Just a heads up: You can actually display DSR-50 without her base just fine! I just keep a microfiber cloth underneath her to avoid potential damage but yeah the base isn't 100% necessary.

I think that if the figure is beautiful and makes you happy when you look at it then it doesn't matter if you "know" the character well or not. They are a form of art, after all.

I actually like watching "unhaul" videos. I mean yeah, it's not fun regretting the figures you picked up, but it's just part of the collecting experience. And idk, I like hearing other collector's thoughts/experiences on that. I'm probably in the minority here though because there are a LOT of figures I have regretted buying. 😂 Too much of an impulse buyer. As for which one I regret the most... I can't say for sure, but the Plentiful Apple Harvest Holo figure comes to mind. Just because I knew I wasn't keen on it from the promo pics but convinced myself that maybe I would like it better in person (spoiler alert: I did not). And it was not fun trying to sell it, lol.

A new video from daijoububu? Yes! 🎉
I also have the same issue with being a completionist. I lost count the number of times I picked up something just to complete a set. It really is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, I rarely have trouble finding something to buy. On the other, I tend to end up purchasing figures of characters I strongly dislike. xD

Myethos is pronounced My Eethos (long E, o is pronounced like the o in sock). Ethos means "The disposition, character, or fundamental values peculiar to a specific person, people, culture, or movement." So, I think they were trying to give their brand name a deeper meaning or something.

I also do not like wedding dresses figures, but I have to say that if Azur Lane's New Jersey turns out well I will try to hunt for her in the aftermarket, she's genuinely the first wedding dress figure I found appealing and very much desirable.
I also have the Lilly Relium you showed in the video and I love her 😆 And I did not like Laura so I'm okay with not having a complete set 😄

Some figures I have slight regrets only because they dropped in price significantly after release, so I felt I could’ve saved a good chunk of money on them. That said, they are from my favorite series (Fire Emblem & Final Fantasy), so me loving the characters and source material does help ease the pain haha 😆

On a side note...I noticed this happening more now? Maybe it's because I got into figures around a bad time (2019) but before I would be worried about never being able to buy a figure because of it being impossible to find a few months after release.
But it feels like currently it's easier and the price may even go down? So now you have at least a year window to pick up a figure.

VTubers are streamers that use an animated avatar, and VSingers are a subset of that who focus on, well, singing. Arguably the most famous group of VTubers are Hololive; I understand their first concert in the United States sold out within minutes. The dedicated VSingers of Hololive are IRys and AzKi, though this distinction isn't immediately apparent.
Luo TianYi is apparently a Vocoloid that's popular in China. Unlike Hatsune Miku who arguably has some international fame, Luo TianYi is really only popular in China. In fact, this is the first time I've heard of her.
As far as figures that I've regretted buying, I think that goes to some gachapon Samurai Shodown/Samurai Spirits figures that I went out of my way to buy. For figures that cost less than $5 USD each, they're surprisingly good; that said, they're still $5 figures. Among other problems, they don't stand up correctly and are otherwise prone to leaning over time, assuming that they stood upright in the first place!

I have to say my orders/preorders of all 4 girls from Rent-a GF prolly regrettable purchases - I still haven't unboxed Chizuru and Sumi, while Ruka had been downgraded to surface mail (Mami's not out yet). I also think that with the current trend where 1. figures are pricier than usual 2. there is now a surge of preowned figures which up to now were then "rare"/brail (you have a better chance to buy the OG Ryuko Matoi bunny on AmiAmi preowned these days, for example) 3. figures can be bought on release without preordering - we can reduce the risk of blindly preordering just because.

I'm a sort of meditative buyer, it started out with being frugal / unable to afford it, to now just being second nature. I'll add something to cart, look at reviews, videos, and let it sit in the cart... I'll spent a substantial amount of time thinking if I'll still love it in 5 years. I'll also only buy figures from shows / series I've loved for a long time (NieR, Made in Abyss, FMA), rather than what I'm currently hyped about. For example I own 0 attack on titan figures, even though I enjoy it now, I don't know if I'll love the rest of the anime or how it ends... I mostly collect nendoroids too, because they're cute and work well on the same shelf. So it's not as difficult planning themes or buying something that looks out of place on a shelf. The only figure I regret, is I got a miku noodle stopper, thinking it'll look good in my PC, sitting on my GPU... but it looked kinda lame and didn't match the RGB or internals. It was mad kawaii for a black PC. Facebook marketplace is pretty great to sell figures though. I'm doing my best to be minimalist and only hold onto things I really love, and declutter / get rid of the rest, with all things - my clothes, my belongings. Like if you wear a tshirt that you only like 5/10, you'll feel like a 5/10... wear something that you think is 10/10, and you'll feel 10/10. I loved the candid video though, and its always nice listening to someone have the same hobby. :))

Figures are a totally different artistic medium than anime, video games, movies, etc. It doesn't matter at all if you know the character or source material. We appreciate figures because of the artistry and beauty that went into the sculpting, color production, etc. I love Cowboy Bebop but I don't have any figures from it because I don't find the characters that visually appealing. On the other hand, I don't play Azur Lane but I have several Azur Lane figures because they're gorgeous. For Cowboy Bebop, I have the complete series on blu-ray and that's good enough for me because I love the story. I don't play mobile games, but I buy their figures because I love the character designs. Simple as that. Don't overthink it! If you find a figure to be beautiful and visually appealing, that's all that matters! Remember, anime is for watching, video games are for playing, and figures are for displaying and admiring. They don't have to overlap.

For figures I regret, I regret literally every Vocaloid Nendoroid I've bought. I like Vocaloid music, but I wouldn't say I'm really in the fandom. I only collect figures from a select few series, and nearly every time I've bought a figure outside of that series other than maybe 6 instances (all of which were figures from series I probably would collect if they had more figures and/or more accessible figures), I've regretted it and sold it. I've had a hell of a time selling the Vocaloid Nendoroids though, and honestly just want them gone and want to get my money back to buy something I actually enjoy...
I do kind of regret buying some prize/lower price figures in my collection (Banpresto Zenitsu, Pop Up Parade Giyuu, Zenitsu, Tanjiro, and one of my Ichiban Kuji Giyuus)- Demon Slayer is the main focus of my collection but the Banpresto figure is just low quality, the Pop Up Parades are mediocre quality with annoying bases, and the Ichibansho Giyuu has the most massive base that's shaped like a triangle, so it's nearly impossible to fit him anywhere despite the fact that I like the figure itself. He can't even be removed from the base either, so it's not like I can make a smaller base for him, which I'd be willing to do because otherwise I genuinely like the figure! The Banpresto Zenitsu I'm casually selling without much urgency, but the others I haven't bothered to because I like them enough and other than their annoying bases, they match with the rest of my collection.

HOWEVER I do have about 40 nendoroids which I regret maybe about half of them lmao. I started collecting alot thinking it would be cool to pose and exchange parts but I enjoy scale figures more now.

I loved part 1 of season 1, but even though part 2 and then season 2 caused SAO to fall off a bit to me; season 3’s part 1 and 2 had so much positive feedback that I gave it another chance. It was really good! I loved all of the Alicization Arc/War Arc. Definitely give it another chance

I regret buying the Felicia Darkstalkers vampire savior figure. 😅 I bought it in the mid 2010s because there were so few Felicia figures on the market and now that Kotobukiya came out with the delightful Felicia figure alongside Morrigan and Lilith, this one is sitting in the back looking even worse. Her pose is awful too with her legs WIDE open to display her...nether area in a very unattractive manner.

I took a long break from watching videos during the endless "EMS not available" period. But I noticed I still did occasional checks on Amiami for whatever cool new stuff appeared. (And were also looking for a figure I really wanted, which I haven't seen yet and worry I'm missing it on some exclusive site). And I can kind of relate to the regrets that comes later in the collecting phase.
Here is a list of regrets:
    1. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun - Shirai Kuroko - B-style - 1/4 - Bunny ver. (FREEing). Reason being her head is huge and looks bad, and recently they have made a better figure. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T - Shirai Kuroko - B-style - 1/4 - Bunny Ver., 2nd (FREEing). Ironically same company, same name, but now much better looking.
    2. Ikki Tousen - Kan'u Unchou, couldn't find specific figure. Bought it because it was a tan-lines figure, but when I got her and opened her I noticed they got the skin colors horribly wrong and she looks like sickly-gray rather than tan.
    3. 2 figures of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san - Cthugha. Not sure what it is, but I love the character design, the poses are not boring, but somehow they aren't quite what I wanted anyway. I'd probably buy a third one if I run into it, despite regretting both the previous ones. It is just hard to explain why I'm not satisfied with them, despite loving the design.
    4. One Piece - Boa Hancock - Glitter & Glamours - Special ver. (Banpresto). Love the thorn clothes concept, but this figure was really bland and boring despite it.
    5. Hololive - Nousagi - Usada Pekora - Figma (#529) (Max Factory). Love Pekora, but I'm not a Figma collector and would rather have a real scale figure.
There is also the general "too much" regrets I feel sometimes. Like when i look at the pile of unopened boxes and see "Skimpy outfit vampire, skimpy outfit vampire, skimpy outfit vampire, skimpy outfit vampire". Tend to start wondering why I need so many. Can't say the same about my tan-lines figures though, which I have like 20 opened and like 10 unopened of and would still buy any figures I find.
There is also a single regret regarding what I didn't buy. Which was the super expensive Azur Lane - New Jersey - B-style - 1/4 - Living Stepping (FREEing, Union Creative International Ltd).
Been planning about selling some unwanted figures sometime, but worry about needing to pack stuff down and all. Just being lazy.

As a collector of various types of figures but being picky about what I get, honestly bases are typically the reason I regret buying a figure. Some figures (especially prize figures) have obnoxiously big bases. Its to the point I may try starting to customize my own bases for prize figures for the sake of them being smaller.
    Only other figure I regret is actually my husband's that has a major leaning issue. ;-;

I've seen some people say she gives raw chicken and I can't unsee it 😭 The paintjob on her hair is super flat on the rerelease too. All around just a disappointing final product. I do that too buy something I thought was pretty and then regret it a year later.
I noticed a trend with the figures your most willing to part with are the ones you got out of wanting to be loyal to a brand
And the ones you kept you have memories associated with and know more about the characters.
Why not just collect from series and games you know of /like?
I didn't think I would ever get anime figures or be able to but ai Somnium files the first game came with a standee
And ai Somnium files nirvanA Initiative came in with a very pretty figure of a character I love and adore (aiba a female lead in the first game )
As well as maybe a bleach figure that was around $15 bucks in a mystery bag at a anime con
And a tiny frieza from dbz because I convinced someone who didn't like dbz to take the pop figure I got given and didn't want (not a fan of them)
Aaaannndd 🤔 I think the only other figure I have is a death note Near one with no box from a con because $15 was the cheapest I saw him go for and for the quality of figure out of box I was okay with that price because I love death note, I tried cosplaying him but no one recognizes him :')
I have a few standees from a kickstarter but after meeting the author and realizing he was a walking red flag I kind of only regret buying stuff from him tbh ....those are the only ones I semi regret
Because I panic buyed two when I only wanted the main character originally ....then added a body pillow to the cart as well......I may look into selling the body pillow in all honesty because that was a big impulse buy and I don't really want it even if it is considered rare I have bad memories of said character now :')

It would depend on what you mean by "regret". Personally, I feel like I should only regret things that I had control over, that is to say making a decision that I shouldn't have made at the time. I do not believe one should "regret" things that changed the optimal decision after the fact.
The difference, for example, would be a better figure coming out for a character for which I had bought a meh figure for due to it being the only one at the time. I do not believe such a thing is a matter of regret as I would not have been able to know and thus have made a different decision.
Similarly, figures not coming out as advertised or pricing fluctuation that could have saved me money after the fact are, IMO, not matters of regret. All three of these have happened to me.
That said, I do not have any figure that I truly regret buying barring the above. That is to say looking back at the figures I buy, I stand with my decision at the time given the information available at the time. The core reason for this is the fact that I mostly buy figures for character I like, rarely buying OC or characters I don't know much about. As such, as long as I stay in love with the character, I stay in love with the figure. For the most part, I would not buy a figure just because it looks nice--there are way too many of those and the feeling tend to be fleeting.
