In this game, there are two people with hammers, and they pull up signs with a random number on it. The person who holds up the higher number will be able to hit the other person (however, the person with the lower number can dodge the attack before you hit, so don't take too long.) If you have a low number and you try to whack the person that has a higher number with a hammer, you will penalize yourself by giving the other player more points. The first player to reach 99 points wins (regardless if it's you or the other player, the game will end.) In Game A, you are the man on the right, and you fight a CPU player on the left. But in Game B, it is a 2 player version of Game A.
(Note: There are two versions of Judge, green and purple. The one you are seeing now is the green version, which has a bug in the 2 player (Game B) mode. If the left player dodged with the higher number than the right, the right player would receive 1 points. However, if the right player dodged with a higher number than the left, the left player would receive 2 points. This gave the right player a disadvantage. This was fixed in a later release under a purple version. This bug was likely found before the game was internationally released, as the green version was only released in Japan. The purple version has been dumped and a video of it is here: • Game & Watch: Judge (P... )
10:48 You know you're getting sent to the blast zone once your hit with a 9.
And it feels satisfying when you hit a 9
excellent Tech ...1980...4 bit CPU and LCD ....state of the Art ! and today I have the PS4 , Nintendo switch & the whole shebang ...You name it BUT this is Price Less !
And that's his side special
It took me a while to figure out why it makes certain sounds when it does
"Bonk"=you got hit with the hammer (after not doing anything, or hitting at the wrong time)
"Beep"=you did the wrong thing
"CLELELELELE"=you did the right thing
It seemed inconsistent at first
If you ever seen Mr Game & Watch in Smash Bros, whenever he gets a 9 on his side B, he makes the same *Clelelelele* sound.
@@old80s59 I have noticed that, it's a fantastic detail. Releasing fully charged Oil Panic makes the same sound for some reason (perhaps just for style?)
I actually play Smash Bros. very often and main G&W!
Nice!
Oh it’s you
Making a mockery of the legal system long before Ace Attorney.
So simple, yet so funny!
Didn’t know this even existed until today, and knowing it’s from 1980 it’s even better!!!
Great!!! 👍🏻
The beginning is also funny
One of the best Game & Watches, and certainly the most fun multiplayer G&W. Wish this was brought to the Switch.
The funny move from smash
This is too violent. I’m going back to doom eternal
4:46 nice
Yo where are the 9's at?
My favorite game in the series
It's Mr Game and wacth
And this one was his left-B or right-B attack. the number is random so it's based on luck Either way.
1 is the weakest attack and 9 is the strongest.
@@old80s59 that is true. 1 does nothing but 9 is crazy!
10:48 *finish zoom*
*GAME!*
(Cheering)
is there a dump for purple judge? wondering because i think you've only done a video for green... also why does nintendo always use a green border for their rereleases for this game if the purple one came out later with a fix :v
As of now there's still no dump for purple Judge. I have no idea why they used the green version as the border though.
@@old80s59 do you know of any dumping methods for game and watch games? I happen to have recently acquired purple judge
@@mindnomad The only known way to dump G&W games and that is to take apart the system. And I believe you'll need some kind of rom dumper to dump the MCU inside the system by having it read the rom (you can also decap the MCU to dump it that way but that will likely completely destroy the system). There's also digitizing and retracing the graphics into an SVG file, though it's unnecessary since green and purple Judge likely share the same graphics.
@@old80s59 I'd like to be able to dump judge purple if it hasn't been done already, but I'm not sure how to go about actually dumping the MCU heh... Would you happen to know any community I can go to for this?
@@mindnomad You can try talking to algestam on Twitter and let him know you have it, or you can try going on this thread: forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=97003&page=380 which seems to be about the progress of dumping LCDs including Game & Watch.
Wow
Dude you're doing good
does anyone know how this game works I’m so confused rn
How did you learn how to play this
I’ll think this is how it works:
When the timer runs out, both players pull out a random number. If you have a higher number, you can hit the other player and get a point, if the other player has a higher number, you can dodge the attack, hit them, which will give them a point because they will be able to hit you, or the other player will hit you. If not he players have the same number, it’s all about your reaction, whoever hits first gets a point.
I think that’s how you play (I’m not good at explaining things)
Thanks
is it a matter of timing how the hell do you play this
You have to hit the person on the left if you have the higher number, but dodge away if you have the lower number in order to earn points. If you have the lower number and hit them or have the higher number and dodge, the opposing player will get points. The first player to 99 points wins the game.
@@old80s59 What if you have the same number?
@@prestonandtom9337 both sides should try to hit eachother
Your good
do you know what the control setup is in MAME? i only have the dodge button working.
does O in gnw_judgeo stands for original?
Esse jogo PC mame game & watch
What about 10 or 20?
which one are u
The right one.
I was thinking that you were left but you are right.
@@anairysmilian9499 me too
@@anairysmilian9499 The first time I played this on G&W Gallery 3, I thought the same thing. I thought I was on the left, but I was on the right. It such a surreal experience and it almost makes me wonder if Nintendo meant for it to be this way or if they screwed up and accidentally programmed the game backwards or something.
