Black Ops 1 absolutely was the best plot twist. You never actually see him die when you escape Vorkuta. He's fighting alongside you throughout the campaign & there isn't much hints other the the numbers in the interrogation scenes & the cutscenes which you don't notice your first play through. Huge revelation that he was dead the entire time.
Neither Activision or IW ever confirmed it. It was the leakers who got confused by the fact that the next Treyarch game was coming in 2024. Before SHG backed out of what became Cold War, the dev cycle was always IW, SHG, and then Treyarch. Because SHG backed out of Cold War due to creative differences with Raven, Treyarch took over and SHG ended up with the time to make the POS known as Vanguard. Because the cycle was messed up and both Treyarch and SHG changed places one time, they automatically assumed that MWII was a 2 year game.
Hearing that a NEST team was sent to the source to disarm the nuke and then seeing a massive firey mushroom cloud is so impactful. That team was so close but they get eviscerated for their bravado.
I've always been so suspicious of Reznov when he appeared after the escape in Vorkuta when I can shoot through him and knife him without actually getting a game over screen. Also his color is different in some missions just like the one in the boats with guns and in the rat tunnels in Vietnam. I was surprised by the ending too.

I am wondering if Infinity Ward is still willing to finish the Ghosts story under a new title as a campaign or a short cinematic. My personal favorite plot twist is discovering the fact that Yuri was present during important events in both COD4 and MW2, he appeared out of nowhere in MW3, and yet he turns out to be the missing piece that connected everything together in the whole trilogy. I also want to give credit to Raven for the incredible and well-written plot twist that they made for Black Ops Cold War, despite only having a year and a half for remaking the campaign into a Black Ops story. They've done a fair BO campaign that managed to live up to BO1 & 2
Currently the rumor is that CoD 2023 by SHG is MWIII. I don't buy it, but if it's the case than IW could be stepping back from the MW franchise for a change. Meaning they could make a Ghosts 2. Anything's possible.

Whats better about Reznov is that in the missions where he is an illusion aka all of them except Vorkuta you can just casually shoot through him and there's no blood no animation no game over screen saying don't shoot friendlies which makes it funny when you do shoot him lol

something i realized about bo1 is that when ur with reznov u can hear the numbers but most of the time they are very faint and hard to hear but if you heard them you would realize to urself that reznov is fake becuase the numbers symbolize a pattern to make u forget that reznov is fake and why u hear it when reznov is around so u dont think he is fake and that ur not brainwashed
Black Ops 1 was a very well done psychological thriller once they revealed the plot twist, which even continued into the ending film reel. Heck even though it is outside of the campaign World at War may be the top twist of introducing Nazi Zombie.

It was some random traveller that saved them. Mason hallucinated that it was Reznov.
That's a huge plot hole in BO2 tbh. But in BO1 it was either nobody or Mason being Reznov in his mind (as evident in some of the cutscenes)
