Thanks for the tips and tricks! I work as an architect and relatively new in terms of playing ark. I found it hard to make cool designs in ark and knew something was missing. These tips and tricks definitely showed me that there was a lot more to the game mechanics than I had come to realize. You have gained a new subscriber here. Man it's funny I've played since open beta but just now taking the time to understanding building. Exactly the info I was looking for! Edit: So messing with the pillars. If you stack them 2+ high you can increase foundation height as well.
Love the variety in the building and particular focus on moving snapoints. Providing several ways to do the multi-layer wall design is probably going to save someone's tames in the near future. Great videos as always.

Aaron: I've watched a LOT of Ark videos lately but yours are the only ones to truly TEACH me how to build. I'm playing on Xbox & it's been truly great picking up all your tips. I'm wondering, is there an easy way or trick for positioning the lower pillar when building? I know the trick to get flush pillars is to build one in the middle, then put one at the 'lower' snap point from there. But when the ground is close by, finding that lower snap point has been (for me) EXTREMELY difficult/annoying.

My self and friends love your passion for building and we copied your Red Wood tree top house and another medium house on The Centre. We normally just build our own rubbish buildings but thought we would go fancy on this map. We still don't get how you figure all this out and plan ahead, just mind boggling but amazing how you do it.
I imagine you could make a really funny PVP base using that triple wall technique, somebody walks up thinking they're about to get easy loot, then they bust the crust off the outside and it's all solid metal

Your voice is really quiet and relaxing which I love but I find myself turning the video up and down often. I dunno if I’m alone in that though. Just an idea. (:
now, this is why i think the game is alive, the pve stuff obviously in pvp terms it's more disbalanced than ever, but i personally don't like to play that anymore on pve, on the other hand, you always have something to do explore the map, talk with the people that plays on the same server, do the caves, fight the bosses, and even do some funny roleplay with your mates, plus, the capability some people has to build their own structures, it's impressive
@@AaronLongstaff Yes.. Sorry, is a mod, not a mode.. Allows you to make a copy of any building and furnitures inside, and saves it on your pc and then you can upload those files. Then anyone could download, and will appear a new engram in the character to learn (for each saved file), the rest is just place the builder in the ground and fill it with all the materials that the building require. ps: sorry for my bad english xD
I have a good building trick for you. It adds a lot of depth to windows. 1.Place fence foundation on foundation. 2.Place a stone doorframe on the snap point to the side of the foundation (it will be hanging of the edge of the foundation slightly) 3.Place Greenhouse single door in the stone doorframe 4.Place a greenhouse wall on the center of the fence foundation. This will break the stone doorframe and leave the greenhouse door. This adds a lot of depth to the greenhouse wall and looks better than just a greenhouse doorframe and door. Like so Aaron can see.
I built the step pyramid that is in the thumbnail. I added a dino gate to the back and modified the interior a little. It's a good size for a solo player.
Love mine craft but this takes it to a more realistic level. Trying to build a castle ATM. I'm a defo newbie ya stuff's awesome bet ya took ages to get this good. Alot to learn myself

Hey dude i was wondering, basically i started building a wooden house with an upstairs, with different rooms, when i put on the doors they wont snap in place correctly, its also the same for some of the walls and they tend to stick out and look quite jaggid. Can you please explain to me what im doing wrong as they is so disheartening 😢

I hope you find time to read your comments, I got one request or idea for you for your next video, something that's currently bothering me in my build. It's trapdoors and ladders. I can't seems to access the ladder if i put a trapdoor on a hatchframe, so I can never go down without jumping in a hole and try to grab ladder while falling. Do you have any ideas to fix this issues without too much struggle? Currently i'm forced to either have no trapdoor or i place a secondary hatchframe one wall down with trapdoor there that i can open/close while i climb. But it leaves a hole up top and it looks stupid. I want a nice trapdoor on floor of my room not a random hole. I hope you can find time to reply, and keep up the good work! Cheers, NKA17

I know I’m kind of a nobody but I do have a little bit of a trick for ceilings and foundations if you’re interested in seeing if I could send you a video if you would like. I think it would help some people out when it comes to getting a ceiling piece level with a foundation.

@December_Mist Yeah it’s extremely annoying that they snap to foundations the way that they do because they leave a lip and a small gap. It actually bugged me so much that I’ve been trying to find a way for quite some time to lower that snap point and I’ve probably spent a little too much time or better yet a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure this out. Funny thing is is it was actually an extremely easy method for lowering the start point. I felt pretty stupid when I found out what you needed to do to get them level lol 😅
For the life of me, I can't get some of these techniques to work. Do S+ Items not work for some of these techniques? Especially the ones that use a bunch of different snap points?
I'd of loved to play this online. I got 2 kids so simply don't have enough time to guard my shit on the game 24/7 and could find a good tribe. Or a decent anyone
there are non hostile servers called pve :players vs environment where its more about you vs the wild as opposed to other players ..if you find an unofficial server its even better because the community is usually friendly and hlepful and you can just breed your dinos fight bosses and not have to worry about losing your hard work..ark has an official discord and you can find servers in there...good luck man..hope you get some time for your self!

You should save all your buildings with the save structure mode and make like a workshop with your amazing work!!

We used to use that layered wall technique to make our base crazy hard to raid on pvp

I have a good building trick for you. It adds a lot of depth to windows.
1.Place fence foundation on foundation.
2.Place a stone doorframe on the snap point to the side of the foundation (it will be hanging of the edge of the foundation slightly)

rugs? ive not been playing long but im guessing some of the decorations are only available through mods or custom content? no in game?
