We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show" MB01OR70EEA0OGJ MB01JUIGOBWS7BY MB01XGGGMLWQ682 MB011IERRY0BOEH MB01M79T4I1EJIL MB011WI5TZJJ185 MB01LZRPETHE0KC MB01ZJICE6QALRJ MB01N7YZLZ6YNO6

CHUCK!!!!!
the line is crazy long because your at the top of a hill. that line has to go down near bedrock.
Eh guy I hope your pump has an integrated check valve but good job get er done
For Josh: Your ability to take on disappointment, and process it effectively, is impressive. I don't think it's just smiling for the camera either. I think you genuinely have the strength.
That strength comes from all the years of being an electrician 😂
Get er done Attitude for sure!!
Great point👍🏻 because I struggle with that.
@@scottshort9877 hahaha- a good answer :-)

😂 Ellie, "Dad said we're almost done..but i don't think so".. She has experience you know!!!
Its ELLIE not Allie,
Ellie makes these videos!!! Just so damn cute!!!! Your entire family are very nice looking. You guys are really good together. Keep it up!!!!!
Ellie: "looks like we're gonna be sittin' here a while". That lil girl is wise way beyond her years!
When my dad was alive he did wells and drilled for water. While you’re doing that make sure you test your water also. You can test the gallons per minute when you do your other tests before you hook up the water to the house.
Watching you guys pulling your pump out of the well brought back so many memories of my dad. He was pulling a pump out of a 350 foot well, by hand, and was looking grey to an employee who called my step mom. He wouldn’t go get checked out so they had me call him and convince him to go to the doctor. His only complaint was that his back hurt between his shoulder blades. I convinced him to be seen at lunch and he was actually having a heart attack. The next day he had open heart surgery where he had a 6 way bypass. He lived for another 10 years I told this story to say that men like him, and I bet Josh is the same way, hardly complain about stuff and just go on. This can be dangerous because they don’t get checked out when they should!! Please guys don’t just let stuff go, get checked out, if not for yourself do it for your family!!
Bless you, my friend.. I`m almost 75, and my grown adult children keep saying I can't get Ill as I`m still there Dad, but like today admit to feeling not so good. Saying I`m OK is really just hoping I`m ok eh. I will arrange another doctor's appointment as soon as I can get one.. thank you for your reminder - Ian - UK.
My Dad was like Josh. He worked 16 hours a day his entire life. If he didn't know how to do something he was an expert by the time he finished his project. My Dad had a stroke while working at his side job. He wouldn't go to the hospital. Eventually my Brother picked up and put him in the truck. He recovered physically and to some extent mentally. He lived another 3 years.
Thank you for sharing this with us, I went through the same with my dad, waiting a year to avoid preexisting condition for insurance. Retired military have the best medical plan with complete coverage. We finally got him to go get checked out, he needed a triple bypass. The nurse asked me to push him to wake up so they could remove the respirator. He was furious with me for months for not letting him sleep. : ) He is still with us 30 years later, but not much longer, mom went before him, I miss her so much, she is a wonderful character, likes to check in with her great granddaughter.
My husband is like that too.
Love ❤
After flushing the line you should put chlorine pellets (swimming pool supply) to sanitize the lines after the flush. A hand full usually does the trick. ............... enjoy
My favorite RUclips channel by far. Thanks for letting us be part of it.
“Looks like we’re going to be sitting here for a minute “. So cute, shes learning the benefits are hard work the right way 🙏
I know my 7yo would not be sitting on that pipe so patiently on his own!
Ellie is the best little helper I’ve seen.
It's always so heartwarming to see Chuck in your Helix ad. He is missed worldwide.🐾💙🐾
I’m glad you replaced everything cause every time you bent the plastic pipe over the edge of the well casing you created a possible future leak.
That was when we were pulling it out (the old water line). When we put the new water line it was able to go right in without touching the casing. Pulling it out was really tough- it definitely wouldn’t have been possible to pull it out without taking breaks but fortunately we decided ahead of time to replace everything 😊
Josh… what a guy… there is nothing this man can’t do. So SMART!!!!! Your a lucky woman Erin…Best couple!!!!
They make pump pullers. I drilled 35 years in MD. Did as little pump work as I could. Left that for plumbers
How is America's most beloved family doing? great afternoon to you.
Mines 185 feet, 110 feet of water and pumps 4 gallons a minute. The first lasted 22 years , present one is a Franklin made in the US.
Hello my friends! :D
I feel for you guys as we have lost our water due to our well pump here before and had to bring our well pump up twice in the past month. My handsome husband and I pulled it up together, with the help of our backhoe, the first time, 350 feet, then we fixed the issues with the wire, got it running and put it back down. A few hours later we tried to get water and got nothing. Then we had to wait for our son to come out and help pull it back out the second time, as the backhoe died and I wasn't strong enough with my back issues to help my handsome husband alone. We got it out the second time and ended up completely replacing our pump and wires. It was an expensive and painful process, but now we should be good for at least 5 years, hopefully closer to 8, like this last pump. :D
Wishing you guys nothing but blessings with your guest property and the guests that visit it. :D
God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friends! :D
What a wonderful team you are...with your go-getter boys and your little smiling helper. My prayers are with you all! 😀👍
The clear stuff in the heat shrink is hot melt glue
Team work makes the dream work, have a good day and a blessed week amen.
What a beautiful couple and a very nice well adjusted family.
You guys seem to conquer all problems thrown at you. You always manage to get everything done and done right. I have learned so much from watching you. Y’all are a wonderful team!💕☺
I've been watching your channel for years. I've enjoyed watching your kids grow up and watching the problem solving of two great parents. I love watching Allie grow up (I thought it was Ellie). Makes me think of my daughter Amy. (47 years old) Appreciate you guys.
Her name is Ellie.
Wow, good thing the entire family was there, because you needed them all!
Both clapping like kids. Love this.
My well is 330 ft deep, I used my truck to pull it out last year. There is no way I could have pulled it by hand . You guys did great 👍
I can’t believe how quick Ellie has grown up! What a young lady she is….and so cute!❤️❤️❤️
In 10-12 yrs. both brothers and dad are going to have to have shotguns handy to keep the boys away!

They have rollers that attach to well casing
It was great that the whole family helped getting the well pump out, what an ordeal. It was funny watching the chickens run after there coop, like they were wondering where are you taking our home 🤣.
Is this doable? Yes,it’s doable! That’s why I love this channel. Working together to conquer your challenges is what it takes👍
Your children and your Pugs are so cute!
Watching Josh with his kids reminds me of how I wasn't a very good parent to my two girls. God bless you guys!
We built a 2 leg a frame with a cross piece with a tire rim to run the pipe and wire over. Center it up and it worked great and have several neighbors borrow it to change pumps in there wells. It's about 18" wide and 3 1/2' tall w/ 24" base. Just a thought if you ever need to do it again. Can use tractor or what ever to pull it out and lower it back down Stay Safe
Who knew you could make replacing a well pump entertaining!
the things that sticks out for me its not just a couples project its a family thing wish i had a family like that keep it up you are an inspiration to us all
Just understand that the reason why you have a million plus subscribers is because of the all of things that you are able to accomplish as a entire family unit . So proud of you all ❤️ and what it takes working through it all 🙂. May your family and life continue to be blessed and I do believe with everything in me that this Mom and Dad are going to be doing everything within their own power to make sure of that. God bless.
You guys - the entire family - are absolutely amazing!
Oooooh that drone view 😍😍😍 just tree's, wood n mountains... N that clearing with the house.... 😮😮😮😮😍😍😍😍😍😍
Your daughter is so precious-- the statements she comes up with out of the blue, makes me smile. You all are such a great family. Such a refreshment in this mad world.
Loved the chickens running after the coop! Hope the new pump worked!
I love the way your family works together. What you have accomplished together is just amazing!
Was so nice to see Chuckie again.❤🙏
Omgosh those chickens running to their house - “wait where ya going??!!!”
So so so cute!!!
Replacing well pumps that way is very difficult. Did it once I will never do it again. They have equipment to do it. That’s way easier just cost a lot more. Nothing stopping you guys !
It's so great for your kiddos to see you smack into adversity, do the necessary problem solving, work together and eventually overcome. You are empowering their futures. Bless you.
The trials the tribulations and the struggles are real! But you two make it look easy, and I know full well it is not! Bless each of you!
Those hens/chickens running after their hen coop was hilarious, reminded me that they look like ladies picking up their skirts and running ha ha, loved it. Seeing all the family all chipping in and helping pulling the cable and helping with the well was a lovely team effort. The holiday house is coming on very well as Josh and Erin always finish things off well, another great job guys. Have a great day.
A tough job made easier by the family and your commitment to quality!
There should be a well construction report filled with the state of West Virginia that tells the depth, GPM, static water. Level!
Your resiliency again amazes me. You get done more before lunch than I do all week!
Looked like a good bit of work to get the job finished!
Smart move to flush out the well water before connecting it to the house plumbing, doing it the same way as when they are initially installed.
Carter gotten a bit taller and getting towards being a young man.
Have fun you guys!
Goulds pumps! 👍🏻
FYI- future reference, tape the wire to the pipe every 10 ft while it’s on the ground before placing back in well.
This helps prevent the wire from Chafing against the side on the well.
Channel locks, channel locks, channel locks yeah baby!
“Looks like we’re going to be here for a minute “. What a doll.
Going to be sitting here for awhile lol, dad said almost done, I don't think so.. she is so precious, all the kids are.. this is a beautiful family.. take care, and keep the videos coming...
Your rebuild, it seems to be one step forward and two steps back. I do feel sorry for you both that you have had so many problems with your rebuild.
Best wishes to you all from Mike. ❤
The first will be the hardest. Easy going for future builds. You have had to learn and calculate on everything on this one.
Getting water at our cabin in Montana was a priority but also caused a lot of stress until we had it.
The whole family gets the old pump out together. Team work! Ellie will remember what to do she and the boys are involved in everything being taught how to make things happen.
Good work... JJ..
Three of us pulled a pump out of a ~300' well. We were spent with it part way out and no way to hold the pipe while we rested. A call to a friend up the road for reinforcements did the trick. He laughed when he arrived since he had some experience with this type of task. He said our screwup was not having a well pipe clamp to hold the pipe when we needed a rest. Hindsight is almost always 20-20. Why did we have to pull it out? It ended up too deep and plugged with silt. Ah yes, fun getting the pitless adapter back in.
So just a little trick… may not have worked due to the overcast on your day but using a mirror to bounce the Sun’s rays down the shaft works better than any flash light ever. Used it to see the bottom of drilled shafts that were 200+ ft deep.
I've never seen a couple handle adversity like you guys....amazing.
Ellie: "Looks like we're going to be sitting here for a minute." 😀
Replacing everything and testing the water is smart. Having no water is crippling. There is nothing as e wonderful as well water! We were on top of a cliff, had a gallon and a half a minute and managed for five of us.
What a chore that was, but you did it like you always do, by teaming up with the kids to help... and one of the dogs to supervise like Chuckie always did ? Hope it gives you clear water for years to come and many guests.
Miss seeing mid week ones hope they come back soon
We will get back to mid week vids soon. Just taking a bit of a break to recharge ourselves 😊
@@WildWonderfulOffGrid 3 or 4 videos a week would be better. Can't get enough of you guys 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I have installed quite a few water pumps myself when I worked for farm service in Preston county. Remember the struggle vividly !
Ohh Chucky. Sweet boy. It's amazing all the work you gutts have accomplished. Also having the kids help is special memories
Love the way the whole family pitches in. You all handle adversity so well....just dig in and get it done. Your daughter cracks me up. So cute.....
put light in the coop! helps my girls immediately. they think the days are longer
MY FAVORITE WV OFF GRID RUclips FAMILY!
😁👍
Well done Erin, learning how to drive a manual gearbox. Dont get cocky, it's easy until you need an emergency, but practice does make perfect. Thanks, and take care.
My grandmothers well was 524ft. Pulling that thing out was an experience.
I have to hand it to all of you for the effort and hard work you do getting things done to obtain your dream. No matter what the job gets done. Now fingers crossed the water is good .Your family and the value’s you are passing onto your kids is priceless.👍
Sending Love from Pennsylvania!❤❤❤
i enjoyed your video today you and josh work so hard together and i love how you two work so well together even when your kids jump in
Ain't nothing easy but u keep working at it u will get it!! Great job!!
For the Chickens i Find Layers Pellets and corn mixed up with used egg shells, they love that mix and started laying again after a week of just one or two eggs to over 14...
I am so glad that you have posted the video today! Makes my day to see you and your family and I especially love seeing your daughter and hearing her voice! She’s such an asset to your videos! The way you both are able to make the best of each situation is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your story with us!
If at first you don't succeed, get Erin in there!
Good afternoon watching from Ontario
The remodel sure has given you a lot of content for your channel!
So lucky that well pump came out. I replaced mine about 6 years ago after it was in the well 26 years and it took 2 days to break it free with the well truck tugging on it. Good job! I love how Ellie is always such a great help!
so cute to see chicks running to catchup to their home going Away
uff da cracks me up every time
There is also plastic centering pieces that should have been put on the plastic well casing approx. every 10 feet or so along with taping the wire as well down the length of the well.
We just had a well put in at our new place in NC. 260 feet;50 gallons per minute. Watching you pull that line out made my stomach hurt.
Some of the egg production is due to shorter daylight hours. You could try adding a light with a timer to the coop, but nature intended rest..
I had to pull a pump years ago, it was 150 ft, it was a tiresome task, so I feel your pain.
How nice the old family working together, good job guys.
Holy crap, you have over a million subscribers!! Congrats!
Awesome job ! pulled several well pumps myself and its no fun. Didn't see you install the electrical wire spacers, this prevents wire rub during starts and stops wire slapping against the water line to prevent grounding issues of insulation wear. Good luck with your water test.
That little Japanese K car truck works out well.
Love how you can figure things out. The kids were a great help, Allie was a super trooper. She knew it wasn’t almost done. LOL
Please take care and stay safe
Ellie*
That big pulley you found with the rope would have worked with a tripod to make life easier to pull the pump
Another superb video production. Kudos to Josh for replacing the well.
You guys have a million subscribers now? That's great! I can remember when you had less than 1k subs
When I lived in NY, up close to the Canadian border, we had to replace the well pump. Our well was 300 feet deep. We pulled it and laid the line in the riad in front of the house. Then it took 3-4 days for the water to clear up!
I helped my buddy change out his well pump. Was definitely a strenuous job. 100 degrees and he ended up having a heart attack. Thankfully recognized the signs and got him to the hospital before any permanent damage. Paid a company to finish while he was in the hospital.
Perseverance pays! Job WELL done!
Good Afternoon Good Video! Stay Warm!!! Much Love you all from 🇺🇸 ❤ 👍🏻😉
Good folk doing good things.
