      @@Atirunfi I am all for adequate compensation to be paid to employees of CN and CPKC but also that working conditions are such that employees can get proper rest. That should include, for shift workers, no less than 36 hours’ notice of the start time of the next shift particularly if the job is safety-critical.

      You won’t be complaining when these strikes have a direct impact on your life 😂
      Freight trains is part of what keeps supplies and this country running. If you are employed in an occupation deemed essential, it will say something along those lines in the contract. You are also required to know your rights as a worker. Being ordered back to work to keep supplies moving across the country is a valid justification, notwithstanding the legality of it all.

      Trudeau did not win enough seats last election and counts on Jagmeet to prop up his government. Jagmeet can pull that support (non confidence vote) forcing an election

    The Canadian Supreme Court has ruled that the right to strike is a constitutional right !
    What will happen if the union makes an appeal to the Court, claiming that the Canadian Labour Board order is unconstitutional ?
    What will happen if the Court rules that Canadian Labour Board is unconstitutional based on the Supreme Court ruling ?

    They tried to do this with the teachers too. We should be outraged at every anti-union government/corporate bully on behalf of each other and all unions, not just the one we work for.

      I AM outraged & have been for the best part of my life! And have laboured, mostly as a volunteer but also as a union rep, against corporate bullying (supported by politicians for their own benefit), all my working life.

    All politicians should learn from Lee Kuan Yu of Singapore when all their pilots threaten to paralyzed their entire airport. He resolved it quickly. How?
    He told the pilots they either went back to the table to talk or he would get rid of them all. Sure the airport will be paralyzed for awhille but he will get it back up, he will train and find new pilots and when the airport goes back in operation, he will make sure none of them are in it. All the pilots went back, talks resumed, and crisis averted.

    These workers have been without a binding collective agreement since January 2024. It's an unfortunate situation for union workers & management. I would think this has impacted morale all around.

    Wages are main issue not safety. Who strikes in a downturn? Hurting alll Canadians especially farmers is selfish putting the pressure on at this crucial time was a power play to put pressure on. When workers get replaced then complain.
