I am not a huge book fan. I came to Dune (like most) through the films and internet. So this series was very entertaining for me and thrilling. I get the criticism tho. Brian was no Frank.
HBO confirmed Dune Prophecy season 2 in an announcement during a virtual press conference reported on in the media yesterday, 12/21/2025. It seemed in this video maybe y'all hadn't read the news. You two were the first folks I thought of when I read the reporting.
i thought it was already greenlight... wait lemme check: "Yes, Dune: Prophecy will return for a second season on HBO and Max. The network renewed the series just days before the Season 1 finale"
I have not read the books but I have a question about the ancestor's memories ... so if I am a reverend mother, and I have 2 twin girls, and they become reverend mothers... they hear the same voices saying the same things at the same time, how would that work?
For a franchise that's all about schemers, valia is pretty aggressively bad at it. Her plan at the palace was get arrested, free Ines, give up her secret weapon to try to stab Desmond (why was she even there???), have Fransesca kill Havico, flee without either of them, and hope Ines has a shortcut because otherwise they're trapped? Also, surely the person who scanned the palace should be the person who mentions the shortcut, right? That entire sequence was some of the worst TV I've watched. But man they nailed the sisterhood scenes. Honestly the only reason I kept watching.
Also how would doratera have the memory of herself being killed. Because from what I understand you inherit the memory’s and persona of your ancestors in your DNA ie Lilia . But Doratera’s daughter would have be born before doratera got killed, so how would her daughter and granddaughter inherit that specific memory. Like Paul inheriting Jessica memory as a baby makes sense because that happened before she gave birth to him so he inherited those specific memories. Unless they are trying to say all memories go into some special ancestral realm that you can access like that Avatar lol but that sounds mystical than Si-fi .Idk
@ I think you missed what I was saying . Lila is her granddaughter and she “inherited” her persona and specific memories from Dorotea in her DNA which she could access with the drug. The real Dorotea along with that memory of her being killed , she would not have been able to pass that specific memory of her death on to her offspring unless she was pregnant and so why would Lilia (Dorotea persona) want revenge. It’s Just simple cause and effect. It’s like having a clone who inherited your childhood memory’s but then you went to go live separate lives. The clone would not inherit your other memories.
i really want to like this show and i want it to do well, but i am struggling. watching this show after episode 3 was a chore and there are so many things that didn't work for me or make sense in the great scheme of things. i think this is largely due to the source material, so i want to give the show space to do its thing. But season 1 was largely a failure for me but i am glad to hear we are getting second season.
I would rate the season 6.5 at best, not bad but could have been way better. Seeing Arrakis at end gave me goosebumps tbh. Hopefully they will explore that part of Dune further.
Okay one question maybe a plot hole ? When valya shows the other acolytes the voice, after she has that talk with raquella, shouldn’t they not already have known? So why now when we saw their perspective of dorotheas murder, they(Kasha and Francesca ) were surprised by the voice ? Plot hole or am I missing something?
Man, why are the fans so toxic for a novel that is considered to be impossible to make a movie or a series. Pls do criticise but stop with this shitting on brian and later books, gawd frank's dead. The novel wouldn't be same anymore. The series/movie would be the same anymore.
I think the scene of ynez going from that to a random guard shows how bad production and the story board was and how they had to do stuff like this to resurrect the show, whether or not it was a good decision.
I really dont understand what TV studios are doing. What are they really trying to accomplish? The raw materials are there and the ideas are good but the execution and the story are completely lost. This episode was empty, it was like watching the void. I found myself fast forwarding because I wanted to know what was going happen but the road was slow and lacked maturity, surprise, or even purpose. I did not watch at all the whole Dorothea Sisterhood, because I knew were it was going and did not care for its conclusion. I skipped the only action sequence in the show because it did not have any stakes or meaning. Even the fear thing for Valya was revealing but not transformative. I truly dont know what the show is trying to do. Is not smart enough to have so many deaths, but is not literate enough to be a tragedy full of bad people. The answers were not satisfying and I felt like I have watched the promo of a future show, 6 episodes of tease. Come on tv people, it is not hard to create part ones. Look at Wicked, Dead Reckoning, Spiderman into the Spiderverse, the Force Awakens, these are all part ones that leave you satisfied and wanting for more. And believe me, I do not want more of this show.
I learned about Dune through the original movie as a kid. To be fair I’ve been a casual fan until the new movies came in. I listened to your podcast and learned SO MUCH about the Dune world and have enjoyed your episodes immensely. I absolutely loved this series, and I’m really struggling to understand why you guys are shitting all over this. This was excellent TV and preaching about the inside baseball of plot devices and technical explanations is not a good look from my point of view. Dune is a fantasy, fiction is a fantasy. Take a step back and enjoy the show. I feel like you guys are climbing the ivory tower and I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth it to look up. Hopefully you continue to explore the world outside of the movies and TV shows, because at this point I’m just gonna skip anything that is not an exploration of existing literary material.
We don't "take a step back back and just enjoy" the original books - instead we choose to engage with them deeply and critically to understand them better, to celebrate what works, and to critique what doesn't. Why wouldn't we treat TV the same way? Why the double standard?
The blue eyes were always going to be a machine

They watched the episode and recorded this before the news was announced.

And I want to point that Atreydes guy being caught wasn't explained as Francesca framed him. So that guy just left all evidences in a locker

Dorothe doesn’t have to inherit a memory of dying; she was there. She relives it. It isn’t revealed to her.

Do the other memories communicate w each other? Maybe Dorothea knew that way

The Brian shit is really holding back the show. Hopefully they move away from that nonsense in season 2

I think they were shocked by her use of the Voice for cold blooded murder, not by the Voice itself.
They were shocked she used it to kill Dorothea not surprised she had the power
@@AHomelessDorito but in the scene the schock came before the murder right after the voice was used

Constantine will be Emperor in the end. It's the only thing that makes sense.
