The gorgeous singing of Jose Carreras makes this rendition of the great tenor aria from Verdi's Luisa Miller a truly great performance. Golden is the word that comes to mind to describe the singing of Carreras
Stupendo per voce e sentimento, davvero molto bello!!!!!!! ❤
Beautiful in all aspects. Beyond words. There was but one voice like his and how he could bring out the best of it. I can right pages about this topic. Thank you for sharing this piece of pure beauty with us.
If the 3 tenors concert would have taken place in the early 80's instead of the 90's, Carreras would have been the favorite!
Bravissimo! How beautiful, expressive and thrilling! I agree - few today (frankly can't name any off-hand) come close to Carrera's exceptional voice, artistry and natural gifts. He is truly blessed. But so are we; we can enjoy them!
Dono totale di corpo e anima, con emozione, espressione-pathos, emissione ed esecuzione perfette, sentimento.
Assolutamente CREDIBILE il suo Canto. Meraviglioso colore! Meraviglioso timbro!
Unico Josep Carreras❤
I simply love his timbre, his expression (in his voice). I love the three on them. Each one has something special. Love Carreras singing this aria. Just beautiful!
The best ever. Listen to those Legato's and his voice!
Carreras was at his best!!!!!A pleasure to hear him, nothing left to be desired!!!!I think he was verdi's best!!!!!
Wow, wow! This is beauty.
This is just incredible singing
Carreras is great here. Those years were golden for his singing.
Incredible legato, beautiful colours, and full of heart!
Pity we cannot see a thing. The singing is splendid, Jose Carreras at his best. Everything he has sung in this period has set an ultimate standard for tenor singing.
Oh, he had loads to offer for those who listen. Amazing phrasing, beautiful pianissimi, sincerity...Even Jürgen Kesting, one of his most severe detractors, agrees that young José Carreras was exceptional. The lyric beauty of the timbre, the sincerity, the colors in his voice....better ten good years (I.E. Callas) than 40 years of sterile perfection.
Carreras' best years. Such a joy !!!
Mi piace CARRERAS. Tenore di temperamento ,, interprete coinvolgente!!!!!!!bravo MRI
When you were in the room with this voice it was like liquid honey dripping down. His committment and color were enough for me. Wish more people of this age could find it in themselves to even try to compare.
Love him!
bravo!!fenomenal!!!
great performance, thank you for sharing this
Credo che sia stata la più bella inerpretazione di questa romanza. Certo, senza togliere nulla agli alti. Roberto
Que voz y que sentimiento,, el mejor de los interpretes seguido de Placido Domingo
Bravoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perfección...Alta calidad...Bravo!!
Wow, this is more than just a nice performance... It's passionate Verdi at its best, especially the ending... The acting is not very dramatically revealing, but this is not necessary when such passionate expression is found in the voice...
Muy buena interpretacion, Bravo Carreras
i like this aria - if sung by Jose :-)))
If you don't like him, why keep watching his vids? There are loads of other tenors to enjoy.
Very well done. I was also struck by how slow the tempo was. I've never heard it so slow.
superbe
response to the inquisitore (or something like that): if you had attempted to sing this aria on a major opera theatre and the whole role, you would realize that you sing how you were tought, first and how you can, second. Carreras was tought this technique and served him to make an oustanding 'carriera".
He had enough possitive aspects to make me have goose bumps when I heard him here. Perfect? No. Artistic? You bet!!
The both were great. I like Carreras more because he had more passion in his singing
Truly beautiful. Agree with libro07 -perhaps the best.
Una voz muy bella en sus años juveniles, pero le pasa como a Placido, lo basan todo en la potencia y de matizar poquito.
kind of agree with you....he had such a great voice though...it's too bad he had to push :( still sounds awesome though :)
as Luciano said, a significant voice usually comes with a significant body. He had more "body" and subsequently more voice. Also, Luciano was blessed with not so many brains.
Anybody know where I can find English Lyrics for this Aria?
I thought this was wonderful, he has a rich powerful voice - only complaint is that the video is rather dark and I can't see his handsome face ;-)
I simply disagree with you. While I agree with the timeline you have set forth, I don't think you appreciate the beauty of this voice. In addition his early high notes were not feeble, they were explosive. It was a course not dissimilar to Di Stefano. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him as "nothing exceptional" The unique beauty of his early singing has given me much joy, more than some "exceptional" artists. It is your right not to like him, but you may perhaps respect him.
Somitimes I think, that Carreras was the most talented amongst the three...
Come cantava bene!!
