I'm only 24 minutes in and this is already one of the most enjoyable vids I've been fortunate to come across. The museum has been added to my bucket list, and I look forward to it soon as it's less than 500 miles away. Would make a very worthy, and incredibly beautiful motorcycle trip :)
Christopher Springmann is the photographer who created the opening image of Georgia O'Keeffe, taken in 1974 at her Abiquiú home, under the Alexander Calder mobile. This photograph also appears in "Georgia O'Keeffe and Her Houses," published by the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A photo credit is given at 1:09:18 of this program - thank you!
Im an artist and live in the desert. I relate and understand her want to be immersed in the beauty around her. When your outside, the landscape consumes you and the experience is addicting. Placing those windows helps create the same experience within the home. I love how she could see the beauty in it all. Her excitement of exploring the landscape around her is childlike, collecting bones etc. She is very inspiring in the sense she captured her experience and was able to express it and share that with the world.
Beautiful presentation! I was born in Albuquerque in Oct. 1969. I lived in Old Town as a child, and though we moved to Utah when I was 10 the colors of adobe, wood, sage brush, and the Sandia Mountains marked my since of style and esthetics for life. I have a theory that the colors and esthetics that surround us as babies and as we grow stay with us for life and inspire us in ways we may not always recognize, but our souls remember. I think Georgia O'Keeffe marked the soul of New Mexico with her colors and esthetics, and New Mexico was a place her soul remembered.
Loved your inside to this great artist embracing through art her environment, nature and imagination, she climbed many mountains to conquer the feeling of completeness and freedom❤️🧑🎨
This was a beautiful and human presentation of an American Icon~I have adored since I became aware of her, as a very young child, in the 70’s. Thank you-this was absolutely lovely.
Thanks . Although I knew a little bit about both houses, your explanations gave me more knowledge and comprehension about her way of living, how meticulous she was, so aware of what she needs and the importance of her space. Her studio and views were sacred. How dare someone could get inside. Her voice did not tremble to tell her, if that happen again, she won’t be able to visit anymore. Her paintings are beautiful, so was the way she arranged her furniture. Few pieces, but modern, great for the ambiance of the house. Hope to listen to further lectures. A pleasure!
The day I went to Georgia's home I was surprised by all the dust that seemed to be everywhere. I stopped across from her place at a gas station making sure I was at the right place. Strange to say, every photo I took that day came out black, nothing. I was told she was staying at her other home and I went there only to find her gone.
Sorry, I couldn't hack it. After over 8 minutes of intro, sponsorship citations and some lass, "ushing," about what Georgia O'Keeffe meant to...ME, I went looking for something less, "cluttered."
Like every other filmed lecture we see, this is just a dim shot of a talking head in the far distance for fifteen minutes with the speaker blah blah blahing before we ever see a photo of what she's talking about, which is the visual images we came to see. By then she's lost half her listeners. These academics know nothing about film or documentary or drama or how to create a story and hold an audience.

What a treasure Carolyn Kastner is - brought this famous artist to life 🙏🏽
What a great presentation, thank you!
Wonderful. Georgia’s aesthetic has “filled my space in a beautiful way” since a young age.
Wonderful presentation..thank you!
A fascinating life, no doubt.
Thank you! I enjoyed learning more about her life at home & all she did to make those houses her own. I love her life's story & all her art. 💓
I loved this! Thanks for the wonderful presentation. 😊
Dr. Dr. Kastner
Thank you for your inspiring lecture, enhancing what we know of the complex, highly talented O’Keeffe.
Thank you for presenting such a fascinating look at Georgia's homes and artistic life. So inspiring!

What is the website with photis of okeeffe rafting?
It would be interesting to find out if Georgia or Ida, her sister, was first experimenting with abstraction or if they were doing it simultaneously.
O'Keefe exemplified American exceptionalism - something that is frowned upon now.
Like spelling her name correctly
Porque no ponen en primer plano las imágenes?

Interesting there's no ASL present?

What is the name of the book the art historian refers to?
Sorry, I couldn't hack it.

That’s why you can fast forward past the intro.

It is said that Stieglitz NEVER ONCE visited new mexico.....?

Be nice, it’s the future

You'd have to be easily impressed to appreciate this basic aesthetic.
