  • I can honestly tell these are some of my favorite IRs I've ever came across. As been told, I wasn't even asked to do an actual review (apart from my usual 1-1.5 min demo) - it's just what you do when you WAY too excited about tones you're getting from a thing. If you liked the tones, head to www.getgooddru... (not an affiliate link :)) to learn more about Studio Cabs: Contenders ! Big shootout to Franceso and all ‪@GetGoodDrums‬ team for making this happen ❤️

      Thank you so much Prerack❤️ Yeah it absolutely is. And I’m not lying when saying these are probably some of my favourite IRs I’ve ever came across

    Great demo, interesting to see that we do most of the same way. I use the Carl Martin Plexi Ranger, only the Boost part as a type of treble boost as you do, on to the UA Twin 710 Preamp, which makes my Neural plugins sound even better to my ears. I don't have GGD's latest release, just the previous three ir packs.
    I can sometimes find the GGD to sound a bit "boxy" and I think like you, don't be afraid to use faders properly. Thank you.

      Wow that’s an interesting chain you’ve got there mate! Treble boosters in front of the amp rule 🤘🏻😊 GGD’s IRs tend to sound a bit softer in the high end indeed (which can possibly “unmask” some boxy midrange as a result). But it’s by no means a bad thing to me personally since I’m having a lot better time dialling generally problematic high end of distorted guitars in the mix, and mostly getting rid of unnecessary mid stuff within the amp itself, or using a multiband compressor afterwards. Still have to level up my mixing skills by far though
      Thanks a lot for watching and sharing your experience!

      @@valerinaatas I'm geeky ;) and it's a very interesting subject. I'm an analog guy from the start. Has real amps (some of them sound really good), load box and Kemper. But at the moment only using the Neural plugins, I think they sound fantastic, but I strongly believe in getting an analog element in the digital chain.
      The Boost part of Plexi Ranger is a development of Carl Martin's own old treble booster, so that's exactly your setup. The UA 710 preamp DI-box gives me the perfect control over the signal and I have quite a few Neurals, I think everything sounds better. Listened to my previous set-up, with the example of my Fortin Cali and Soldano (chug), and it was hard to get it. Now it sounds great and has a clear distinct tone. But I want to emphasize, it is my taste and brain :)

      You’ve actually made me thinking about the potential tone affect of the DI boxes all night long 😄 Doing some research atm, really wonder what i’ll come up with

      @@valerinaatas Take my opinion with a pinch of salt, especially with guitar sound which is a rabbit hole :) You can keep in mind what I think and let it grow. I can't answer how much my UA preamp DI affects the signal, only that it together with the Carl Martin treble boost sounds good. A DI box that seems good and affordable is Warm Audio.

      I also think if you have a good interface with input for guitar, that's enough.

    Do you have light gauge strings on your guitar? because they (IR’s) all sound very Ice-picky! awesome playing though!!

    • @valerinaatas
      @valerinaatas  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah there’s nothing to do with IRs here, it’s just I’ve gone a bit too far with the DI processing haha
      Should’ve probably pick another amp as well, the Omega is quite bright as it is, currently messing around with the Archetype: Nolly’s 5150 and it pairs fantastically.
      10-46 strings, not too light not too fat (for drop D)
      Thanks for watching!
