    Great video thanks for taking the time to post. It’s criminal the cost of repairs this useless part must be responsible for

    I had exactly the same issues with my Grant Mag One filter. Visually it looks identical yours so it's probably just rebagdged. Brilliant video and thanks for taking the time to share it.

    Thanks man. This video and advice helped me so much. It took a few attempts and scratching of head and I had to double the rubbers. Fingers crossed I just bathed the dog and had a shower. You legend!

    Ha, I've had the exact same issue with mine. The magnets are supposed to be completely dry. In my unit, they're rusted so badly that none come out at all. My temporary fix has been to dry the top out and fill it with silicone until I have time to replace the whole unit.

    Hi,
    have you managed to get another filter" brand" as an easy swap, without changing the pipe work?

      Sorry for the late reply, hope you found something and got it fixed.

    Hi there! So glad i find this video....I have the same eco mag filter, and it was all boxed in....only discovered yesterday that the old boiler cupboard which is now my wardrobe is full o black mold! So been cleaning that all out yesterday :-( My eco mag was also covered in corroded brown metallic goo....it's only leaking ever so slightly. So, my question is are you qualified plumber and is this something I can fix myself? Don't really want people in to fix it :-( Did you find a good replacement for it? Gas here....but judging by your vid all i need to do is turn off both taps and swap it out?

      I'm not a plumber but have a very practical mechanical background, with vehicles,water craft, plumbing my house and others. I just dont do anything with boilers. Pipes are easy. It is straight swap out. I put a boiler m8 in @ £47. You do need to change the piece between the two valves too (filter mount thread is different) so use the one supplied. The top and bottom valves dont need changing. Just turning off while you change it but yes it's easy. Just make sure all new seals that are supplied get put in the unions.
      Bleed the air out with the little screw on top once youve opened the top n bottom valves and you done. Good luck.

      @@MrBrynbryndt Many thanks for that! Sounds like you have a lot more experience than I, but yep does sound easy. I think I can get a good deal on a Fernox TF1 Omega, which is what I am looking at. It doesn't come with valves though and I want to be sure I won't have a compatibility issue. If you google it for an image you will see that unit comes with flat faces for rubber washers. Is the Instant Eco unit the same, or are they round? That's my only worry atm...

      @@MrBrynbryndt Finally managed to get it, but ill with covid atm now :-( Seems to be missing the trigger mechanism for injecting the chemicals from underneath, is it rue you just pour chemicals in at the top?

    What size O ring? Was it a standard O ring ?

    • @MrBrynbryndt
      @MrBrynbryndt  2 года назад +1

      It was just one that fits tight over the thread of the magnet probe as you push it to the bottom. Then just no it down. Its a temporary fix. Would last ages if sealed well. I just didnt want my magnets getting rusty and plastic being brittle. knowing it's got a leak makes me change it.

    More trouble than they are worth. Delete it if you can, if you can stop the leak and ignore that it's there just ignore the piece of crap engineering.
