then decorated so when Brendon got off of work, the house would be ready to go to celebrate his birthday.
He is so funny. I love being around Brendon and watching him open presents because he loves everything he gets and he just cracks me up.

--I remember, on my 22nd birthday, I had been married for only two weeks, and my husband adopted me a puppy, took me to dinner, and we went to the mall to shop for my gift. I was so, so shocked. Growing up, my parents and brothers sometimes forgot my birthday and never took me out or anything. I was so touched and overwhelmed. Twenty years later, birthdays still feel like something to look forward to celebrating! Turning 22 is still extra special in my mind. 🙏💙
