    Apple realized that the business model of the fitness industry where most customers pay for a membership and then never show up is something they could get on board with too.

    Wow, why is everyone so negative about it? Everybody knows there’re free to watch workout videos on RUclips. But the time and energy invested to find the right ones with best qualities and desired duration are what flinch everyone from doing it. Plus, with the integration of Apple Watch and the ability to display your biometric data on the big screen keep you focused on workout per se.

    I don't see why this needs to be a separate app with its own unique subscription. The watch is a device that's marginally useful for working out, but it doesn't need to be on the screen because it's already on your wrist. This should just be a channel in Apple TV+, it doesn't need to be a separate app and subscription. It just seems like a really cheap way to charge you extra money for what is basically just a video with superimposed watch information that's already on your wrist. I don't think its a bad product but I don't see it being worth the subscription. It would be better as a value-add to an Apple TV+ subscription.

  • @arkman117
    @arkman117 4 года назад +4

    Fitness+ is a no go, it has no ability to mute music so your stuck with the terrible choices that are probably permanently baked into the workouts, so unless you wanna mute the whole thing you won’t be enjoying the music unless you just don’t care, and you must have the new version of Apple TV otherwise your gonna be watching it on a small screen, it is not compatible with airplay you will get sound but no video, there’s no way to mirror it so don’t bother, these 2 things alone will be a hard pass for many users, a shame and a huge missed opportunity.

    Thank you for a thorough review. It’s been comical watching other tech channels review the new fitness feature by people who never workout nor have any idea of how to evaluate effective workouts. I just think the Apple watch is a lot less useful than people realize. When you've been working out long enough, you don't need to measure your heartbeat regularly because you already know the intensity level that you need to hit, you already know what time your workout starts and when it ends. This information isn't even all that useful for beginners either because beginners should start at very low intensity. A case could be made for those people who are learning to hit higher intensity workouts, but that being said, is it really worth the cost of an Apple watch just to measure your heartbeat? It's seems like a very expensive way of accomplishing something that people have accomplished with a cheap digital watch and putting their fingers to their neck to count their pulse.
      The value of the Apple fitness subscription is to take the watch information and put it on the screen.... Any other value can be had for free, from the countless workout video's available on RUclips and elsewhere on the internet. It really boggles my mind how people see this as a valuable product when it's actually just a way to get you to buy a very expensive device and a relatively expensive subscription. It feels really close to exploitation. It's very transparent to me, I don't see why so many people fall for it.

I walk 4+ miles a day and finish my day either with resistance training or HIIT with a book I follow. But there are days where I can’t walk, so I use Fitness+ to do their Yoga videos and I thoroughly enjoy them.
      I have only done the Yoga and Mindful Cooldown sections of this service, but I found both so useful for someone who needs a bit of motivation to work out. the instructors are friendly and I feel very motivated by them! I personally like Dustin and Jessica and I can’t wait to try out more modes of this service. It has helped me feel energized, which is why I wanted to work out in the first place. With weight loss, I definitely have seen improvement as well.

Mostly I think it costs absolutly nothing to get you startet. pull out a matt and lets go. Apple Fitness might not be special in any way. It‘s just that I hated the gym everytime I tried it and now I can really look forward to a 45 minute yoga session on a friday after work or the 30 minute hiit sweat at the start of a new week.

    Really like the workouts - but REALLY disappointed that Apple is making us purchase an Apple TV to stream to TV set in workout room. Purchased the watch and the subscription but iphone too small to really see the workouts. Now to see on bigger screen I need to purchase either an ipad (then only on iPad screen size) or an Apple TV (newer version) to stream to a large enough TV set. Seems like a money grab from Apple!! BTW - Apple does let you see the 'Previews' on the larger stream through an Apple HDMI adapter, but cuts the video as soon as you start the actual workout.

    I'm enjoying the beginner classes for now with 3 levels of activity shown. Some I can do the higher levels, some the lower. Love the shorter workout times, 20 or 30 minutes. A person can just stop at any time during the day and follow one. Love the cooldowns as well. The settings are pleasant, the trainers friendly and energetic. They don't waste too much time over-explaining the moves which is fine for people who have done classes before. For people new to exercising, some safety cautions might be needed, but personally, I'm fine. It's fun to watch the heart rate change, altho' sometimes my watch isn't connecting with the TV on that. I've changed to a different band for a snugger fit. Actually I think Fitness+ would be a reason to get an Apple watch because it's about health! And gym memberships (forbidden now) aren't cheap either!
