These random spur of the moment buys are some of the best episodes. They turn into kids in a candy store every time.
Most expensive too..lol
I agree
Would love to have all your painting stuff will pay for shipping
The money he could possibly make off of this buy doesn't make sense. He probably makes ten times more than that just waking up and taking a dump in the morning.
I couldn’t stop laughing the whole time. Some of the best vids are these kind.
Am I the only one that thinks Heavy D is becoming the new American pickers? It’s funny yet extremely interesting and entertaining. Keep it up boys
His family will have a hard time dispersing all his accumulations Took us months to disperse our dad's accumilations. Dave must be renting several warehouses.
Don't you mean the american scammer come buy my mystery boxes 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Except Sparks' stuff isn't 80% scripted...
Dude bought all the junk that was left after being picked though to hopefully break even lol.
@@6jonline I don’t even mind that’s American pickers is scripted because the places they go and the people they find are absolutely amazing. Being from the uk I’d never be able to see the small town museums and the towns that old dudes create just because they wanted to.z
The most amazing thing was that the store was pretty much intact and not broken into after being abandoned for 10 to 12 years.
That's because the looters don't understand value in saw blades, diamond bits, etc. Not kidding.
Totally agree especially the way things have been in Detroit.
Well it was until heavy D got there! :D While old stuff is durable it pains to see them just being tossed like that.
Is this the store off of Trumbull?
@@rg20322 You kidding, crack heads will bust into a ran down shed in someone's backyard in the hopes of finding ten bucks worth of tools to pawn. Did a security gig while a restaurant was being remodeled and the contractor's biggest thing was to watch over the tool locker because another job he did someone came by and cleaned it out.
Used to work at a hardware store as a kid and this brings me back. Lots of key cutting, pipe cutting, pipe fitting and digging through serv-a-lite boxes with countless specialty nuts and bolts helping local folks find that perfect part for their projects. Great find!
Same here! I was with a little Ace Hardware in Westampton NJ, long gone now Home Depot and Lowes moved in back in 2000 and shut it down 2 years later.. I worked there through the late 90s until they closed. I can't tell you how man wheel barrows I've put together or how many cans of paint I mixed by hand or how many keys I've cut. I was 18 at the time and I learned SO much from the 2 old guys who lived there (they worked 7 days a week there) Such good memories, I became a handyman on the side as a grownup from what I learned at Ace. So cool! Man I learned how to operate a forklift, he had a little one there, the memories are flooding back!
My brother started at a small hardware shop, shortly after he graduated college. Owner decided to retire, his kids didn't want it, so the store closed, and he went to Home Depot. Still very close to a bunch of the local colleges and a *lot* of apartment complexes. We* have never had those "do not duplicate" keys, but that didn't stop apartment landlords/college dorm maintenance from needing literally 75-100 keys at a go, every 3-4 months, like clockwork, when they changed locks with semester changes. When we got those automated machines in, my brother supposedly held the rep's briefcase hostage to keep the manual cutter, because he knew the automated ones would *not* be fast enough for the amount of keys he sometimes needed to cut in a day. Surprisingly, it worked--we had that manual machine until the store just couldn't get parts for it. (*Same store, different departments, lol. Good place to work!)
The camera panning through the store brought back memories of going into the old mom-and-pop hardware stores getting pretty much whatever was needed at reasonable prices from friendly and helpful people.
We still have one on our court square. Hate going there, cause it means something is broke and I have to fix it😂
I think Hans lost his mind after he huffed that cleaner. You guys definitely don’t disappoint. 😂
Time for an intervention. Hans we're really concerned about you.......
Mmmm laquer😂😂
😂😂😂
Yep and Hans thought nothing of destroying that wide straight razor, Damn what a waste, get help Hans and fix that razor if it can be? send it to me I'll fix it and keep it.
He went to another planet
Man it makes me sad to see what someone probably spent their whole life building, just torn apart and ended so quickly. That store was probably bustling back in the day, Detroit houses are crotchety old birds and these neighborhood stores were all we had. The guys working them were the most knowledgeable and helpful you could ever want.
Well it was ended quickly lol
Happens every day.
Taken over by franchise. Mom and pop’s store is a thing of yesterday.
These old small hardwares were priceless the people were knowledgeable and helpful unlike the corporate boxstores we have now
@@williamdon3442and it’s truly sad. These smaller people just trying to make a living and name for themselves, just gets wiped away by big corporations that are mostly just greedy.
I bought the hardware store in Turlock, CA when it closed in 1992. I had nuts and bolts in my shop that everyone in my area would use ( honor system) lasted for 29 years. Lost my home and shop in a fire, burnt to the ground. What a nightmare.
Damn shame the small hardware stores like this are disappearing from our landscape...
And most of the profitable small family owned ones are now corporate franchises that sell the same chicom junk as anyone else.
IF THIS STORE WASN'T IN CRIME CENTRAL IN A DYING CITY, IT'D PROBABLY STILL BE OPEN.
@@JustBlaccSwann thats true as well
Thanks to places like Home Depot or Lowes
I appreciated the irony of them going to Home Depot to stock up on containers to use for packing up the hardware/
It is sad to see old hardware stores like that closed down.
Tragic state of our country 😊
This is what happens every week to small hardware stores. Walmart and HD make these small stores uneconomical. I've been to a couple of these oob sales. It's sad, but this is end of life for places like this. Morticians and job-lotters have a lot in common.
Very sad.
Yeah I work at a Hardware store but we just cannot compete with the big box stores.
Even here in Australia. So sad
I like that you have outros now, rather than the sudden cut offs. It makes the videos feel much more complete. Well done!
Props for the videography and editing man. This was 18 ct GOLD. Keep up the good work Heavy D crew. You ROCK!
This brought back so many memories of hardware stores growing up.
It is sad, like the end of an era. I am sure they will be missed.
I know of a couple of old school hardware stores and do my best to support them.
My favorite is a feed and hardware store where nails are still sold by the pound.
You have some real treasures in that load.
Lets be honest, we're all just living vicariously through Dave
100,000 percent.... lol dude is living the life most men dream of one day living. It definitely goes to show that good things happen to good people, and this group of dudes fully deserve the good karma and amazing life theyve built stemming from being all around great people.
An that should be your sign to put your phone down an go outside before you spend the rest of your life watching a comedy skit another man post on RUclips.
@@justinatkinson5265 nah I'm good
Almost, but not quite; I'm living vicariously through Hans.
Geeez , dont haul the solvents & flairs like that
Ah, the memories of working in a small mom and pop hardware store. I mixed the paint and ran the cash register. There were no big box stores anywhere near, so this was the go-to place for seeds and garden supplies, tools of all kinds, chains, and locks. Small town and everyone knew you or was related somehow. And you could order parts for your vehicle or farm equipment. We always had cold ice water available and hot coffee. It sat right on Main Street. I swear that building had been there since the 1900's.
So pumped right now going to be in Your neighborhood for two days at end of May. can’t wait to stop by the shop and see where the magic happens!!!
Absolutely beautiful truck. Should have showed the interior as well. Really like that y’all left the tool/storage box on the truck behind the sleeper.
Polish people are extremely nice. Had polish renters before and they were some of the nicest and honest people we’ve had to rent our home.
Thanks😊
We also like to cook a lot and feed people.
Delicious food
Agreed! 🙂
There’s definitely some irony in the fact that y’all went to Home Depot to get bins and buckets to pack up the old hardware store…. Love this episode! And that w900 is drippyyyy 😍😍😍😍
I just wanna say as someone who’s family owns a hardware store that’s been open since 1871, it amazing the amount of stuff I spotted on the shelves that’s been there for decades is the same stuff we have that sits around on our shelves forever too.
Also we have that same exact paint mixing equipment, and red devil paint shaker. I don’t know what someone did to that poor paint shaker, but I can tell you the original base is missing, and the paint can flew out because it’s put together wrong. The clamps are supposed to cradle the paint cans sideways not vertically.
Keep doing what ur doing because I’ve seen what you’ve done for communities and people and it’s just brightens my day when I see the notifications
I love these videos. Watching Diesel Dave and Hans clowning around in these and Alan being like a child in candy store is the best. Also the cameramen and editors are a treasure. keep them at all cost.
It’s like experiencing drugs without having to do them lol
Sniffing the lacquer thinner and then alan and the pennies 😂❤
I need those rack shelving and bin shelves
Hell yeah, dad's nut & bolt buckets / trays in my case were life savers sooo many times. Love that, big love you guys
You GUYS are ROCKING....You GUYS are the REAL DEAL!
I think this is great! I do take a few moments of sadness though.
This used to be a business. Somebodies pride, joy and hard work. Shame to see it picked apart like this.
That said, I hope some good use can come from the parts left and that the next tenant can make a success of it.
Thanks for taking us along.
The place has been closed for years. It is a wonder that anything was left in the building.
@@harpintn Good point!
Alan's stoked about the pipe threader! Lol these are fun to watch and it's always interesting at least to me of past hardware stores and other small businesses that are now retired. Great vid guys!
Agreed. I'd rather see the long abandoned remnants sold as intended, rather than being thrown in the dumpster though.
Baffles me how/why it wasn't sold a decade ago, when surely it would have held more value as it was newer/more relevant stock though
@@philgrimsey3637 ...it's in Detroit... that's why ...
Thanks for sharing this I love when you do these
You guys are some crazy ass guys. I love it. 😊 Your attitudes, demeanor and pretty much everything is just like the people I hung around with when I was younger. Keep up being real. Untill the next video. ❤
Best episode yet!!! I would've paid money to dig through that gold! Especially with Alan!
That is a beautiful truck! It is a beautiful color and looks pristine. How fortunate you are to have such good friends. I hope you make big money on the hardware no matter if you sell it or it goes into your stock to use. Blessings from Proctor Minnesota!
Nice buy with your new truck looks really good Heavy D. Cool very cool looking truck please be safe and god bless you and your crew.
Nice KW! The paint job is great. My dad drove Peterbilts as a hay dealer in the 50s-70s. The smell of diesel exhaust makes me smile! 😀
@Heavy D Sparks - Enjoyed your Detroit hardware store video. It sounds like your KW "rentaL" had an Eaton Fuller 18-speed. If you took I-94 from Chicago to Detroit, you probably noticed the Eaton North American headquarters building east of Kalamazoo on your way to Battle Creek. God Bless!
I love how you share both the highs and lows of this adventure. It's refreshing to see the reality of the process and the hurdles you face along the way. Looking forward to the next chapter!
The highs are that moron sniffing "lacquer thinner" ! That will get you high as a kite. And yes, he really was sniffing it. If you rewatch, you will see he takes a brand new can. And I know those cans. I have used many. They don't have a metal cap inside !
One of my favorite memories as a child was going to Western Auto or any local hardware store. I love the feel and the SMELLS of an old fashioned hardware or feed/farm store.
A great find! Thanks for sharing these treasures!
My favorite channel to watch on RUclips by far
I am so bummed you were in detroit and I didn't get to meet you! I hope you're very prosperous
Love watching your videos I live in Australia and spend my free time watching your videos.
Oh yeah, what a great video of you guys. Geez, you could have asked. I could have come help. Boy, that truck is so very beautiful. To have great people to help out. Great job to them, polish gentlemen. Love the video.
Alan must be in heaven!! This is right up his alley!! It has everything you could possibly want!!
another problem hoarder
Old hardware stores are such a treasure. I will always remember going to them with my dad as a kid and finding the best things, I am now bringing my kids to them whenever we see a true old-fashioned hardware store. They are a diamond in the rough for sure. Great video
I remember even in California where I'm from they use to sell guns an ammo in hardware stores now only select few there's an ace hardware that I go to that still sells guns hardware stores are awesome
Western auto
I love that this is the video released on the day I get my CDL. Great stuff
Interesting for a start up ! Thanks for sharing ! The KW is the Score !
Really reminded me of the old hardware/lumberyard from my old home town when I was growing up. Alan got REALLY excited when he found that old pipe threader. That may wind up on top of his mountain. Pretty funny watching Hans. He was so into that register tape, and then the VCR tape....... Hans, I think you might have sniffed that can just a little too much. LOL
Hans with a big straight razor in his hand. :O
Looks like all of you are having a great time looking at all those things. A bunch of kids having fun.😄👍❤️
Dave certainly has a great eye for speculating and then accumulating on what he's paying out for ( BREAD - HEAD ) Can't beat it as i have said for many a year now is money breed's money! And it's spot on correct just looking at Dave's smart investigative blind buy's over the last 12 months or so!!! Proud too be a subscriber to his channel as well as diesel Dave's too when you showed your first shot of the inside of the hardware store I had a smell that came into my nostrils and it took me back to the time when my mother sent me down to our villages hardware store with a list of stuff my mum wanted " NOT " LIKE TARTAN PAINT, SKYHOOKS, BARBEDWIRE SEEDS, A LEFT HANDED SCREWDRIVER, AND A LIGHTWEIGHT LUMP - HAMMER, AND TO TOP IT OFF? A LONG WAIT ,AND BOY IT WAS A LONG WAIT TOO ! AND I WAITED IN THE CORNER OF THE SHOP FOR WHAT I CAN REMEMBER WAS JUST SHORT OF AN HOUR AND IT MADE ME LOOK A RITE TOOL XX
I'd love to have my own hardware store. All those nuts and bolts would come in handy. It's often hard to find the right pitch, thread, and size of bolts. True, much of it is completely outdated but there's always someone looking for that little piece they need to repair something. Thanks for the video!
Any time you can buy something and sell it for a profit is a good day. Great job love the video.
Great video. I'm afraid that I'd be so interested in looking through everything that I'd never get out of there. Great job.
Been watching you since you were the diesel brothers and now you 40 minutes from my hometown. So so cool to see you come out to Michigan!!
And the boys at the beginning are Polish!! Polish pride!!!!
Ah! The enthusiasm on your workers faces, Priceless. 👍
I can’t wait to watch the bus build series !!!!
I have literally driven past this place a hundred times. Always wondered about the history of this building and many others in the area. Absolutely hilarious that Dave ended up buying it.
I have driven past it too
Where’s this place at I know I’ve seen it and think I may have even went to get some parts when we used to work down there often.
WHERE WAS IT AT
Is that building in Van Born Rd. ?
Great video...sad but so much history!
heavy D love the show keep up the good work
I'd love to go pilfer thorough an old store like that. Looks like fun
I remember those Mom & Pop hardware stores back in the 1950's in my home town where you could buy everything from nuts and bolts to dynamite and firearms. Then big brother started regulating everything.
Regulating dynamite and firearms is a good thing.
In regards to the turbo Camaro....Mike almost chickened out, and asked the dealership to buy it back. I'm glad you he now appreciates the build! It's a kick ass car.
Dude i love this channel these guys are awesome
Allen is an absolute treasure of a man. Not a bad bone in his body.
I don’t how many times I’ve laughed at how goofy Allen is 🤣
It always cracks me up when they edit in all the advanced mathematical formulae and stuff when Allen is thinking about something. lolol
Cant stand his ass he just riding there coat tell
That's a beautiful truck. I am jealous. Used to be a trucker over here in UK - but that would catch eyes!! Trouble is we don't have enough room on English roads.
Heavy d keep up the good videos I watched Them all the time, Ken from Pennsylvania. God bless and be safe.
Well done Mr. Sparks. Detroit needs help!
Y’all finally came to my home state!! I feel like exploring the Upper Peninsula & the islands surrounding would make an awesome video. Abandoned buildings and endless sights
My mom's from Cali and moved to the Netherlands in her twenties where I grew up. She took me to the states a couple times and bought me my first machined catapult there, in a hardware store like this. I can smell the oils and paint just looking at this. What a vibe. I'm 32 now, hope these aren't all gone by the time I make it back to the states.
Awesome video, the truck, the Camaro, the store, the owner with Trump's accent haha, takes me right back to the 90s!
I Appreciate you guys. I Enjoy your videos.
If diesel dave gets hold of that empty bus he's gonna setup a newtons cradle of hammocks in it and terrorize utah. 😂😂😂
Buying for Alan and the mountain fortress again 🤣🤣 most of the stuff he would find a use for
I love seeing you guys. Awesome people.❤
Been binge watching you videos now for the last two weeks love every one. You have such a great team and Allan top guy :-) Allan love you work 👍 and the hole team thank you
Sad that stores like this are nearly extinct these are the kind of hardware stores that have all the weird tools and hardware that you would need that you can't find in stores like Home Depot and Lowes
Congratulations on the $462 worth of hardware for $10,000 investment! I'd do the same homie. Keep up the extreme variety of content. Theres a little bit of everything on this channel. Also, Allen's excitement on these missions is contagious.
hiya! i swear, your gang has the most fun! there was a hardware shop like that in my old detroit neighborhood. shame neighborhood stores are gone. while you were there did ya get a vernors or two? miss that drink.
Absolutely amazing!
🤣🤣🤣 You guys are like turning a bunch of children loose in a candy store!🤣🤣🤣
The lowboy trailer is a marvel of engineering in itself. It amazes me how much weight they can pick up.
I love big rigs. My pops drove all his life. You guys keep it rolling.
The value was in the adventure. ❤Love it!
I do not know why, but when the camera looked thru the peep hole I closed one eye.
Hans was off his bonce sniffin what ever it was lol...
Great video Sir. I bought a New 2003, W900L 86" bunk that was a purpose built Heavy Haul truck C-16 Cat. 18spd, 30-K front axle, 30-K Lift axle, 50-K 2spd Eaton Rear Ends 3:55/5:73 split. This Beautiful truck these guys are loaning you reminds me a lot of the one I had. This truck will be a great addition to your future videos and add a lot of great content to the channel. Keep doing what you do best brother, its working.
Great video thank you.
Polish folks are always cool :), you are doing a great job we are watching you from Poland. Greetings to the whole team!
In all my extensive travels around Europe, the people who stood out to me most were the Poles. They are a very beautiful people with a spirit and energy that it unique unto themselves. I have a great respect for Poland.
This shop is the dreamland of Dave
Love this channel!
Awesome RUclips videos. I remember seeing you all on discovery. Now I'm bendwatch lot of catching up. I haven't seen no dislike.
Man I've been waiting for you to Pop a video out.. thank God
That paint shaker needed some WD40...wonder where you could find some?
The truck is beautiful. What a task to empty the hardware store. Hope you found some goodies. Good luck
OMG! You can't be taken anywhere without supervision! What have you done!"? That hardware store is a daunting task. So glad it's you and not me. At least the can shaker is all you broke (smile). Hans was doing something I always wanted to do with the calculator paper and the video tape. And guys, please never ever grow up!
Allen is in heaven lol
I will never understand why you take Hans anywhere. Isn't there some locked facility you can keep him in?
He’s the personal assistant I think so he needs to be with him 🤔
He looks like hes checked out. Hair always looks greasy and unkempt and so unenthused.
Like a kennel 😅
Entertainment. They’d get board of hans wasnt there.
He sniffed to much of that container 😂😂
I actually worked at Trail King trailers for 3 years. Some of the best trailers. Love your videos
I would have reopened the hardware store with a in-house coffee shop. Then call it something cool like Dave & Dave Coffee😆 Great Channel! Trucker hats and tees flying out the door. Blue Mountain coffee from Jamaica is a must.
Your paint mixer needs to be sent to Ceero Gordo for a seperation table
The store was sad someone's whole life cleared to history in a day
Great job, an unknown purchase. I’ll take a set of drill bits. Thanks for keeping your videos FUN.
Heavy is true America!!!!! Love what u doing man 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
