    I remember when I was a kid, I’d heard of Spring water of course, but didn’t really know what it was.
    I thought it was just a river that flows down a mountain 😂
    One day, a friend and I were drinking water from a river, telling each other “mmmm fresh mountain stream”, we walked further up the river and there was a rotting sheep in the water😩😂

I feel blessed to have this beautiful, natural resource FREE! People travel far and wide to enjoy this constantly flowing Spring. I was there today and one man said he traveled from Redmond, WA.

    Our hunting cabin in VT has well water. We filter it with a Berky filter. It works great. Water comes out clear and clean tasting. We do get water from a apring in NH. Its collected right where it comes out of the ground. I didnt filter for years but now that we have the Berkey I run it through. Doesn't hurt or cost anything since we already own the filter.

    The BPA free water bottles are great, except they do tend to become brittle quickly and break more easily than glass, so make sure not to store them in any extreme temperature areas to extend the life of the plastic bottle. There is a perfect spring in Vermont that I used to get spring water from. I haven't found one close by where I am in California now but when it rains there is a clean creek that I grab from in the winter time.
    Be well! Thank you, great video!🙏

    cool, fluoride and chlorine sucks man... spring water may prevents tha lack of b12, right?

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  8 лет назад +4

      +lucas You are right, they bung up that pineal gland, mess up our gut flora amongst others issues. Untreated ground water has been shown to contain b12, but I didn't want to address that in this video as people get touchy about b12. "show me the studiesss" haha, which is true, I've never seen any saying that it will prevent deficiency, but there are lots of water reports out there showing it does have b12.

    • @TheAKAQ
      @TheAKAQ 8 лет назад +1

      Yes, it even mess up hormones. Another option would be bottled water, but it is filled with plastic stuff, which is not optimal.The ideal would be drinking and showering with spring water only. I'm working to be able to do this in the future. ;D

    • @TheJackRayner
      @TheJackRayner 8 лет назад

      +lucas Chlorine is actually quite awesome. 700 million people drink dirty water everyday (many of whom go on to get sick - exacerbating their cycle of poverty - or they die). They could do with that chlorine you no longer want?

    • @TheAKAQ
      @TheAKAQ 8 лет назад +4

      Chlorine may kill bugs and help us not get sick from dirty water, but it is not quite awesome for your body. The ideal is CLEAN water with no chlorine, like thw one in the video. If you have acess to that, you are lucky.

    How long would you store this water? And is it safe to just drink it straight or do you add a couple drops of bleach or anything to purify it for safety or germ or bacteria reasons? I have a Spring near me I've been drinking for years but recently someone told me it may not be safe because of infections or germs and come to think of it, I usually boil the water for coffee, so I don't drink it straight very often, but now I'm starting to wonder and you seem like you would know thank you.!!

    • @azenthi5969
      @azenthi5969 2 года назад +1

      Boil it first and you should be okay but probably wouldn't hurt you. There are usually very few dangerous chemicals in spring water after filtration but there can be coliform bacteria and e-coli and the like. If you are going out of the way to bottle spring water it wouldn't be too much work but you are probably fine if you got thirsty while hiking.

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  8 лет назад +1

      +Soul Spark Yah, boiling it will kill pathogens but doesn't do anything for things like arsenic which are terribly toxic. You can get a sample tested at a near by university or science lab for usually around $75 - $100. This spring has a sign like that too, but after speaking with the grounds keeper of the park it is more to cover their butts legally and also deter too many people from clogging up the park entrance since it is on the access road. After a recent David Wolfe talk in town there was a huge spike in Spring Water seekers. lol.

    • @TheJackRayner

      +Simnett Nutrition Untreated water must be boiled at 100 degs cent. (obviously lol) for atleast 10 minutes to eliminate heat stable pathogens. Generally this is not a viable option because of the energy/time costs, and due to the inefficiency caused by evaporative loss. At the risk of sounding like a broken record: tap water is safer and cheap people.

    • @TheJackRayner
      @TheJackRayner 8 лет назад

      +Simnett Nutrition For instance, the genus of Clostridium bacteria (spore forming) can survive at temps above 100 degs. Just because you haven't got sick, does not mean you won't!! Clos. can fuck you up too !!! :(

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  8 лет назад +8

      +abhineet kapil Yah for sure. There are likely some. Although from a spring there are far fewer than standing water, run off, or river water. We have things like stomach acid and gut flora for that very reason. There is a risk to everything, sure tap water poses different risks, but bacteria is everywhere. After 10 years of drinking it, I haven't suffered any illness (other than the occasional cold), diarrhea or any other symptoms that would suggest I have contracted anything from it. Thanks for the concern though, just call me Tarzan I'm a wild man.

    • @TheJackRayner
      @TheJackRayner 8 лет назад +1

      +Simnett Nutrition Stomach acid and gut flora will not protect you from enteric diseases etc. Your argument is a zero sum - 'well some risk here justifies another risk here' - that's (vegan) baloney brutha! :P The risks drinking from the tap are INCREDIBLY low and the risks of drinking untreated water significantly higher. This explains why we see a huge difference in illness rates as a result of contaminated water intake in developed vs. developing countries. I know it's flattering to consider yourself a wildman - or one with nature - as a result of your choice of water consumption, and I am relieved (for your sake) that you haven't contracted any illnesses in the 10 years that you've gone ahead with this behaviour but honestly it won't make your life any better. First of all, check if fluoride is added to the municipal supplies in your area (as generally this was only the case in impoverished areas to promote dental health in the poor) then I'd ask that you provide scientific evidence to back up the theory that the chlorine found in end-user municipal water - from the tap - is of a significant detriment to human gut flora.
