Great interview. The interviewer not only asks questions, she also answers them.
Tf they in woodshop class for? 😂
I really don't understand why ppl in Hasan's chat get angry with him when they already know that they'll reject each of his takes on Kamala and her "opportunities"-focused election platform that will ultimately achieve very little for the working class (Kamala never even says "working class", just "middle class"). Hasan's been consistent on these issues for years, and he doesn't ever claim that Trump will achieve any better. So if they're waiting for him to change on these issues, they're really just hate-watching him from beginning to end.
Cause he is helping Trump
@SteveVJones Criticisms of Harris does not equate to helping Trump. Quit try to pretend that Harris is immune to all Criticisms.
@@SteveVJones actually no
They say “middle class” because Americans are stupid and we all believe we are middle class even if we’re poor or rich.
It’s as simple as that.
Nah man, it's not hate watch, we are all as young people on the titanic with him as this empire implodes one step at a time, a slow motion catastrophe beyond one news coverage. He is the ambassador of futile logic, which currently, tracks extremely accurately. The villains won and he's walking us through what to expect, either or candidate of doom-bringing. Free Palestine. F kamala.
Wtf Hasan’s jacket looks like a Christmas tree on screen. 😂
On taxes in the US: Can I just say how mind blown I was (in a bad way) when I heard that some taxes in the US are capped at a certain max amount? Like, not a "you only start paying this once you earn over a certain amount", but "you don't pay any more after you earn a certain amount."
Story time: A couple of my Uni friends travelled to America to work after graduating while I and most of the rest of my friends stayed in Australia to work. For reference, we all work in tech and at big tech companies and earned pretty decent money. After a few years, we were talking about the different earnings between the two groups (in relation to the US-based friends eventually saving up enough to buy a house in Sydney for themselves that they could also support their parents in). Not only were they earning more in raw salary, but their employee share grants were barely taxed at all! For us in Australia, our employee shares were a bit of a logistical frustration, but they're still taxed as income when vesting plus additional capital gains tax on any amount they go up between vesting and selling. For the US folks, they were only taxed on a certain amount of employee shares, and then anything above that was essentially tax free. Am not sure about capital gains on selling, but it was basically free additional income from a tax standpoint. It's more efficient for them to be paid in shares than to be paid in dollars. I can't remember if that was free of all taxes or only a certain tax, but here in Australia with our progressive tax system, if you earn more, you're taxed more, and that's how it should be.
That loophole should not exist. There should be no dollar amount _above_ which your tax bracket goes down. America would be raking in a lot more dollars if they just closed that loophole. These aren't millionaires we're talking about, though this was a well above average salary role. It's these types of silly little loopholes that means even normal, non-purposeful-tax-dodging but well-paid people aren't paying as much tax proportionally as those on lower incomes, which is _not_ how a tax system is supposed to work! Like my friends also found it ridiculous that they would be benefitting from such weird tax laws, even though it was to their advantage. I mean, they were still going to enjoy the benefit because housing in Sydney is some of the worst in the world and they needed to support their parents financially too, but we all felt that that system is _wrong._ Those loopholes need to be closed. We're not talking about obscure mechanisms only used by millionaires who have accountants whose only job is to hide their tax, but normal salaried people who happen to be in a well-paid industry and very good at their jobs are hitting these tax-avoidance limits without purposefully seeking them out.
As George Carlin said " Welcome to the club" Once you get to that threshold , the door opens and you are ""in " . That " in " extends itself across every interaction in your career/ social bubble. It's gross . The 99.% outside that door , pay for this inequality on the daily , yet most aspire to it !
Welcome to America, where poor people pay for the richest people to exploit them, and then thank them for the exploitation. Its a cult
6:49 I wish it was more common knowledge theres more vacant units than individual homeless people in EVERY county in the nation, including LA, SF, and NY. London allows month to month leases of business spaces with adequate plumbing for only the cost of maintaining the unit really. Keeps homeless and poor off the streets, and prevents office spaces from becoming decrepit during downturns
As someone who works at a small tech startup, most awardees don't need the public funding mechanisms they just do it to not have to give equity to vcs. Very dumb policy.
The bar is so high for her and it’s so low for Trump
It really isn’t when all soc dems in Asia and Latin America are running circles around Kamala in leftist messaging
For libs, the bar isn't as high as you may think it is
the bar is in Mariana trench: she supports jeno side, she supports anti-migrant policies.
The bar is this Kamala I will be pro war and keep the immigrants out, Trump is lying he hates war and is to weak on immigration vote Kamala to get trumps plans implamented. her fans sell her as she likes trump on policy without the one quality people like about trump
not supporting a genocide is a pretty low bar in my opinion i could be wrong tho
hardline %20 tax just say it... Everything we do is contributed to tons of infrastructure. WE NEED THIS
I love how the interviewer’s style is so Vivienne Westwood like she’s honestly serving
Not like Vivienne Westwood .
Government Housing projects and section 8 housing kind of don't exist much anymore compared to decades ago, plus they come with a stigma was a challenges. Keep housing development out of real estate contractors, and corporate real estate investors.
The more kamala speaks the more disappointed I feel...
This is truly puzzling. Why would she not want to take measures to create measurable results that actually help. Instead of educating the public and trying to advantage her electorate, she’s creating another information vacuum and using it as cover for her ineffectual policy. It’s really bizarre that this is the DEM candidate, and - ostensibly - the lesser evil.
Hasan go 5 min without saying "having said that however"
"Impossible"
Where the hell are they doing this interview?
Ridin' with Biden baby!
The Mark Cuban was shocking but then he mentioned the job he wanted and it all made sense.
I think that was actually quite a good interview overall! Kamala's feeling a lot more relaxed, she focused on not only housing but public transit, called out taxing corporations and the wealthy more while _specifically_ calling out not raising taxes for those earning under $400k (and while that number could probably be lower, I think even the average "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" should be comfortable that won't affect them), for the most part she spoke to the issues (although giant L on that question about supporting small towns like Springfield while they're experiencing massive growth, making it about illegal immigration and not about better funding for public services like schools and hospitals).
You're right that she's not going full leftie, but she's definitely doing more than what I expect from most liberals (who TBH I have very low expectations for). I wish she spoke more like this more often, and maybe who knows now she's feeling more used to interviewing, she might just do so instead? But also, the questions were very much set up from that young progressive left perspective, so those were easy throws for her to hit for that demo. I wish I had more faith of her bringing up these things of her own accord in other less safely left spaces!
I think we watched different interviews. My take is that the proposals set out by Kamala are so lukewarm because she's going to represent American oligarchs
@@basileaux I mean, they _are_ lukewarm compared to what the US needs, but they're still better than what I normally expect from liberals (including my own PM, Albo). Maybe that's more of a reflection of my extremely low expectations than her actual performance though. If I could replace Albo with Kamala here in Australia, I would be _sooooo_ happy!
@@Respectable_Username There is literally nothing but corporate subsidies. When my child 3 years ago, with insurance we had to pay out $14k. There is nothing presented here that will help the working class.
@@basileaux The child tax credit will give you money every year because you are a parent. The building incentives will bring down home prices and rent. Better public transport options will make it easier to get about places without relying on a car, especially if it breaks down or you become too unwell to drive. Signing aborton into law will protect the health of your family if the worst happens with a future pregnancy. Further empowering the FTC with Lina Khan to go after price gougers will bring down grocery prices in places where the supermarkets are taking advantage. She does have things there for you if you're listening.
they aint going to accomplish any of that unless the oligarchs benefit.

i wonder how hasan would have felt if bernie won and failed to enact every single one of his progressive policies. would he have considered bernie an abject failure or be more nuanced and blame congressional gridlock. i guess we'll never know

Cut the red tape while building houses? Ok girlboss. Way to smite good building and all unions. Sweet. Love it. Spit on us more. More phlegm queen. Gentrifier in chief like buttiboi would. Moar.
explain
@4usmydear By such a statement she is slighting an actual solution to the housing crisis. Before resigning his candidacy, Biden mentioned rent caps. All mention has been dropped by her. Historically, public housing is a cesspool of waste, fraud and unbuilt plans. States and municipalities gobble us the funds for police. Every time. This is one aspect of the crisis. She dropped it. (NOT a concern for anyone right now that rental is the only option unless you make 65-75k/yr. Saying we need to lift the red tape is essentially sweeping under the rug as a do smth later issue. While it ravages the populous fully unregulated. Union workers are the only ones being paid fairly on average in construction. Most do not excel to middle class as employees, not self contractors. To say "cut the tape" on building standard is to endorse anti-unio work for said affordable housing. The disaster we gave witnessed in addressing the lack of affordable housing units has been FAR exceeded by her and dems complete surrender to the biggest lobby in the US, landlords. They run their playbook, their terms, and full deregulation. She's blatantly lying and MOST see through it. Claiming that this economy is good for mobility is pure fallacy. The fake, lying macro-economists the Dem party follows hook line and sinker with direct involvement in writing legislation to bleed us into nonexistence. Just like health insurance they win when we all lose. This is why I'm sharing my hatred for the Dems, their lying risks a very real danger of a fasc takeover in which all progress in society will be reversed to serfdom not joking. We're 90% there thanks to neoliberalism, whatever republican strategy being much worse, economic anarchy and kings and queens of venture capitalists, who gutted the whole country. Wake up man.
11:00 how about Hasan shut up or pause the video so we can hear her answer. Unless he is purposefully talking over her so we can’t hear her terrible answer.
I think your wrong about Harris, her plan will be affective and she hits on all major points on how to improve the economy and make it work for everyone
Hasan, everything will be ok because Kamala grew up as a middle class kid.
He doesn't know what that is.
@@korbendallas7181 by that language. Neither did FDR...
everything will be okay because terminally online leftists know how to criticize but nothing more.
She needs to completely separate herself from Biden, the issues with him were not just his age. If she would just say he was wrong in some of his policies and say how she would fix them, she would absolutely gain more traction. She’d win the state of Michigan easily if she just came out and said what Isreal is doing is criminal instead of repeating the same stuff over and over and over again.
Unfortunately, she will never admit that. She was all for Bidenomics.
What a joke of an interview
How can we afford shipping weapons to Israel?? Should be stopped immediately.
We can afford to buy entire countries. We aren’t short on money in any sense of the word. It’s about allocation
Arms are one of the only things made in the us, they’re “buying” arms we make with “aid” money we “send”
In reality it’s making a few Americans very wealthy since it is our tax dollars being sent as aid that ends up making huge profit for these arms manufacturers.

I dont understand, do they think we're dumb? We know theres housing available, and what restrictions? We all know how modern houses are, theyre built poorly!
If you want to lower the cost of housing, you need to build more housing. It is not that fucking hard to understand
@@AlecBaldwinsTriggerFinger THERE ARE MORE HOUSES THAN PROPLE, LACK OF HOUSES IS NOT THE ISSUE.
The issue is that we allowed the top 10% use housing as a means to store wealth with low taxes and even the ability to passive earn wealth without paying taxes.
This leads to a market that is artificial and does not represent to average buyer. We have been building houses for over 8 years, it didn't lower prices, prices continued to climb.
Don't most new businesses lose money on the first couple of years? What good is a tax credit for a small business, if you are taking a loss anyway? If you new small business isn't losing oney in the first few years, how much is $50k tax credit really going to help you? You're doing exceptionally well already!
A small business in the US is 500 employees or less. That 50k tax break will come in handy for some “small” businesses.
@sevilnatas If you have an operating loss you can still get tax credits. Do you know how tax credits work?

Truth is very necessary. But for most people, it is very unappealing and definitely turns many people off, unfortunately. They just want a hopeful voice to help make things a little sane for what's happening right now. Hassan is not that kind of guy. In my opinion, he's an example of having too much knowledge becoming a curse. Gotta find balance to show a little wisdom but also empathy to help get the message across that isn't off-putting to a lot of people. That's why people like Jon Stewart and John Oliver are very good at this.

I understand why Hasan is critical of Kamala, but with so much at stake, you have to wonder how much of his criticism of her is currently productive. I wish she was more progressive too, but man, can we at least band together for the moment and ensure Trump doesn't win? Because he is objectively worse. Hasan knows this, I know, but when he spends so much time knocking her, it does make his audience apathetic to vote.
