Nice video. I’ve been a fan of his for a while now. I too have carefully drilled out a molded in door handle on a Sunbeam Tiger.

Great interview. James does some excellent modeling. His builds are always breathtaking. He does an excellent job building what just comes in the box. Thanks for sharing.
I completely get what James Tester is saying. I used to take box-stock kits, open the doors and trunks, make the wheels steer, the suspension work on real springs, and the engines completely wired and plumbed. Now all that seems a burden rather than a pleasure. Now I try to build models that Tell a Story, rather than just be an exercise in hyper-detail and "working features."

Great stuff, I really like the approach James is using to perfect his builds plus he's a super nice guy and I'm glad he's back in Ohio so he's easier to find at shows LOL. I'm sort of in the same mode myself, while trying out new techniques but on simpler builds. Especially at GSL you see how much talent it takes to win the OOB category. Even box stock models allow many layers of careful detailing to make a standard kit shine.

Great interview! I was honored to get to meet and talk with you and James. I feel like James when it comes to the detailing. It adds so much more time in addition to already building a clean box stock model. If you're into competing, I guess sure. And I have so much to build still. I've been learning so much from both your channels.
Doug! Thank you for this video! James is a fantastic model builder! Im a member in his model club for many years. Every time he brings in a completed build, its stunning , its contest quality and now like he says he's moved on to a new challenge doing box stock builds the very best he can do and continues to always get better. If I'm building Box Stock, I like to choose the option that will make me use the most parts from the kit.
