  • After 80mph winds rock our farm, we are left to rebuild and move forward. The focus is on picking up the pieces here at home and also rebuilding the renovation house.
    Shop Our Apparel: www.bunkerbranding.com/pages/...
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

As frustrating as all this is, consider it a blessing that it happened now, with minimal damage, and you are able to strengthen the weak points before they are more of an issue. Be grateful in all things. Lessons are not always easy, but necessary for growth. Bless you and stay safe.

Someday, the day will come where Josh and Erin gather the kids all in the yard, with the beautiful completed house in the background, and tell us that this is their last video, thank you for coming along on our journey, we will treasure the memories... I really dread that day, but I know it will come. Because they will have earned every bit of everything they have. Meanwhile, I will continue to enjoy traveling along life's road with you guys, watching the growth and development. This really is my favorite channel on all of RUclips.

@@poopingandroid An emergency exit does not need to be a full sized door. If you look at civilan air raid shelters the might only be a square hole 2x2 feet as the emergency exit.
Put plate over the hole and fixed with with a beam bolted to the walls. Have the beam in the middle with a single bolt on each side Let there space between the plate and the beam and use some wooden wedges to keep it in place. Now you can get it open by just hitting the wedges. The beam should not have the bolts in holes but slots so you can remove it by just sliding it to the side when no pressure is applied
The other side does not need to be visible. If you put the hole on the upper half of the wall and have loose material like sand or gravel on the other side you can dig it into the shelter and get out.
You need to remember to have the tools you might need to get out in there and a way to get air in. A hand cranked fan that you can attach to air pipes is somthgin to consider.

Probably do buildDeck or similar floor so the entire basement is essentially a concrete bunker.

First off, we are so happy to see yall all being whole and sound! Our prayers are always here for yall! Watching you all through these tribulations well we see that "There is always the unexpected" and in those times it bonds the family in ways that nothing else can do, literally holding each life in your hands and they in turn leaning trust, loyality, also what our children teach us when times and conditions are hard is "Resilence!" To bend and not break! Without that bond than all you do would be hollow! Instead everything yall do and go through are times of promise backed by hard work and integrity, that can't be taught in the depth of meaning in the walls of any school and as for what you faced together and how you all deal with the aftermath, stories will be told in the years to come and the lessons will pay back 10 fold! If you build the chicken coop as an (A) frame like the house, but with a 2 foot wide flat top for the water tank it would shed the winds away better and maybe lowering the floor closer to the axels even if you have to cut slots out of bottom of the roof for the wheels. This will reduce it's height to the ground to keep the winds from going underneath. Another idea for ya. If you fill the tires with hard expanding foam. You'll never have to worry about them going flat ever again. 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

So glad you'all trying to get back to normal.!! Ellie seems to have gotten over it. Good for you Erin to be able to hold a sensible conversation with Ellie, its so cute when she talks. With the Safe Bunker, 4 Concrete walls and a concrete roof,!! make sure you have Ventilation holes or Extractor fans to remove excess heat. I didnt think you would be filming after that trama, but thats how you'all care for US as we all care for you guys!!. Loved how the chickens were looking at you both saying Wheres our house you guys???. (ha-ha), Maybe when rebuilt, put 4 long poles in the ground so you can secure straps at night to them and the chicken house to keep it in 1 place, thank you for actually putting a video out, We are under Code RED for a Heat wave here in the UK 43 Deg mon & tuesday, similar heat to when I was in Hong Kong in 1963. Take care guys glad you are all safe Love from the UK @ 6.45 in de evening x x

You two are so amazing the way you work so well together at everything.
The reno house is really staring to come together now.
Once your at the stage where all the LCL's and walls are done you can really just kick it into another gear and you and we will start seeing the progress move faster and faster.
Hopefully no more weather phenomenons happen and you can stay on track 🙏
Ellie never disappoints she's a little star in every episode she's in which is most.
I think she said we're not taking this door down ?? 😂 she's so funny and she doesn't even know it.
Such a sweet family and I enjoy every step of the adventure but not the last one that was very scary and still had that feeling in this one seeing all the tree damage and the poor chicken coup.. that's got to be a huge challenge getting that thing back to safe living quarters for the mixed flock.
But hang in there gang you've got this you always do.
Praying for safe times ahead and good weather from here on out.
Be safe and God bless you all 🙏

You should put 2 different ways to leave the safe room. What if you go inside the room because of a tornado or a storm and a fallen tree blocks the only door?

Literally picking up the pieces and moving on...that's what you folks do and do well. It is very inspirational and a great example for your kids and your online family. It is modeling what it is to handle life challenges without losing sight of the end goals. Great job guys. Blessings.

Wash, rinse, repeat!! You guys are so lucky. That damage potential was so much higher, as I watched the funnel go by those huge front windows I worried a lot.
Knowing you're not doomsday preppers, having a bunker shelter under the weight of the main house was smart.
And now back to work. Love you guys.

And thank you for starting my family on Every Plate - LOVE so many of the meals. Stir fry & pepper bowls are my kids' favorite!

EUREKA!! Josh Erin, Re chicken coup, x2 POLES x1 CROSS BEAM/PLANK fixed AROUND the coup (like a Goal post in Football) best use large L brackets for top fixing. Can sink Poles to good depth, or if you intend to move coup fix to Concrete Plinth (these can be lifted and moved to any location Maybe have two - one front -one rear??. NOTHING is gonna move!!!. THANKS SO MUCH for a BRILLIANT channel, little Ellie is the 'cutest'! You both have such tremendous resilience and attitude to overcome ANYTHING!!! You SO deserve the success!. God Bless you All.

safe room is always a good idea. concrete walls, floor & ceiling is a lot of weight so....why don't you weld and gusset a smaller space out of 3/8's mild steel (any body can weld mild steel). less work completing, faster to build and cheaper. just a thought. Also there are good reasons why tornado bunkers are often built separate from a main house/residence

Concrete is a good barrier to heat from a fire, I would do the walls out of concrete at the least

Y'all should save the door Ellie decorated and use it in a treehouse for her.
Also, the chicken tractor, maybe sandbags or water bladders to weigh the base down. That or use screw in posts and tie down straps used like hurricaine strapping. Those posts go in and come out easy.
