    I wish Sezane had reviews to read before ordering. I would love to know how items fit and what the fabrics feel like, before buying. Returns are easy enough, but still, I’d rather not be bothered with them.

    Your last videos are really important! I also like Sézane as a brand and own 4 garments from them, but I wonder about all the influencers who release a Sézane video twice a month or more: Who can wear all that? And doesn't that contribute to uncontrolled clothing production and environmental pollution? I appreciate that you now want to take a slower approach: that you still like Sézane, but show and discuss what you already own more often instead of always ordering new things. Big like!

      I think it's so easy as a creator to get carried away, and I've definitely fallen victim to that. You see the other creators around you growing more quickly than you by constantly showing new things, and you feel like the only way to keep up with them is to do the same. I'm coming to realise it's a hamster wheel that unless I make an active choice to step off of, will just keep me running and running in circles. Hopefully the new content coming to the channel from now on will be more inspiring than just constant new clothes! :)

    Hi Katie, I really appreciate your honesty and love watching your videos. I understand as a creator you felt the need to order lots of items to show your viewers what the clothes look like on. But actually I enjoy just as much you talking through the collection and what you think are good pieces. I try and only buy the pieces I know I’m going to love and wear all the time. Sezane is an interesting brand to say the least. To be entirely honest I also returned a lot of items last year from Sezane for various reasons. I think Sezane does try to create this idea of scarcity which encourages impulse buying buy having frequent collections.
    I think what works best for me is when I purchase their classic pieces because they are good quality, well made and can be styled in so many ways. Furthermore they last really well. I bought my tomboy shirt in 2021 and it's still in perfect condition despite the fact it's one of my most worn items. Furthermore, I think they excel in knitwear and sometimes outerwear because they have a lot of natural fabrics. The betty and the gaspard are two classics that fit perfectly with any wardrobe.
    However sometimes some of their items are just... eh kind of hard to style and they end up forgotten in your wardrobe. I barely wear the Victoire jumper which is gorgeous but it's itchy and it is oversized and bulky.
    Looking forward to this new direction in your channel. We need to be mindful of what we buy and purchase items which will fit in our wardrobe.

    I used to think I was the only one, but I'm relieved to know it's not just me. I've purchased quite a few Sezane items that I initially fell in love with, but then I find myself growing tired of them. It's unusual for me because with other brands, I only buy what I truly adore and either wear them regularly or am content seeing them in my wardrobe, even if I don't wear them as frequently. Sezane clothes tend to lose their appeal quickly in my wardrobe. I think it might be because of the hype surrounding them. However, it's only a select few that truly capture the proper Sezane style. Sezane isn't solely about the Parisian girl aesthetic; it's more of a vintage, 70's look, which looks dated after a while.

    • @katie_louise
      @katie_louise  Год назад +9

      So interesting, thank you for sharing this! I think for me it might be because there are so many new releases, and once I've bought something and worn it once, there's already a new item that people are obsessing over and trying to get their hands on, before it sells out. So I don't get to enjoy the item I literally just bought.

      @tomatofeind2019 Год назад +7

      I agree 100%, they have for some god forsaken reason started to embrace a 70s hippy look which is so un parisian which is more clean and classic. Theyve some how managed to convince sheeple that this style is 'french girl' when its really not. I like some of their classic peices (chlo blouse, gaspard etc) but I can not fathom why people buy these clashing 70s inspired hippy colour soup collection.

    • @isibisi87
      @isibisi87 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@micheleurciuoli3507I think it really depends. The Vic and Dorotha dresses come in really beautiful floral patterns, are made of silk (some are viscose, but I'd stay away from Sezane viscose...), and have such simple cuts, that they basically work with everything when dressed down. I live in those during summer. And then some jumpers (Mia/Leon) come in wearable colours that fit your other Sezane clothing and almost every kind of jeans. I feel the skirts and blouses are too crazy sometimes and can't be mixed well. But just staying with the very basic basics would be kinda sad. 😅

      @katie_louise  Год назад

      It's definitely hit and miss sometimes, hopefully my videos can help although I appreciate we're different sizes. If you're tall and thin the Betty may be too cropped on you (depends what you like) although the good news is a lot of Sézane's clothing should work for you as I feel most of their clothes are made for that body type haha :)

    • @isibisi87
      @isibisi87 9 месяцев назад

      I am 5'8 as well and Betty is too short to be tucked in and is super boxy. It hits me right in the waist, which means you can see whatever you wear underneath when lifting the arms. And it is meant to be worn with something underneath (winter item). I sized down to S, just so the boxy cut wouldn't swallow me. But then the shoulder seams were just okay and I couldn't button it up without pulling. I sold it after a few months of not being able to make it work. Super unfortunate, because it looks so chic on women with more shapely upper bodies. 😅 You also would never guess this from the pictures alone. Which in turn leads to quite excessive ordering+returning. At least I now know that anything "mini/short" is not worth the effort for my size. ;)

    I’ll probably sell the knit dress and the Sezane sweaters that I got that are in those blends with mohair or alpaca and nylon, they are incredibly irritating to my skin and eyes (the fibers drift in). I always wear long-sleeved silk jersey tees or turtlenecks underneath, too, but they still itch and scratch like mad. I have no problem with their merino wool, in 100% like my Betty Cardigans, or blended with organic cotton. Most of these items I got recently, in spring colors, so I’ll try to wear them a few times first. They were so pretty and in my Summer-Type coloring palette, hard to find, that I couldn’t resist. But I learned, really reinforced, my lesson, never compromise on fabric composition. I know what will happen - I’ll wear them, then take them off in an hour because I can’t stand them. It’s not very practical, I don’t even take outfit photos, so what’s the point?

    As much as I enjoy the try ons and your reviews, I was wondering how you feel about returning so many items from a climate / moral point of view. How can we be sure that the items ,unlike with other popular brands, go back into stock and not in the trash? There have been dozens of documentaries proving such things.
    Additionally the entire shipping process is wasteful as well.
    Maybe there is another, more conscious way of consuming and making interesting videos? I really like it when you had the disclaimers in your earlier videos about not buying everything you see :)

    • @katie_louise
      @katie_louise  Год назад +3

      Yes, I agree it's problematic!
      I have spoken to Sézane about returns in the past and they assured me the items do not get thrown out. I think at the price point of Sézane that is less likely than very cheap, fast fashion brands but I totally agree about even the shipping process being wasteful.
      I've been thinking about ways I can combat this for a while. I think firstly it's about creating less haul/review videos, which I already plan on doing. But I also appreciate that if, say, 10,000 people watch my video and from that maybe even 1% of those people learn something and therefore reduce their return rate, that easily cancels out the 1 return that I placed, if that makes any sense at all!
      So if I can make the videos genuinely informative, and help people buy less but buy better, the good may outweigh the bad.
      Thirdly, I was also looking in to those 'carbon offset' companies, where essentially you donate money to 'offset' the carbon emissions of your actions. Lots of people do it for flights, but I was thinking I could do it on the occasions I do place larger orders, for the purpose of review.
      I should also bring back the disclaimer, you are totally right! I'll do that when I do next make a review video.
      Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! xx

    The waistbands in their knitted skirts run very small, I need to size up quite a bit from my regular (with a fitted waistband) Sezane skirt size. I have a very different shape from yours, with no hip curves at all and skinny thighs, so only their knitted trousers work for me. The structured ones make stupid-looking empty flaps of fabric sticking out where a more average-shape woman’s curves would fill them out properly. This isn’t unique to Sezane, though, I can rarely find a proper fit in any trousers or jeans, even in men’s, which are smaller there. At age 63, I’ve been trying for at least 50 years to find any trousers that work, but mostly I wear skirts or dresses. They are a lot more comfortable anyway. Sezane’s knit trousers do work ok, but they are ridiculously long on 5’4” me, average height for American women. I had them hemmed, but even the experienced professional tailor I employ couldn’t make the hems invisible, it’s really difficult with knits. I wish they offered short lengths.
