Yeah like everybody increasingly blames Jon for every little shit and nobody, not even Martin, points out how ridiculous and unfair that is. I cannot get the image of the MOnty Python skit where Lancelot asks the imprisoned prince for his story and all the servants begin a song about how the prince is GOING to tell his story and his wicked father bursts in and demands the story NOT HAVE A CHORUS.
I'm starting to realise that there is only one braincell in the archives and it got lost in the post when Elias was sending statements to Jon.
Elias has all of the brain cells, but he doesn't use them. I think he just likes to hoard them.

One thing i like about The Corruption is that theres like a subtheme of toxic relationships.
I feel like it is the least bad of all of the main baddies. Does that make sense?
@@Catglittercrafts I feel like The End is the least vindictive. Theres a malicious undercurrent of The Corruption; coating yourself in friendship doesn't change that.
@@mimkyodar It's interesting how The Corruption and The End, at least in how they manifest, are at such opposite poles. The End is about the cessation of life, while The Corruption is about the abundance (one may argue the overabundance) of life, crawling and squirming though it is. While The End is not vindictive as such, if it came to a situation in which only one of these powers could win, I'd have to side with The Corruption. I choose life over death and nullity, even if the only life possible comes in the form of a tsunami of ever-loving bugs. Benoît seems to have found some form of existential joy before the servants of The Eye put a stop to it.
@@mimkyodar Yes. Jane Prentiss was a lonely woman who was mentally abused into loving being involuntarily turned into a breeding machine for The Filth. It was implied thats also why the old folks home was hit, lonely people who miss company. The man who was targeted after his wife and daughter died echoes con artists who prey on the bereaved. The avatar who was a soldier used compassion as a disguise to sucker others close to him so he could infect them.
Not every entity needs to hurt your heart to make you afraid; but the Corruption does it as a matter of course.
Am I the only one who thinks that we maybe SHOULDN'T set Benoit's house on fire and let them live? He has all he wants, he's finally in a happy relationship, he finally got a resolution to his life. Bit of Desolation going there, mister.

I love how instead of getting excited when he shows improvement in his powers, Jon gets scared and denies it because he's terrified of not being human anymore and his powers getting stronger is just further proof that he isn't

Elias Bouchard is such, SUCH a great villain! On my first listen I totally bought into his "explanations" to his employees, every. single. time. And I was like - why is stupid Melanie so keen on killing this polite man with an authoritative voice? So unreasonable and messy! Why is Jon screaming at him? His boss just wants to save the world, so generous of him! Now I finally understand why Melanie is so mad, if she feels she's the only one who sees through Elias's bullshit. Elias is the ultimate villain! So cool! And he lets us call him Elias!

the Corruption is my second favorite entity because of this secondary fear it carries with it - abandonment, almost to the point of bordering on the Lonely. prentiss and the man who lost his daughter and wife also experience it, and those are some of my favorite episodes. its absolutely fascinating, i love (love being also a word for being terrified of here) the idea of being so dreadfully alone that u combat it by letting all these things into your body
