A giant thank you! Once again your videos came to the rescue. I have a pattern using Kitchener for a 3 x 1 rib. The video gave me a visual assist but the written instructions were the key to accomplishing the task.
This was so helpful. Especially the written instructions. I’m doing a 5x5 rib Kitchener stitch from a provisional cast on while holding 3 strands together. I put it off for 3 weeks until I could wrap my head around it without screwing it up.
Thank you so much. I have not been happy with my results of grafting 2 x 2 rib. I thought it was just me, but I had been doing it as if it were stockinette. I am looking forward to trying this.
To work this in 1x1 rib, just eliminate the first "front needle/back needle" instructions under the Knit Stitches/Purl stitches headers, and only work the second "front needle/back needle" instructions. In other words, each knit or purl stitch you do is setting up for the next stitch. Hope that helps!
I used this technique for the first time in my knitting on a 3 x 3 rib and it turned out really nice! Thank you for sharing this video, it was very helpful! 😀
Thank you so much! I was grafting irregular ribbing on side panels of a sweater I needed to lengthen, and this was immensely helpful.

Thank you for this video. I just did a seamless raglan sweater in a 2x2 rib and this was exactly what I needed to graft the underarms. This is not the first video I've seen of yours that I found useful, but I do want to thank you so much for putting these videos up!
Thank you so much! I needed this for my Yggdrasil Blanket. I couldn't wrap my head around grafting the cable braid together. This saved me! Again thank you so much.
Raymond - I don't have a video on that...but I'm thinking that it would be the same technique as this. Give it a try, and if your grafted stitches are clearly upside-down, turn your work and try it that way instead. I haven't tested it myself, but I've played it out in my mind, and I think that will work. :)
Well I thought I followed these instructions adapting for a wider rib than 2x2 with your instructions on how the back needle sets up the change.... So I was doing a wide rib and the front looks beautiful! But the reverse side clearly looks like a wrong side! Did I do something wrong? Do both front and back of your instructions look identical?
Useful demo and notes. Please be aware though that this doesn’t make an invisible graft on both sides of the fabric - one side will have purl bumps. This is fine if your graft is only ever viewed from one side, but in the case of a shawl collar that folds over and has both sides visible, it makes for difficult decision-making.
First of all, thank you so much - great video, as always. My question is how do I adjust the set up and/or first steps if the first stitch in the pattern is supposed to be slipped off instead of KNIT or PURL??? I'm stuck at this very first step :(
If I was to use my working yarn for this instead of using a separate piece of yarn, would I still have to do the two "set up" stitches? Or could I just go right into the knit off purl? Love your videos! I'm a self taught knitter and whenever I get stuck I check your channel and you always have a video with the answers. You are amazing! :)
You would need to start your work with a provisional cast-on for that. For more info, watch my video called "Knitting Help - Provisional Cast-On". Otherwise (if you're past that and almost finished with the project), you can just bind off and seam. Good luck!
Just below the video, you'll see a short description. Just below that, you'll see "show more". Click "show more", and you'll see the full video description, including instructions for this stitch for both knit and purl stitches.
I am really in need of 1x1 rib Kitchener stitch! I have tried to follow the other videos by other demonstrators/teachers, but they are just to convoluted for me! PLEASE HELP!
It was terrible. I printed the instructions and had someone helped me reading them to me and checked every step. The example started with 2 knits and so did my piece. It was wrong from the beginning, one stitch placed ahead, so everything was awful and it was very difficult to unravel. Never again.
I just gave this a try on an infinity scarf and it did not work out well. :-( I should probably have practiced first on a smaller piece, but it's done now... The recipient will simply have to forgive my errors. It really is not seamless at all.
Thanks VeryPink Knits I'll keep working on it. But is there any way I can undo the damage I've done on my scarf and try again? I'm afraid that I'll be losing stitches left and right. (I'm not at the advanced level of knitting like I've seen some ladies who can practically perform surgery on some of these things.)
It's careful work, but you can pull out the grafting, and pick up each stitch as it becomes live again. If you really need one-on-one help, you can drive to your local yarn shop, where folks are usually willing to give another knitter a hand!
VeryPink Knits I am so embarrassed to say this, but coming back to this tonight and looking at both the written instructions AND the video, I realized I was doing it all wrong last night. :( Thankfully, my gift recipient is very forgiving and understanding and is just thrilled to have a handmade scarf. But I successfully did it correctly on a couple of swatches I made. It does work! All the instructions are right! The teacher, though, can only be as good as the student is willing to listen. ;-)

I wish I had know this for the many cabled things I have grafted together!! Now I will ALWAYS have perfect grafting, no matter what!! Thanks, Staci!!

Wish I could see it demonstrated!! Thank you!
Thank you I was looking for this specifically 🙏
@@kareno800 did you figure out how to do the 1×1 graft?
Thank you for this extremely useful video. Grafting rib well is vital to a finished garment

Thanks! Exactly what I needed to repair a hole in a sweater, which is btw a paid job.

Oh! I just found this after asking you about it. I hope this will help me out!

Yes, if you want the seam to be flat on both sides, you'll want to use the Bickford Seam: ruclips.net/video/KL2l_J3i8-I/видео.html

Thanks for the great video. This was very scary, until now, lol.
I'm using this to join two sides of a round. Would i need to use the setup st?
do you have instructions for working this on a 1x1 rib?
if so, where would i find this grafting on a 1 x 1 rib
How would you graft rib stitches from live stitches on the needle to the cast on edge?
Can you demostrate a video on a 1 x 1 ribbing instead please
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you very much :-)

Is it possible to do Kitchener onto a 2 x 2 rib on the casting edge of a finished piece?
Am I reading this wrong? directions say the same whether it is for a knit stitch or a purl stitch.
How would I change this up for a 1x1 rib stitch?
How would you set up if your first stitches are purl?
Perfect! As usual :)
Pls do how to rib stitch
Where are the written directions for this? I can't find them anywhere
I wasn't able to get this to work when following your written instructions? Has anyone else had this problem?

It may take some practice, but I assure you, it works!

Very good, Jane. Glad you figured it out! :)

This was very helpful. Anyone else find her black nails a little distracting? Just kidding, it's a great video :)
